PREFACE: VOID OF INFINITE OPTIONS
At first, there was only darkness until one singular light appeared in the center of the void of space. The beginning of time as we know it all because of the creation of light. And the light made more light. Interconnected into a web of everlasting periods of time and space and existence. Each light connected to the first light by strings.
Allow me to guide you in this map of the labyrinth of lights and enlighten you of twelve paths that you may recognize. Each path starts from the center light, brighter than the rest of the lights surrounding the area, leading into different directions. Twelve lights specifically glow in the darkness. Eleven out of the twelve have more webbing to them. I know you are confused.
What do the twelve lights mean? I'll give you a hint. Each one of those lights represent similar time and space, but are all very different from one another. You have heard of this theory before from a young lad with purple hair and a mystical sword he wielded. He told of the multiverse theory.
Along the story of Dragon Ball Super, this theory was made prominent by the grand Multiverse featuring twelve universes where there are pairs of universes that are considered twins. These universes are featured down similar paths connecting to the original light. The main universe featured in the original Dragon Ball franchise is known as Universe 7. But these are not all of the universes that exist. There are far more beyond any mortal and deity imagination.
Let us focus on Universe 7 and help guide your understanding of this Multiverse. Universe 6 is considered a twin to Universe 7 because of one single instance in time that made the path from the original light to split in two. This instance was the destruction of Planet Vegeta, or rather the lack of destruction. So with this basic idea, imagine that Universe 7 has many other universes which exist because of any instance happening and not happening. For example there are three different versions of Universe 7 featured in the series of Dragon Ball: The main timeline for Dragon Ball Super, the side timeline for Dragon Ball GT, and the future timeline for Future Trunks and Mai.
What if I told you that there was another version of Universe 7 where there was one instance that allowed more Saiyans to survive the destruction of Planet Vegeta? This is the beginning of Universe 7A. Where a group of 6 Saiyans escaped from their home planet in search of refuge and happened upon the peaceful planet of Earth.
This is the main timeline for Dragon Ball AS.
