Remember who you are 2: Strange Times

Ch 1 History Repeats Itself

It was the beginning of a beautiful day in the Pridelands and a cub with a golden coat, amber eyes and a growing ball of red fluff on his head was sitting on the edge of Priderock watching the sun rise with a lion with a golden coat, amber eyes and a flowing red mane. These two were Prince Kion and his father, King Simba. They were watching the sunrise as they did everyday. "Such a beautiful start for the day," Simba said softly, looking down at his son who was snuggled into his side, with a smile. Just then Simba's majordomo, Zazu came flying in.

"Good morning Sire," the horn bill said with a bow. "Master Kion."

"Good morning Zazu," Simba said with a smile. "Bit early for the morning report isn't it?"

"Well Sire you do have that meeting between the rhino leader and the elephant leader," Zazu reminded the King. "And later you have another meeting with the giraffe leader and the gazelle leader. And then I believe your due at Big Springs to talk with Basi."

"Yes Zazu I'm aware of my schedule," Simba said, trying not to sound annoyed. "Lets just have the report please."

"Very well Sire," Zazu said as he began the report. As he was talking Kion took the opportunity to leave and find his Guard. He went into the cave where he found his friends, who were all gathering for their morning meeting they had every day.

"Hey guys," Kion said with a smile.

"Hey Ky," his friend said with smiles of their own.

"Ready for patrol today?" Kion asked.

"Uh actually Kion there's something that needs taken care of first," Ono said.

"What is it?" Kion asked.

"There's been rumors that Reirei and her jackals have been spotted near the Pride Land/Outland border," Ono informed his friend.

"She would have her nerve to try something again," Fuli said, rolling her green eyes.

"Yeah you'd think she'd of learned her lesson the last time Kion blew her and her sorry pack away," Bunga said also rolling his eyes.

"Some creatures never learn," Beshte chimed in, shaking his head.

"C'mon," Kion said, motioning with his head. "Lets go check it out." With that the Guard headed out to make sure Reirei and her Clan weren't causing any trouble.

Meanwhile back in the Outlands it wasn't Reirei that was plotting. It was Janja and his Clan that were plotting. "Man I hate this," Janja's second in command, Chungu grumbled as he examined four scratches on his backside. "Stupid Kion and his Guard."

"Will you shut up?" Janja snarled, glaring at his cousin. "I'm tryin' to think here."

"May I offer a suggestion Janja?" one of Janja's friend asked.

"What is it Nne?" Janja snapped, glaring at the other hyena.

"Well I think I may have found a solution to out problem," Nne said.

"Go on," Janja said.

"Well," Nne said. "I think we may need some help defeating Kion and his Guard. After all it didn't work out to well for Reirei when she faced him alone."

"I ain't workin' with Reirei," Janja declared. "Jackals and hyenas don't mix well."

"Of course not," Nne said. "And that's why I feel we should work with someone else."

"Like who?" Janja asked.

"Like me," a voice from the shadows said. Janja and his Clan turned and their eyes went wide when they saw who was standing there.

"What the Hell are you doin' here?" Janja demanded, glaring at the visitor.

Meanwhile Kion and his Guard were searching high and low for Reirei and her jackals but were finding nothing. "No sign of them," Ono said, swooping down and landing in front of Kion. "In fact there's no sign of any trouble at all."

"Well that's a relief," Fuli said with a sigh.

"Yeah but it makes the day so boring," Bunga groaned from his place on top of Kion's head. "I wish something would..." But before he could finish suddenly they head the sounds of fighting.

"Uh oh," Beshte muttered. "That doesn't sound good."

"Let go!" Kion cried out. "Til the Pride Land end...!"

"Lion Guard defend!" his Guard finished as they raced towards the fighting.

A few minutes later Kion and his friends came across the source of the fight. Nala was fighting a group a leopards along with Tiffu's mother, Ziva and Zuri's mother, Milani. Behind them were a terrified Kiara, Zuri and Tiifu. "Mom!" Kion cried out as he and his friends raced to help the lionesses. "Hang on we're coming!" With that the Guard went into attack mode. Beshte plowed into the leopards, sending them flying through the air. Fuli used her amazing speed and raced circles around the leopards, disorienting them while Bunga and Ono hit them with rocks and sticks. Kion took the opportunity to tackle their leader, Makucha, who was trying to sneak away. "Makucha!" Kion snarled as he pinned the leopard leader to the ground.

"Of hey there Kion," Makucha said, trying not to sound like he was scared.

"What do you think you're doing?!" Kion demanded. "Attacking the Queen of the Pride Lands is a serious offence!"

"We weren't doing anything wrong!" Makucha declared. "We were just trying to get some food!"

"You were trying to hunt those poor Nylas!" Nala growled, referring to a rare group of animals that looked very similar to deers only they had white stripes on them.

"You were warned about hunting rare animals Makucha!" Kion growled. While he was speaking Makucha's two right hand leopards Fahari and Jiona took the opportunity to sneak up behind Kion while he was distracted. But Kiara had seen the leopards and went to help her brother.

"Kion watch out!" the Princess cried out as she raced in front of her brother just as Fahari raised his paw to strike. Kiara took the full hit and was sent sprawling across the ground.

"Kiara!" Kion cried out, fearful for his sister's safety. Makucha took advantage of Kion's distraction and hit the golden Prince hard, sending him flying through the air and into a rock, knocking him out cold.

"Kion!" the Guard cried out, their eyes wide. Makucha and his Leap took the opportunity to run off as the others were checking on the fallen Prince and Princess.

"They need help!" Nala cried out as she examined her unconscious son and daughter. With that Nala gently picked up Kiara while Beshte picked up Kion and the group made their way back to Pride Rock while Ono went to get Rafiki. They just hoped that Kion and Kiara would be alright.

A little while later Rafiki and Makini had arrived at Pride Rock and were examining Kion and Kiara. By now Simba had returned from his meetings and he was anxiously awaiting news on his children along with Nala and the Guard "I hope Kion and Kiara are going to be alright," Zuri whispered.

"They will be," Beshte said, trying to sound as convincing as possible. "They're both strong. They'll be just fine."

"I hope you're right Beshte," Simba said softly. "But the last time Kion got hurt he..." Simba trailed off not wanting to think about when Kion had lost his memory a couple months ago. Nala nuzzled her mate as she too was thinking about that horrible time. Just then Rafiki emerged from the cave. "Rafiki," Simba cried out running up to his friend with Nala right behind him. "How are Kion and Kiara?" the King asked.

"Dey both received vedy serious injuries to der heads," Rafiki informed the golden King. "But I feel dey will both be alright."

"Can we see them?" Nala asked.

"De Princess is not yet awake," Rafiki said. "But de Prince is. You may see him if you wish."

"Thank you my friend," Simba said with a smile as he and Nala went to see their children.

When Simba and Nala entered the cave they saw that Kion was indeed awake. "Oh Kion we were so worried!" Nala cried out, nuzzling her son.

"Yes you gave us quite the scare son," Simba said as he too nuzzled his boy. By now the rest of the Guard had entered the cave all of them anxious to see their friend.

"Hey pal how ya feeling?" Bunga asked, trying not to be to loud.

"Ok I guess," Kion said with a shrug. "My head hurts though. What happened anyways?"

"You don't remember?" Simba asked, exchanging worried looks with Nala.

"No I don't," Kion said, shaking his head. "In fact I don't remember anything. Not even who I am."
