AN: I own nothing. If I did, this would be canon.

The world can often be a violent and confusing realm in which to reside, for it seems that no matter where one turns, injustice lurks in the shadows. Most of our fellow man ignore this reality, content to reap the luxuries it brings whilst praising our glorious Empire. For those that do take notice however, some fall into a horrified despair at what we've done and lose hope for the future. It is only a select few that rise to the challenge presented before them, working tirelessly to fix the mistakes of the past. To my great fortune, I have come to know one of these great people, through whom I have learned much of both myself and the universe.

Throughout our travels together, I have seen beautiful cosmic sights beyond comprehension, and chilling eldritch horrors from the deepest pits of hell. This man whom I've come to consider a brother in all but blood, has been mad as a march hare, wiser than any sage, an infuriating child, and a compassionate friend, all at once. My witness has born to him facing down tyrants one day, only to pick flowers the next. The memories we have shared will stay with me till my dying days, for they have shaped me into the man I am now. Unfortunately, the final days of my friend will remain a mystery to me.

I write this account of our voyages, however impossible they may seem, to honour his memory and say a proper farewell to this hero, whatever he may have thought of himself. Most likely the following stories will be dismissed as fiction, which is to be expected given their nature, but this is an outcome I'll accept, nonetheless. Hopefully, these tales will inspire at least one person to take a stand against the shadows, and at least try to bring in some new light to this earth. Maybe this will begin a chain of inspiration, reaching out across the centuries, making each one better than the last. Such a thought will make up every penny of this publication, bank houses be damned!

Now, to begin this record, I should probably start when I first met my friend, a man whom I would soon come to know as the Doctor…
