'Dust R Us' : The only dust establishment in the rather small business town and the one of the only ones endorsed exclusively by the Schnee Dust Company, in the country of Vale. The building itself was rather new, with a white exterior and the sign was etched in gold lettering that seemed to attract the eye.
Across from said establishment was another inconspicuous looking building, that stood at roughly the same height and would have been nothing to mention apart from the two perched teens on its rooftop both eyeing the Dust Store.
"I'll be real, I know it doesn't look like much but I guess its expected from this kinda place right? Plus its pretty new," A grin spread across his face. "Too bad for them, we're boutta be the first to rob them"
"I know its way too late to change your mind but is are you should we should trust this Torchwick guy?" His purple haired companion questioned leaning on the rooftop of the railing, "I mean, we've never done a job for anyone this bad apart from maybe Monte Fiske"
"Yeah and that turned out fine right? Plus you said the same when we took those AK things no?" A cheerful tone was evident as he continued to convince his friend. Said teen was rather tall and looked no older than 17. He had green eyes and wore a headband that covered his forehead and allowed his bangs to fall until just above his eyes. He wore black, ripped jeans and a matching colour windbreaker that was half-zipped showing off his white undershirt and silver gem necklace. Around his right forearm were chains wrapped around and attatched to his hip was a golden sheath for a short blade.
"Gray, the difference between then and now is that there's acc a good chance of us being caught and placed behind bars." The other teen, was handsome and stood roughly at the same height as his partner in crime. Purple bangs dipped until they reached his nose, clearing at his golden eyes, whilst the rest of his hair was spiked upwards. He had on plue pants and a matching shirt with white shoes that seemed more tailored for a basketball player than a soon to be thief. Attached to his back was a bo-staff the length of a longsword with a noticeable line in the middle.
"Leon, have a little faith in me man," Gray retorted leaning over the balcony, grinning happily as he began to animatedly wave his hands, much to the apparent unamusement of his cohort, "Dude, imagine this, we get the dust or whatever, move it to this Torchwick dude, get paid and then we're swimming in lien. Then we won't need to work for him or Fiske again if the money's what it seems. It's practically fool-proof"
Leon gave him a look of scepticism, "Fool-proof my backfoot! Whenever we you have dumb plans like this it never ends well"
"It was a one time thing" His partner whined
"What 'bout that time you said you had a fool-proof plan to rob a bank?! Your lucky we even got out of that"
"How was I supposed to know there was a code, Leon"
Leon facepalmed, "Of course, a bank would have a code to the safe, are you retarded?" before the other boy could answer he interjected. "Don't answer that actually."
Gray sighed at his partner, "Dude, forget that when have we ever got caught?" as he said this he let the chain on his forearm unravel.
"Never
"Exactly, we haven't and we won't ever get caught"
"See your jinxing us"
"Ahh shush, Mr. Whiny Pants"
The two teens leaped from the rooftop, landing and running up to the building of target, using the shadows as a half decent cover, until the reached the door.
"You ready, bro?" Leon nodded in response to Gray as they kicked the doors open.
"The Fuck?"
Guards lay on the floor, surrounded by shattered class and discarded batons. The men responsible, eight in total, turned to look at both teens.
Leon blinked, "I guess we weren't the only ones?"
Gray though, was far from pleased.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS, I DID NOT PLAN THIS WHOLE ROBBERY TO GET IT TAKEN AWAY BY MEN IN SUITS. DROP THE DUST NOW!"
The suited men stared between each other before pulling out blades and guns respectively. Gray and Leon reacted, diving behind one of the shattered shelves while the men fired overhead.
l
The thieving teens ducked, while bullets continued to riddle the shelf. "It'll be easy, he said" Leon mocked, ducking as one bullet came way too close for comfort.
"All under control" Gray yelled back.
Leon reached for his staff using it to get a view of their attackers and saw that three of the men were escaping through the door they had jus entered. Dust in hand. "Dude, they're leaving with the dust."
"Say what? That's our dust"
"It won't be ours if they get away!" Leon turned to Gray, "What's next genius?"
Gray shut his eyes in concentration before snapping them open with a mischievous grin, "You hold off these extras, grab their other car and i'll give chase, with my semblance I should be able to catch up," He paused before looking off to the side, "or should i say slow them down."
Leon nodded at this, "I won't argue with that, seeing as bullets won't be much of a problem for you."
Gray grinned, "So, we need to distract these guys first," He grabbed his chain and hurled it at the wall drawing the attention of the robbers before making a mad dash out of the door and onto the street.
Leon, seeing as good an opportunity as any, knocked over the shelf and kicked it towards the robbers knocking one of them over.
