Title: The Legend of the Miraculous

Inspiration: Legend of Korra

Book 1: Hawkmoth

Chapter One: The New Ladybug

A old man wandered through a horrible blizzard for some unknown reasons. His hands were frozen. He should of been dead by now, but he wasn't. Which was a miracle to him.

A friend told him that there was a girl in a village that was far away from home who had the kindest heart and always helped others. And that peeked his interest. No one, as far as he knew could even earn a miraculous so easily. They needed to prove themselves.

Miraculous. They were ancient jewels thought to be myths. Thought to have disappeared a long time ago.

But they were never myths. These weren't needed at the time. So they went into hiding.

The old man's friend was a magical being called a kwami who gave him the power of protection. Though with this magical jewel, he had kept the world safe in small actions. But because of his old age, he needed help. He couldn't keep going I the world. Even this own magical being said he was too old to fight. And he took that under consideration.

The magical being remained quiet. There was something else that was up too. Even with these powers, the great thing was that bending could make them stronger. It was like finding the next Avatar. But at a cost that was much higher than the world.

He heard a group of men wearing white lotus uniforms making their way towards the Village too.

The old man thought it was a coincidence. But he decided to follow them anyhow. He was curious on why they were there. He hadn't kept up on the news. All he knew was that there was going to be a horrible danger that would wipe out the whole world. He didn't know the reason behind it.

Anyways, he heard them speak about a girl who was kicking rocks and roaring fire from her mouth.

That was rare indeed.

The old man had no bending abilities. So he was at a disadvantage for a long time.

These White Lotus members stopped in front a small hut. The snow was getting deeper. It was so different from the city of Paris.

He heard a soft voice welcome them in. The old man watched from a window. He wondered if this was the girl they were looking for. Maybe this was the girl he was looking for too. Even with a Miraculous and being the Avatar, that was a lot of pressure there.

"Welcome to our home," a soft female voice said. This female had short midnight hair. She was bundled up in warm clothes. The gentle woman led them inside to the warm fire that kept the family warm.

A little girl who looked just about ten looked up at the men that entered her home. She looked just like the woman who led them inside. Except he hair was pulled into a neat bun. She hugged a little doll that what the old man assumed was her mother.

"It's okay Marinette." the woman assured. "Show them what you can do."

The little girl stood up. She wasn't quite bundled up like her mother. She set her doll to the side. Then raised her arms up to let a small flame escape her lips. A small stream of water appeared in one hand and she lifted a small rock using her other hand without touching it.

The old man watched the little girl in awe.

She was graceful in her movements.

"She's the one." the magical being whispered.

"Are you sure?"

The green kwami nodded.

The old man looked back up at the girl. There was a soft cry.

"I have to be away from my parents?" the little girl hugged her mother. Beside the two was a large man who had black hair. He had a bushy mustache. He set an arm around the woman.

"Surely she can come to us after her training." the woman said.

The White Lotus men hesitated. They didn't want the same thing to happen to the previous Avatar. To be told that they have this great responsibility at such a young age. But they needed her to be prepared.

"She will be able to return home after each day of training." one said. "Her first day is tomorrow. Don't be late, Avatar Marinette."

"How will I reach her? I don't want to startle her." The old man said.

"You won't scare her."

"If you say so so."

Six years later...

Marinette grew into a lovely young woman herself. Her hair was now pulled back into pigtails with black hair ties. She wasn't big on the idea of having to protect the work. While she thought it was cool that she had the ability to control all four elements, she found herself quite lonely.

The White Lotus kept her isolated the older she got. She only got short breaks to eat or go for a walk. But she was always expected to train. That's all her life was. She just wanted things to change for the better. After all, changes wouldn't happen by themselves.

Marinette missed her parents. She missed the quiet dinners.

At the moment, she was trying to get stronger with those who had mastered their respective element. She adjusted herself and tried to get better after the lesson. But she was always tired. The bluenette just wasn't focused. She never asked to have this large responsibility.

They always told her to focus. That she needed to tap into her spiritual side in order to master all four elements and be ready for anything.

