The Start of Jily
James Potter got on the Hogwarts Express. He was trying to find the other Marauders. He bumped into someone. He apologized and realized it was Lily Evans. "Sorry Evans".
"It's fine Potter"
James went to go find the Marauders and Lily went to find her friend Alice. When James found the Marauders, he immediately started bragging about being mad head boy. When Wormtail asked him who was head girl, he recalled a badge on Evans' robes. When he told them, they started teasing him about his crush on Evans. He threatened to give them detention, which shut them up.
After the feast, James went up to the Head Girl and Head Boy dormitory. He found Lily crying on the sofa.
"What's wrong, Lily"
"My parents died in a car crash," she sobbed into his chest.
"I'm so sorry Lily"
She wiped her tears away and kissed him. James melted into the kiss. When they broke apart, James asked the question that he'd asked so many times before, "Will you go out with me?"
"Sure, Potter"
"Thursday in Hogsmeade at the Three Broomsticks, 11:30"
"Okay"
Lily walked into her bedroom and closed the door. James saw Remus hiding in the shadows in the doorway.
"I saw everything"
"I will kill you Moony"
"I won't tell anybody"
"Yeah, right Moony"
Everyone Finds Out
The next morning at breakfast the Marauders congratulated James on finally succeeding in getting a date with Lily.
"Moony, I am giving you 10 seconds, then I am coming for you"
"Is it my fault I talk in my sleep and they heard me?"
"Yes"
Just then, Lily walked in and sat next to James. All of the Gryffindors looked shocked.
"Snape's looking at you," said James
"Who cares?"
"Good Point"
Lily's friend Alice walked into the hall. She stopped at various spots at the Gryffindor table, the people she told eyes widened and they leaned over to tell others. When Alice finally got to where they were at the table, Lily said, "Please don't tell me that you just told half of Gryffindor that James and I are together."
"Errrmmm, I might have told one or two people"
"Alice!"
"Sorry"
Word seemed to reach the Slytherin table that James and Lily had gotten together. Snape looked murderous. He walked over to the Gryffindor table and asked Lily if it was true. When she answered yes, he cursed James with Sectumsempra and used a Jelly-Legs jinx on Lily. James blocked the curse, but Lily wasn't expecting it. Sirius was ready and deflected it.
"Thanks, Black"
"You're Welcome"
"We have to get to classes, we have DADA," said James.
And they all headed to the DADA classroom.
The Date and the Prank
Thursday seemed to come very quickly. James was waiting in the Three Broomsticks with the other Marauders. When Lily showed up, they left. They ordered drinks, James, of age already got firewhiskey. Lily, whose birthday was in a month got a butterbeer. James, never having much in stock for rules, gave her some of his firewhiskey without any of the teachers at the next table noticing.
"Hey Lils, want to play a prank on the other 3?"
"Sure, what should we do?"
"Okay you can't tell anyone about this, okay?"
"Fine"
"I am an Animagus."
"Whaaaa... but how?''
"Yeah, it was very annoying, a mandrake leaf in your mouth for a month. Okay, I turn into my animagus form , which is a stag by the way, and use a disillusionment charm and you hide under my invisibility cloak. You can throw balls of sludge or something at them, and I'll stab them with my antlers."
They executed their plan. The other 3 Marauders returned to Hogwarts covered in bruises and muck and found Lily and James alone in the common room. When the couple asked them why they were bruised and bloodied, they explained. This caused Lily and James to burst out laughing. It only took a few seconds for Remus and Sirius to figure out.
"It was you two"
"Yup"
Peter, still not understanding what was going on, asked James what they were talking about. When James explained, Peter finally pieced it together. They had been stabbed by something sharp, like a stag's antlers. James also had an invisibility cloak, which Evans could have hidden under while she pelted them with mud. The other three started yelling in protest. James gave them each a detention and took 5 points from Gryffindor. The rest of the Marauders knew he would take more house points and give them more detentions if they kept arguing. They stopped yelling, but they were still muttering under their breath.
"Want 50 points from Gryffindor and a weeks worth of detentions?"
The grumbling immediately stopped. If James took that many house points, they would lose the lead in the house cup standings. They all went to bed, Remus, Peter, and Sirius sore from where Prongs had stabbed them, and Lily and James happy and still smiling at the prank that they'd pulled.
