"Izzie..." Denny started.
"We've been through so much already. But we can do this together if you just trust me."
Denny started to tear up.
"Please, Denny, please do this for me! I can't do this if you don't! Please..."
1 "Okay, I'll do it, Please don't be upset," he said, hugging her.
"You will?"
"I will. For you, I will."
Izzie was relieved, and she set everything up. As she was preparing to cut the wire, Denny started to get nervous. "Are you sure about this?"
"Yes, I'll be right here the whole time. I'm not gonna let anything happen."
He sighed nervously. "O-okay."
"Dr. Burke will be here any minute," she said as she cut it.
Soon enough, Denny was in surgery and Izzie was pacing nervously. "It feels like it's been forever," she said to Meredith. "I'm kind of getting scared now."
"It's fine, Izzie, really," Mer said, "he's in the best hands. I know it's hard waiting. I know."
"No, Mer, you don't understand. He's been through so much already. He's waited so long."
"I know. I know, but he'll be fine. Burke is very good.."
"I hope you're right."
Hours later, Burke came out and said, "Stevens?"
Izzie stood quickly. "Yes, Dr. Burke?"
"He's awake and doing well, and he's asking for you."
Izzie hurried to follow. At the door, Denny saw them and gave her a smile "See? You were right."
"Oh. It's so good to see you awake. How's he doing, Dr. Burke?"
"Better than we could've hoped for actually," Burke said, giving her a pat on the shoulder. "New heart is strong and steady, and he's holding his own very well."
"Thank you, Dr. Burke. We owe you."
"No. All in a day's work, Stevens. The hard work is Denny's now. It's all up to him."
"No," Izzie said, her face firm. "Not just him. It's up to us now. I'm not going to just leave him after all this."
"Okay," agreed Denny. "Up to us now."
"That's right."