He leaned back to avoid a punch from one of the suited men, before whipping out his bo-staff, hitting him and knocking him out as he noticed the his companions attacking from both sides.
He pulled on both sides of his staff, watching as they split in two guns which he used to fire at the approaching men knocking them down and out.
He grinned as he reattached his bo-staff, grinning as he did so, "Well, that was easier than it should have been"
His grin fell as he heard the sounds of guns cocking, he turned ever so slowly only to see a swarm of armed police with their weapons aimed at him.
"Ahh Shucks.."
"Well, Fuck!" Gray yelled as he ran along the roadd, ducking and dodging between people as he chased the van. It had been a minute and he was finally within eye shot of the van.
"I won't be able to catch up at this rate," He grinned as he lifted his right arm, "Well I guess I gotta make them come to me" He stretched out his arm towards the vehicle and as a purple aura began to surround the appendage, the car began to slowly but surely slow down. He laughed as he sped up, aiming to catch the car.
The two robbers in the back eyed their haul whilst the one in the front driving looked in his rear view mirror to see a black clad teen catching up.
"This is as fast as it can go, but we're not going anywhere, what the fuck?!" He expressed his worry, pressing on the gas pedal to no avail.
One of the robbers in the back, shook his head in disbelief, "Torchwick didn't say anything 'bout these kids, he said it would be routine, this is not routine!" His partner nodded also.
"Guys He's Comin-" almost on cue, a loud creak sound as the back doors of the van were twisted open with the horrifying sound of metal.
The robbers looked in shock to see a black clad teen wreathed in a purple outline and both arms outstretched chasing the car, the two robbers in the back pulled out their weapons and began to fire only for the bullets to be stopped just before touching the boy.
"I wouldn't recommend that," He grinned as the bullets fell harmlessly to the ground and both men looked at him with fear and... continued to fire.
The green eyed thief sighed in frustration, "Do you guys not listen" he yelled as the bullets fell harmlessly short once again, much to the repeated shock of the robbers.
He motioned is arms, watching as the robbers' guns flew towards him before dropping as he jumped into the back of the van.
"What are you?" the robber asked in fear as both he and his partner found themselves unable to move. They watched as the teen, casually grabbed the case of dust.
"Just a guy" the robbers stared at him as he continued to grin.
"You guys are no fun," The teen prepared to jump, "Bye, I guess, I gotta get this to a certain someone" He gave a small salute before hearing a comment from one of the men.
"Roman's gonna be so pissed" Gray turned with narrowed eyes as the man said this watching as the the suited man flinched back, now able to move.
"Roman as in Torchwi-" The teen paused as the robber closest to him threw a punch, he dodged, bringing up his knee to the elbow of the man before knocking him into the wall of the car with a roundhouse kick.
"Nice try shades, now," He looked at the guy in front of him as he cowered. "You work for Torchwick?"
"Y-yes" Gray grinned as he grabbed the crate of dust and prepared to jump.
"Tell him he won't getting none of this dust, in fact I have half a mind to sell it to the nearest broker for this shit i've been through," He stepped out off the now stationary car with a cocky smirk and case of dust in hand, "Well have a good day guys" The concious duo stared at the retreating teen in fear, before restarting the van. Dust was not worth this.
Gray grinned as he walked, he had inspected the box to find the dust was indeed intact and began to lagh to himself, "I knew this was full-pro-"
He heard the sounds of screeching tyres and guns cocking and was faced with armed police, SWAT and an overlooking helicopter.
"Ahh, crapbaskets"
His heart thumped in his chest he sat, head buried in his arms in the bright interogation room, in the police station.
It wasn't meant to go like this, he didn't really know how it was meant to go but this was not it.
Not only had they been caught, they had been played by that Roman guy as well, sending his own men whilst telling them to steal from there.
Gray sighed, he had always thought this was a possibility but he chalked it up to negative thinking, said negative thinking had become reality.
There was no one he could also contact for help, he was an orphan, Leon was also being questioned and he was sure anyone else they knew would rather laugh than actually help.
"So, Leon was actually right about this shit, thats a bummer," He could almost hear his partner.
"I told you we shouldn't have"
"Hey, I guess you were right but you still got arrested right? So it can't have been all me."
"It was your plan"
"Yeah and you went along with it Leon" He retorted grinning at his victory over his partner that he had now imagined.
Gray sighed, not even behind bars and he was already going insane. He was saved from his thoughts as the door opened to reveal a man.
He was middle aged, well dressed with unruly, grey hair and small shaded glasses. He wore a black suit, matching vest and a green undershirt with a once again matching scarf. Under his armpit was a scroll and in his left was a mug of coffee and in his right was a cane.
He came and sat right across from the teen.
