Gift of Voice (One Shot)
(Hey guys, I just figured I'd have a quick message here to explain something. I decided to make this story since it's xxxSonamyLover101xxx's birthday at the time I wrote this story. I hope you guys like it and especially you SonamyLover)
Anyways here's the story:
Sonic the hedgehog was a 16 year old hedgehog who loved nothing more than his friends and family and how they got along so well together. But he always felt there was something missing in his life. Little did he know, he would find out what that missing piece is.
It was monday, March 15, 2014, and Sonic was in his first class of the day in his second year at Emerald High School, he wasn't too fond of school but he wanted to have a good job in the future so he always did his best no matter what he tried or did in life. As for his brother Shadow the hedgehog who was 17 years old and in his last year of high school, it seemed like he didn't give a damn about graduating. Sonic was trying to help him get on track so he doesn't get held back but it seems like Shadow doesn't want Sonic to help him. Sonic can understand this since his brother likes to handle his own problems without some help. As his teacher kept on teaching, Sonic was taking every note he could. His best friend Miles "Tails" Prower who was 16 years old was impressed that Sonic was taking notes and has been since junior high but he never knew why he did.
"Sonic, why do you study so hard on exams and take note of everything? I mean I know you're supposed to do that normally but not as much as you do," Tails asked his best friend.
"Why shouldn't I? I mean, I want to graduate and you do too right?" Sonic asked confused by Tails questioning what he's doing.
"Of course I do, I just find it odd that you do this every day and somehow don't get stressed about it" Tails replies.
"A lot of people do, I just try to do my best that's all," Sonic insists.
"Well, alright, whatever you say," Tails said, still confused on why Sonic studies so hard.
The class was normal after their little chat and the bell then rang so it was time for them to go to their next class. Sonic couldn't help but love gym since it allows him to do what he does best, running. Sonic was the fastest person in the school and only Shadow could ever keep up with him at some points. Sonic entered the gymnasium and saw his other best friend Knuckles the echidna there. Knuckles was 17 years old but he somehow got held back at the end of last year's exam.
"Hey Knuckles," Sonic said waving at his friend.
Knuckles then sees his friend and walks over to him. Sonic and Knuckles were rivals and friends as kids but they never had a tiebreaker to see who was superior. Sonic looked at Knuckles seeing his red boxing gloves.
"Still liking boxing?" Sonic asked, smiling.
"Yea, hoping to become a great boxer in the future," Knuckles replied.
"We'll see how that turns out," Sonic thought to himself.
The gym teacher blew the whistle and the class started their daily running. Sonic was always the first one done it but only because he was so fast. Sonic kept on getting faster every day and everyone in his class except Knuckles was jealous of his speed. Knuckles and Tails were also friends but they weren't as fast as Sonic.
"Only person who could possibly beat Sonic is probably Shadow," Knuckles thought to himself."But if he could, I dunno but eh, anything's possible"
All Sonic could think of throughout class was something he had been wondering since the start of high school. What was he missing in life, I mean, he had friends and Tails and Knuckles were like family, Shadow was his brother but they don't talk much, so what is he missing?
By the time Sonic had come out of his thoughts, it was time for 3rd period. Sonic hadn't given much thought towards where he'll go for college yet despite studying so hard but he wasn't gonna let anyone decide for him. When he arrived in his next class, there in front of the doorway was a female pink hedgehog who was 16 years old and talking with Tails' girlfriend Cream the rabbit, she was 15 years old and just started at Emerald high back in september.
"You think Tails will ever go out on a date with me?" Cream asked the female hedgehog.
"Well, I'm not sure entirely but I think he will one of these days," The female hedgehog replied.
"Ok, see you later Amy," Cream said as she hurried over to her class.
"Amy…" Sonic thought to himself.
When he looked back, the female hedgehog was gone into the class.
"Damn, I better head in," Sonic thought as he walked into the class.
