A/N: This is an experiment I have been working on for a long time. I can't wait to see what you guys think of it.
Chapter 1: A Mission at Hand
Cell looked around at the destruction his siblings had caused. No wonder Gero wants me to absorb them. They have caused so much destruction, he thought. He also had another mission...to kill Son Goku. He felt a strange affection for the naive warrior.
"You know what? Screw Gero. I'll absorb my siblings and then see what I can do to help Son Goku," Cell muttered to himself. He saw a figure lying on the ground and walked towards it, an awful feeling in his gut. He recognized the person as Trunks, the son of the Saiyan prince, Vegeta. He saw that that there was a hole in his chest. "The Androids did this."
Cell closed his eyes and gently touched Trunks's hand. Trunks winced slightly, then he fell silent.
Trunks was getting into his time machine to help the people in the past. Suddenly, an energy blast sped past him and blew up a nearby building. Trunks spun around, ash falling around him. Trunks's eyes widened in dismay and annoyance.
"Where are you going, little boy?" 18 asked in a deadly voice, a smile on her face. Trunks glared at her defiantly, though he cast a few backwards glances at the time machine. "Going back in time? That's cute."
Trunks clenched his fist so a small bit of blood gushed out. He turned Super Saiyan and unsheathed his sword. 18 easily blocked the attack and broke Trunks's sword. Trunks frowned and backflipped out of attack range. He sheathed his broken sword and charged 18 again. She laughed as his valiant efforts failed to even scratch the Android.
Suddenly, 18 grabbed Trunks by his throat and shot him in the chest with a Ki blast. Blood gurgled at Trunks's throat as the shot went right through his chest. His eyes widened with shock, pain and dismay. 17, who had been watching from the shadow of a building, stepped out and walked over to 18.
"Let's go. We have no more business. He's as good as dead right now," 17 said, scoffing at Trunks.
"Y - You'll never get away with this!" Trunks coughed, anger burning in his eyes.
The two Androids turned to him. "We already have," 18 said, smiling. She then lifted Trunks's chin with her foot. She knelt beside Trunks and punched him directly in the wound. Trunks let out a cry of pain and held his chest. Trunks was clearly trying to stop the blood flow. "Oh, that's not going to work, little one."
18 grabbed Trunks by his shirt collar and threw him to the ground. Trunks only groaned and tried to stand. 17 looked impressed by Trunks's resistance to death. Even though he was looking through death's door, he was still trying to fight. 18 was clearly fighting hard not to lose it. She put the heel of her foot on the wound and stomped. Trunks let out a desperate cry of pain, but there was also a call for help, as if he expected help to arrive. Soon, he was unconscious, either from the pain or loss of blood.
"Finally, he's dead. Let's go, 17, I'm bored and dirty and mad," 18 said.
"Works for me," 17 replied and they flew off.
Cell clenched his fist when the vision ended. He heard a weak cough and his head shot up. Staring directly at him, was Trunks. Cell felt a faint squeezing and looked down to see Trunks holding his hand weakly. Cell tried to think of what to say, but Trunks seemed to find the words first. "You're an Android aren't you? Don't try to lie, I can see it in your eyes."
"Y - Yeah, I am an Android," Cell said.
"Then why aren't you trying to finish off what they started?' Trunks asked softly, clearly trying not to cough.
"I'm not like them," Cell replied.
"Well, that explains it," Trunks said, wincing. Cell looked to examine the wound and flinched when he saw how bad it was. Trunks looked at Cell, clearly worried by his response to the wound. "How bad is it?"
"Bad. The worst I've seen in my five seconds of living," Cell said. "That is probably not relevant to this conversation." Trunks nodded painfully in agreement. Cell ripped a piece of cloth from Trunks's pant leg and tried to stop the blood flow. The cloth instantly reddened. Cell frowned and looked to Trunks. "The hell did they do to your body?"
"The same thing we're going to do to you if you don't leave our kill alone, Android," a voice said, Cell recognized it vaguely, 17.
"Yeah, back off," 18 agreed. Cell glared at them and sped at 17 as quickly as he could. 18 looked horrified as Cell quickly absorbed 17. Her eyes widened as Cell's first transformation began. He really had no idea how he had absorbed 17 so quickly. He has expected a good fight. Cell felt the transformation complete and he was transformed into Semi - Perfect Cell. "What the hell?!"
Cell turned to 18 and absorbed her before she could take a step backwards. Cell felt the transformation begin again, this time full of the pain of compressed muscles. He found himself screaming as he turned into his perfect, complete form. Finally, the transformation was complete and Perfect Cell was born. Cell looked around at his body and fought back a smile. This was his complete form.
Then he remembered Trunks and turned to him. Trunks had fallen into a restless sleep. Cell gently picked him up and placed him in the time machine. Trunks moaned once but didn't move. Cell ripped off another piece of cloth and began to tie it. Once the cloth was in place, Cell started up the time machine. After five minutes of flying, Cell checked on Trunks. His eyes widened as he saw blood streaming down his jacket.
Trunks was in visible pain and his eyes were now wide, unseeing dots. Cell tried to untie the cloth, but Trunks's heaving chest made it difficult. Finally, Cell managed to take it off. Trunks's breathing was now a slow, struggled rasp. Cell fought hard not to go into a panic. Trunks would need him to be focused, not stressed. Cell could tell from Trunks's face that he was trying his best to stay alive.
"Come on Trunks, we have five more minutes. You can make it! You saw Gohan die. You lost everything, and you still moved on! Focus on staying alive and you should be fine!" Cell ordered Trunks gruffly. Trunks only let out a soft sigh and fell still. Cell tried his best not to get all emotional. He barely knew Trunks, yet he just knew that he had been a good person. He thought of Mai probably waiting for Trunks to come home. Finally, they made it to the past. "Don't worry Trunks, I'll find you a nice area to sleep."
Even saying it like that made Cell swallow a large lump growing in his throat. He had never experienced this. What was it called? Pain? Cell carried Trunks by a river. He quickly dug a hole and placed Trunks inside. Cell gathered a bunch of flowers and placed them with Trunks. Trunks looked so peaceful and oblivious down there. Cell tried to fight back the reality that he was gone. What was he feeling also? Love?
"Good night, Trunks. Stay well," Cell whispered.
A/N: What did you think? Please let me know. I want to know how this went if I am to continue stories like this with alternate villains. Remember to review favorite and follow. Hope you enjoyed today's chapter. And yes, I am holding off on some stories because I don't want to end them. Tournament of Fate, I'm looking at you. Anyway, see you all in the next chapter. Oh yeah, sorry about killing off Trunks. Don't worry, he'll be back. In fact, he has a huge role for a while. Anyway, byyyye. (Says in Mr. Popo voice from DBZA)