Gray gave him a quizzical look, He definitely wasn't a cop.
The man sat up, "Gray Knight. Age:17. Leon Wilson. Age 17. Apprehended at two different sites. One found surrounded by unconscious robbers in 'Dust R US'. Another, on the road with a crate of dust in his possession. Furthermore, from the items in our possession, steel chains and a very sharp blade that seems to double as a gun. Not particularly common thieves are you?"
Gray sighed, "I'd guess not"
"Indeed and while it could be said that you guys were aiming to apprehend the robbers, you yourself gave chase and stole the dust from said robbers," He opened another file and began to read, "Also people matching your descriptions have been seen committing Grand Theft Auto, robbing stores, attempting to rob a bank and... stealing donuts off officers."
Gray grinned at the last accusation before said grin fell at the man's next words.
"There could be a full investigation on your involvement in the case"
"Fuck," Gray held his head in his hands, "So we're gonna get arrested?"
"Not exactly," The man tapped on the screen and showed a video, "I'm quite interested in why a getaway car suddenly slowed down in the middle of a chase"
"Magic?" The man gave him a flat stare at his answer.
"-"
"-"
"Alright," He sat up sighing, "It's my semblance, I can control gravity."
"Interesting"
"Yeah whatever, so you ain't a cop are you? so what do you want?"
He nodded, "Do you know who I am?"
Gray shook his head, "You famous or something?"
"My name is Ozpin"
"-"
"Headmaster of Beacon Academy for Huntsman" Gray's eyes windened at this.
"Why would someone like that be here, with us?" Gray spoke eyes narrowing.
"Well, one thing I hate to see is wasted talent and all I see is precisely that when people as talented as the two of you get caught up in these activities." Ozpin paused allowing Gray to stare at him.
"Yeah and? It's way too late to do anything else right?"
Ozpin smirked, " Not if you join Beacon, both you and Mr. Wilson." The teen was in disbelief.
"You, headmaster of THE Beacon Academy want two criminals?" He paused, "Is this a joke?"
"-"
"Oh my lord, Your dead serious" Gray leaned back as he began to think, he had once wanted to be a hunter long before he had taken up crime and had thought his dreams were over. Yet there was now a golden chance to be a Hunter.
"What if I say no?"
"Well then, I guess you only have two options, try a miracle escape with no weapons and live on the run or be without the freedom you so desire, behind bars"
Gray sighed, it was a no brainer really.
"Beacon it is"
"We will now be approaching Beacon Academy"
Gray had his arms thrown over the railing, admiring the azure skies and the rocky mountains. The landscape was beautiful and any other day he would have been satisfied.
Today was not any other day.
"Bro, are you good?" Gray turned to see Leon walking up to the railing, hands in pockets and looking rather carefree.
"I'm just nervous man, I mean it's Beacon," He paused, as he saw Gray's grinning face, "How are you not nervous?"
"Simple. This is the best chance we're ever gonna have. Plus there's nothing that can be worse than working for various bosses like Fiske and Torchwick" Leon shrugged before grabbing onto the railing and looking out of the window.
A hologram appeared of a beautiful blonde woman in a white suit, black skirt and matching cape.
"All of you here are the prestigious few who have managed to stand above all. As such to be able to maintain these times of peace we hope to be able to place our hopes into you future Hunters and Huntresses to be able to maintain said peace. We will do our absolute best to provide the education you need, We eagerly await your arrival to Beacon Academy."
The hologram disappeared as some students began to chatter, Gray grinned despite himself and adopeted a sarcastic tone,
"Thanks for helping my nerves, Ma'am", Leon smiled at the comment.
"Don't worry 'bout it, there's way more nervous people"
"Oh yeah, Name one"
As if on cue a blonde teen ran past, holding his stomach, "Oh my God, No!" He was making a beeline for the garbage can.
Leon smiled and pointed, Gray simply stared.
"Your right." He watched as Beacon became visible, there it was.
It was his time, a whole new chance to prove himself.
"Oh! Gross, Gross, Ewww"
"It's Everywhere, My shoes!"
"Ew- Yang get away from me"
"I just need your cape"
"Nooo, not to wipe vomit"
"Cmon sis"
"Never!"
Yeah, a second chance alright. Gray sighed.
A/N: Thanks for reading guys, that was fun to write. I got this idea reading "Hunting or Bust" by Master Attlon.
I hope you enjoyed the beginning, obviously this is just a pilot chapter and I know, yes OC's but to be honest in the world of RWBY there just aren't as many characters as say a Naruto or a Dragon Ball Z.
So I thought why not do this, bring in fresh characters and a new perspective on the story.
:) Hope you guys enjoyed.