The Dueling Club
At breakfast the next day, Dumbledore made an announcement that since Voldemort was around, killing Muggles, Muggle Borns, and others, there would be a Hogwarts dueling club. The first meeting would be that night at 8:30 in the Great Hall. When it was time to go to the meeting, the Marauders and Lily went to the hall. Many students were there. When they started, the teachers announced that they would start with a duel between two students. Professor McGonagall would be choosing one contestant, Slughorn would be choosing the other. Mcgonagall chose James, knowing that he was a great duelist from the time he and Snape had dueled in the middle of Transfiguration. Ironically, Slughorn chose Snape as his competitor. Everybody in the hall was interested now, everyone knew that James and Snape loathed each other. When they started the duel, they immediately started yelling curses and hexes. Both knew a large variety of unfriendly spells, which was expected, seeing as how James hexed people for fun and Snape needed spells to fight back against the Marauders and other people that bullied him.
"Sectumsempra," yelled Snape. It missed
"Rictumsempra" Snape deflected it
"Petrificus Totalus"
"Stupefy"
"Locomotor Mortis"
"Levicorpus," thought James. A flash of light later, Snape was being held upside down by his ankle. "Expelliarmus". Snape's wand flew somewhere into the crowd. Mcgonagall ended the duel and commanded James to put him down. Snape landed on the floor after a 30 foot drop. "Whoopsies"
"Potter wins, now sort into pairs and duel with them," announced Mcgonagall.
James was with Sirius. Peter was with Remus and Lily was with Alice. Mcgonagall, slughorn, and the other professors watched closely. When the club ended, everyone headed back to their common room. The 6 friends went back to the Gryffindor dorms, knowing they had mid-terms the next day.
Studying for Mid-Terms
At 3:00 in the morning, the Marauders, Lily, and Alice met in the Head Boy and Head Girl bedroom to cram at the last second. Remus, being totally attentive in class, brought a stack of textbooks, notes, study sheets, and exam practice tests that was taller than him. The other 3 Marauders nearly fainted when they saw the stack. Remus gave all of them except Peter a N.E.W.T. exam practice sheet. Peter, he gave a 6th year exam. Peter was insulted. It was common knowledge around Hogwarts that while James, Sirius, and Remus got top grades (usually in that order), Peter always barely scraped a pass. He had only qualified for DADA, Charms, Transfiguration, and Ancient Runes. The other Marauders had gotten 12 O.W.L.s each. They all were finished by 5:00. When they looked over their results, James, Remus, and Sirius aced it, Alice and Lily got once wrong each. Peter got 2 wrong on the 6th year exam. Peter got his N.E.W.T. exam paper, the others went through notes. Peter would have scraped an Exceeds Expectations if the paper was the actual exam. Then they had to go to a first period Charms exam.
Mid-Terms
The Charms exam wasn't as bad as they expected. The new system let them get their results instantly. James, Sirius,, Lily, and Remus got Outstandings. Alice made Exceeds Expectations and Peter made Acceptable. When they saw the overall results, James, Sirius, Remus, and Lily in that order had top marks. Only 7 others had gotten and O. Alice was the top students with and E. And Peter had an A so he was far enough down, they couldn't find him.
Later they got their report cards.

The Wedding
It was 1980 now, three years after they had graduated. Lily and James were being married. Lily was pregnant with their first child. Sirius was the best man and Alice was the Maid of Honor. The Minister of Magic himself performed the wedding ceremony. After the toasts and everything, the cake was served.
"Keep Wormy away from the cake, he'll ruin everything," joked James
"I am offended"
"We all know you're not Wormtail," Sirius sad playfully
After the cake was served, and as predicted, Wormtail ate a large portion of it, the wedding ceremony ended. The Marauders, Lily, and Alice went back to Lily and James's place and hung around for a couple hours. At the end of the day, they all went to bed happy and excited about the day's events.
Harry
Harry was born at 9:05 P.M. The 6 of them (Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, Prongs, Alice, and Lily) had been at the hospital for most of the day. James and Sirius had to go to the Ministry because of some Death Eaters that got busted (they were both Aurors), so they weren't there when he was born. Everyone used every possible excuse to get out of the room because Peter talked a lot when he was nervous and any idiot could tell that he was nervous as hell.
"I missed the birth of my son," complained James
"I missed the birth of my goson," complained Sirius
"You act like it's the biggest deal in the world," said Lily
"Whatever, we should let her rest," said James.
Two days later, when Lily was allowed to go home, the couple went to sleep without a worry, knowing that they had the rest of their lives together.