He was glad he did cause once he took his seat, the bell rang meaning for classes to start. This was Sonic's least favorite out of the classes he chose since his electives were both chosen and couldn't change them. He wanted to do a technology course but instead got brought into yoga, sure Sonic was fast but not very flexible. He had always struggled with this class ever since he started it. Not much happened in the class aside from Sonic constantly falling over from trying to hold the stretches he was trying to do. When the bell went for lunch, Sonic was relieved to get out of what he called 'a hell hole', but never talked about it. Sonic went to his usual place for lunch, top of the 3rd floor stairs on the eastern side of the school, when he got there, he found Tails and Knuckles there already.
"How'd you get here so fast?" Sonic asked.
"For one thing, you weren't running and second, mine and Knuckles' classes were right next to here," Tails replied.
"That makes a lot of sense," Sonic thought.
The trio ate and laughed till Tails brought up something.
"Hey guys, do you know anyone by the name Amy?" Tails asked.
"Nope, not a clue," Knuckles responded.
"I may have ran into her, she's in my yoga class I think," Sonic thought." Why do you ask?"
"Cause, she came up to me earlier asking me to go on a date with Cream, I know we're dating already but school's got me busy" Tails replied answering Sonic's question.
"Maybe she's just trying to get you to have fun with Cream, after all, you 2 don't talk much outside of school," Knuckles thought.
"Fair enough, maybe she's just worried that I don't spend enough time with Cream since I'm always busy with school," Tails thought to himself.
"Don't worry dude, you'll get a time to have a date with Cream," Sonic said reassuring him.
"Yea," Tails replied.
Eventually, the bell went and the trio split to go to their 4th class, nothing really happened in either of his last 2 classes so let's just skip to the end of the last period. Sonic was packing up his stuff and was about to leave when he noticed Amy going the opposite way the exit was. Sonic then decided to follow her. After 5 minutes of following her, Sonic saw that she was going to the music room.
"Why is she in here after school?" Sonic asked himself.
Sonic decided to walk in and peek through the doorway to try and see why she was in here. Sonic noticed a mic, music and Amy wearing earphones. Sonic connected the dots immediately, she's singing here.
Amy looked around to make sure nobody was watching her and didn't notice Sonic right at the doorway as she began to sing.
It's been a long, rough road and I'm finally here
I move an inch forward, feels like a year

Sonic thought Amy's voice was like an angel singing rock which he loved the idea of.
I guess I'm doin' all right and I'm on my way

All Amy could see once she was done singing, was Sonic standing right at the doorway in awe.
"What the heck are you doing here?" Amy asked, shocked that she had been noticed.
"I saw you coming over here so I wanted to see what you were doing" Sonic replied.
Amy began to tremble, she never had anyone hear her sing and now he had heard her.
"Relax, no need of shaking to ya die, I thought it was awesome," Sonic said smiling at Amy.
Amy blushes a little but Sonic took no notice of it.
"Really?" Amy asked, still not sure.
"I never lie to anyone so yes I am sure of it," Sonic replies now blushing a bit too.
Amy didn't know what to think, she wanted to say something but what? Sonic just looked at her.
"I'd better get goin now, hope I can hear you sing again," Sonic said as he exited the room.
"Wait Sonic," Amy said as she grabbed Sonic's right arm.
"Something wrong?" Sonic asked.
"No, just thank you, I finally have someone I can trust with my talent," Amy replied smiling at Sonic.
Sonic stood there confused.
"Not sure I follow, what do you mean?" Sonic asks.
"Long story, if you are free tomorrow ,I can explain it to you," Amy thought.
"Hm, sounds ok, I'll be here tomorrow, see ya" Sonic said as he raced home.
That night, Sonic couldn't help but think of Amy's voice and how it sounded, he pictured her as an angel singing from the heavens and Sonic then figured it out, she was his missing piece.
The next day, Sonic didn't talk much as he couldn't wait to talk with Amy. Tails caught on to this pretty fast and questioned what was going on with Sonic with Knuckles but they don't have a clue why this is going on. The end of the day rolled around and Sonic raced over to the music room to see Amy. Amy was already there, which Sonic was ok with since he wanted to tell her something. Sonic entered the music room happy to see Amy and Amy smiled at Sonic. Sonic walked over to her and Amy started explaining what she meant yesterday.
