Chapter 1: The Woman of Legend

The time had come.

A beautiful young woman with black hair stood before a runic inscription drawn onto the floor of her cellar.

She sighed… it was time.

Clutching a handful of gemstones in her hand, she held out her arm above the mystic array and began to chant.

"For the elements, silver and iron…"

The crystals in hand began to drip essence upon the sigil, which in turn began to glow upon sensing the channel of one's mana.

"For the foundation; stone and the archduke of pacts… for my great master Schweinorg…"

The dripping energies mingled with the magic circle, intensifying the glow of the essence.

"Close the four gates… come forth from the crown and follow the forked road leading to the kingdom…"

The girl could feel the building energy. The array she stood upon now glowed green from the activation and channeling of her magic.

"Fill… fill… fill… fill… fill… repeat five times, but when each is filled; destroy it…"

The glow of the runes steadily grew brighter and brighter as her chant continued, the array now turning a brilliant gold.

"Set… heed my words… my will creates your body and your sword creates my destiny…"

Her hair and skirt began to flutter in a now-formed wind produced from the build-up of magic as the sigil turned from gold to red, bathing the cellar in radiant light.

"If you heed the Grail's call and obey my will and reason; then answer me… I hereby swear that I shall be all the good in the world… that I shall defeat all evil in the world…"

Such a dense and thick amount of magical energy now drowned the room in its miasma.

"Seventh heaven clad in the great words of power… from the binding circle… thou guardian of the scales!"

In a blast of magical energy and blinding essence that nearly bowled the young lady over, the light eventually died down as the runic array ceased its glow.

The girl's eyes widened in realization upon seeing a person now standing in the center of the circle.

I did it! she mentally cheered, my own servant!

Standing before her was a woman… a very beautiful woman with long dark brown, almost black, hair and slightly tanned skin as if she had been outside for most of her life.

She wore a sleeveless dress of leather with gold designs across the chest with matching patterns on her shoulder pads and armlets. She also sported leather vambraces on her lower arms and her legs and feet were shod in knee-high leather boots.

A strange metal ring hung from her hip and a sword rested upon her back.

I knew it, the girl who had performed the ritual thought upon seeing the woman's weapon, I knew I would summon a saber-servant!

… only to have that confidence dashed with the woman's first words.

"I have arrived in response to your summons… Servant Archer reporting, master."

The girl's eyes widened… archer? Did… did she say…archer?!

It was then the girl realized that all the clocks in her residence were an hour off. So she had performed the summoning at one a.m. instead of two a.m.

She sighed. "What's done is done," she mumbled under her breath. She raised her head and faced her servant.

"Greetings, Archer. My name is Rin Tohsaka and I am indeed your master." She revealed the command seals on the back of her hand as proof, "you may call me Rin if you'd like. Would you be so kind as to reveal which heroic spirit you are?"

The woman nodded, "very well, Rin. In life I was known as the Warrior Princess."

"My name… is Xena."

Yep, Rin just summoned Xena. Xena could fall under the archer class (i.e. her chakram. Remember various archers use various projectiles)

Wait until you see who I have in mind for the other servants.