She tried not to groan. The same words were stuck in her mind. And really, she just wanted a new scene. Being isolated made her not understand things either. She knew rules existed. Laws that could put someone away for a long time. The Avatar was not immune to that. Protecting the world was her number one priority. But she also wanted to be her own person. She didn't want to be told what she could and couldn't be.

Currently, the young avatar was on a short break. She had gone back to her room to look over her designs that she sketched a while ago. But those had been taken from her room.

They told her not to have any distractions.

She sat on her bed. The days just seemed to be longer than ever.

Then she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. A black hexagon shaped box with a Chinese design it. She raised an eyebrow. The White Lotus would of discarded this. How did this even get in her room?

She looked around to see if there was anyone around her. None.

Marinette opened the box only to shield her eyes as a bright pink orb appeared before her. When it disappeared, she saw what looked like to be.. well, she didn't know. She dropped the box on the floor and backed into a wall. "Gah! A.. a giant bug! Bug mouse!" She grabbed the pillow from her bed and threw it at the creature.

The creature dodged it. "Don't be afraid!"

She could of thrown her other pillow, but was so petrified of what she unleashed in her room.

"I'm your friend, Marinette!" the creature said cheerfully.

"How do you know my name?" she kept herself right where she was. The creature only got closer.

"My name is Tikki and I'm a kwami. I was delivered to you from someone very special, but you mustn't tell anyone else of my existence. We don't want it falling in the wrong hands." She held red earrings with five black spots on them. "Take these. I promise I don't bite."

The bluenette hesitantly took the earrings and placed them on. They turned black as soon as they were on. She looked in the mirror.

"I grant powers to those who wear those earrings. Now, let me explain a few things and we can get started."

"Powers? But I already-"

The magical red creature gently cut her her off. "Yes, you have an advantage as the Avatar, but the world is going to get much more dangerous. You won't be able to save the world without me. There's a great danger coming. I'm not sure what it is, but you have to trust me."

She looked down at the floating creature. This day turned out really weird.

"Who are you talking to?" a White Lotus member asked. He stood in the doorway of her room.

"Myself. Ooh. Yeah world is in danger." she said rather quickly.

He gave her a questionable look. "You have training to do."

Marinette tried not to groan. She simply nodded her head and complied.

As soon as she was out and about, she was given protective gear. This could only mean one thing. Sparring. She didn't want to hurt anyone. Let alone kill anyone. She put on the protective gear while her opponent prepared himself.

Tikki hid in the girl's hair. "Have fun!"

She rolled her eyes. Her first guest was about to watch her get blown up. She frowned. "Thanks." she muttered.

"Take your stances."

She and her opponent did so.

"Go!"

She wasn't good at throwing the first attack. But all she really wanted was this to be over. She felt warmth in her hands. She shot a wheel of flames at her opponent and backed off to land on her feet. Well, she was not one for destruction. No, not at all.

Her opponent who had the bending abilities of fire wasn't even phased. He sent them back to her.

The bluenette backed herself up. She was the Avatar. She could easily make him slip. She made a hand movement that looked like she was going to do the same attack, but this time made him slip the second he took another step towards her.

He fell on his back.

Marinette unfroze the water beneath him and ran to his side. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you!"

"Enough." the main White Lotus member frowned at her. "Avatar Marinette, come here."

She walked over.

At least her grandmother was there to cheer her on. She was a natural water bender and was encouraged to come in case or worst case scenarios.

"You are not to be sympathetic towards them. If he is your enemy and you think you hurt them and they attack you? Absolutely not. You take too long and you lack confidence."

Another member spoke. "To add to that, you haven't even made an attempt to connect to the spirit world. You are the bridge between the worlds."

She felt insecure. They had to do a lot of nitpicking. It felt like they wanted her to be perfect at it, but she wasn't going to be a perfect person. She was going to have her flaws too. "I know, but I just need Wang Fu to aid me there."

"Do you think she's ready, Gina?"

Gina, her grandmother smiled. "Yes. I'm absolutely sure he can aid her there so she can help the world."

Of course she was going to agree with her. She was her granddaughter. They rolled their eyes.

"You will be sent to Paris and the airtemple island then."

Marinette silently cheered to herself. Yes! She was going to get out of here. She was going to thank her grandmother very soon.