"Well, back when I was about 8, I looked up to my friend Sally Acorn since she was a really great singer, unfortunately, she hated me looking up to her so she never talked to me in school. I decided that I was going to someday surpass her even if she doesn't take notice, but she hated me for thinking that. I decided I could show her I can sing and that I don't need her to drag me down and she lost it after I sang my heart out in front of her. *Tears begin to form in Amy's eyes* All she did was beat the crap out of me saying that she would always be better than me no matter what and that I could never sing if she was around or she'd kill me. That's why, I was afraid of you finding me yesterday since I was worried that you would treat me like how Sally did," Amy said as a tear falls from her eye.
"Amy, I am so sorry for you, I promise, I won't let Sally treat you like that because…." Sonic said but then stopped.
"Because why Sonic?" Amy asked puzzled by his pause.
"Because I feel that…. I love you" Sonic said, feeling ashamed by this.
"WHAT!?" Amy said in complete shock. "You are in love with me? That can't be real, I'm nobody"
"You're more than nobody, you're my missing piece in life, the one thing I needed was a girlfriend who loved to be who she was," Sonic said as he grabbed Amy's hand. "I want to be with you Amy, I know this is sudden but will you be my girlfriend?"
Amy was literally speechless, Sonic, someone he met yesterday felt like they were meant to be together like Romeo and Julliet. She couldn't think of what to say, her body just moved on its own and her hands then wrapped around Sonic's neck as Sonic placed his hands on her back and they kissed.
Sonic and Amy found happiness and all Amy could say after that kiss was "Yes".
The 2 blush a heavy red and Sonic decides to head home before anyone finds him still here. Amy agrees with Sonic and heads home too.
The next few days went wild, with Sonic once again acing a test with 100%, Tails and Cream going on their first date since they became an item, Knuckles was seeing someone recently and Amy was just being happy with Sonic. By the time they knew it, it was the last period on friday. Sonic and Amy were super excited to be working on something in the music room that it was almost impossible to not think about that. Eventually, the day was over and Sonic raced over to the music room to meet up with Amy, once he got there, he noticed Amy wasn't there.
"Maybe she's just heading on over here, I can wait for her" Sonic said, eyeing her music. "Wait, if her music is here, then where is Amy?"
Sonic then sees a note next to it, it reads: "To whomever is reading this, Amy is gone now so she'll never sing again, if you want her again, bring her music so I can burn it, Signed Sally Acorn"
Sonic clenches his fists with anger. "I will find you if it's the last thing I do" He said as he raced off to find Amy.
Meanwhile…
"What the hell is the big idea of you kidnapping me?" Amy asked, looking very pissed off.
"I'm not letting you surpass me even if it means killing you," Sally replies holding a knife.
Amy can only smirk at her.
"Oh? You find something funny?" Sally asked, impressed at Amy smirking at her like nothing is wrong.
"What I think you don't realise is that my boyfriend knows everywhere in the city so he can find you anytime now" Amy replies acting like she was going to be saved.
Just as she says that, a wall gets blasted to pieces. Sally looks over at the destroyed wall and all that stands amongst the rubble is Sonic.
"Who the hell are you?" Sally asked, angered by the destruction.
"I think I don't need to tell you that but instead tell you this. I won't let you lay a finger on her," Sonic said as he disappeared like the wind and ended up next to Amy and untied her.
Amy then kicks Sally in the back of the head when she wasn't looking which knocked her to the ground and out cold.
Sonic then grabs Amy and holds her in his arms bridal style and races off with her.
"I gotta ask Sonic, how do you run so fast?" Amy asks as Sonic keeps running.
"I was born like this, that's all I can say," Sonic replies. " I don't think Sally will mess with you again if I'm around," Sonic replies and smiles.
"Regardless, we should make music together, would you want to do that?" Amy asks.
"If it makes you happy then yes," Sonic replies as he kisses Amy's forehead.
Sonic then runs off with Amy into the sunset and never spoke of this day to their friends.
