Prelude
In the beginning there was grey mist, great archtrees and everlasting dragons. Then came Fire, and with it the dichotomy of Life and Death, Light and Dark. And the Lords came forth, clutching the great souls taken from the First Flame and with their power overthrew the dragons.
Does the story sound familiar? This is how our world began. And it portends how it will end. For the Fire fades, the world crumbles, and soon Dark will overtake all.
And what of us lowly mortals? Are we not doomed by the curse of the Darksign? Is it not our fate to lose our Humanity piece by piece until we are naught but mindless Hollows? Is it not our destiny to wander the ashen wastes that are all that remain of once-great empires?
Perhaps.
Or perhaps what you think you know is not the whole story. Legend has blended with fact and truth has been supplanted by base deceit. Shall the whole truth ever be known? Doubtful, but the lies spread by the old Lords are losing their strength. Truth peeks through the veil of falsehood, illuminating our darkened world.
Night is coming and it will be long. Plenty of time, then, for tales to be told. Tales of ancient times. Tales of justice and depravity. Tales of the souls that shaped our world.
