Somebody shine a light
I'm frozen by the fear in me
Somebody make me feel alive
And shatter me
So cut me from the line
Dizzy, spinning endlessly
Somebody make me feel alive
And shatter me!

Shatter me!
Somebody make me feel alive
And shatter me!

-Shatter Me, Lindsey Stirling

She ran paws beating against the sandy ground, behind her, several yaps and barks from a pack of dogs chased her. She knew she could've easily shifted into her demon form and taken them out, but Nemy didn't like killing where it wasn't deserved.

She knew she should not have gone near that house, but she was hungry. The humans had left a full-feast sitting out on their front porch, how was she supposed to know that it was for a couple of unseen hounds?

When they broke free of their chains and began chasing her, Nemey knew she had to run, they chased her all around the neighborhood, and straight out into the desert beyond. Now all that panned out before her were sandy dunes and rugged rock formations. She was tired, her body weak from starvation. It should not have been this easy to go hungry, but the sprinting feline would admit… She'd been starving herself.

Centuries without a Witch or Wizard to call for her, centuries without a proper bond. She was growing weak, and Nemmey knew her time was everlasting. She was doomed to roam the earth, eternally exhausted, eternally lonely, prancing from human to human begging for scraps and attention, but never receiving the link she was bred to uphold.

Maybe she should let the dogs catch her, maybe then it would be the end of her loneliness.

But alas, the sounds of rabid dogs became more and more distant. She was outrunning them, and when the noise finally stopped, she continued to run, until her legs could no longer carry her. She was in the middle of a desert, vaguely she wondered if she was still in Nevada or not.

Her paws felt on fire, the heat of the mid-morning sun on her pure grey pelt had her believing she was standing at the gates of hell again, awaiting her duties. Her steps grew slower, her mind foggier. Nemey understood that she would not die from this, as her bright amber eyes scanned the immediate area, she couldn't help the gulp of fear at seeing nothing but a barren land before her.

There was no turning back, not now. The feline would have to continue her journey until she came across another town to test her luck. Her straggly, ruffed up tail dragged across the dirt as she walked, her steps uneven. At one point, she'd actually closed her eyes and continued foreword, nearly falling fast asleep as she traveled.

Her stomach yowled at her, letting her know she needed fresh meat, but she couldn't oblige it, there was nothing out here to pick at. Hell, carrion would satisfy her at this point, but there was… nothing.

It took a few hours, the mountains in the distance began to grow larger, the sun was now setting over the hills and Nemey was thankful for the cool breeze the moon brought with it. Her gaze had been pointed to the ground for the better half of her journey, and when she finally looked up to see how close she was: the last thing the feline expected to see, was a huge building almost directly before her.

When had it gotten there? Surely she would have seen such a large place before? It was almost as if she crossed some kind of barrier- wait…

She sniffed the air, trying to pinpoint any lingering traces of magic. A barrier spell was a simple spell to any witch, being able to cloak a place as large as this could not have been a feat made by only one; Had she hit the jackpot? Had she accidentally stumbled upon a magic lair?

A few good whiffs of the air proved her wrong. There was no tinge of magic floating around, her fur didn't stand on end at the energy; it was something else entirely.

Cautiously, the familiar prowled closer to the building. The front door was huge, standing over thirty feet tall, and each section's roof loomed even further. The cat was greatly confused as to what in Satan's name could live in a place like this.

She would've mulled over that question, had the hissing of the large, grey doors not startled her into sprinting for cover beyond a few… gigantic boxes. She peered out, fur puffing at the sight before her for perhaps the first time in her long, lonely life she felt genuine terror.

A giant robot- no, Two giant robots pushed out from inside those doors, their steps shaking the very ground she stood upon. Her claws unsheathed and sunk into the sand, Nemey was unsure whether or not it was to stabilize herself or her self defense instincts going off.

"Jazz, Listen." The voice was gentle, mixed with a slight metallic undertone. The one who had spoken wore armor that was dark orange and white. His eyes glowed a bright teal that nearly captivated the feline.

The robot he'd spoken to, Jazz, He'd said, whirled around. At first, all Nemey could see of the smaller robot was a large pair of… car doors that jetted out from his back like a pair of wings. When he turned, Nemey pressed further behind the crates at the fury, grief, sadness pouring out of the robot in waves. He wore a visor over his eyes, that glowed so brightly the familiar had to look away to keep from hurting her sensitive eyes.

He was blue and white, and his fists were clenched, despite the anger the demon could feel Jazz was harboring, his voice was as fragile as a moth's wings.

"Ratch, ah need time…" He broke off, and sat himself down on the crate Nemey was hiding behind, She froze, sinking further down on her hunches, using her powers to make herself slightly transparent; to blend into the shadow of the object. She was too weak to do anything further and hoped to Satan that it would be enough.

Ratch was quiet, watching the grieving robot with his lip plates pursed. "You still need to listen." He continued, the other fully. "Your taking this a lot better then we thought you would, but we're still worried. We dont want you to~"

"~What? Offline mahself?" Jazz snarled out, Nemey pressed her flank closer to the metallic box at his tone. Trying to understand just what she was overhearing. The familiar inside her begged her to comfort this creature: As her need to help outweighed her want to flee. She stood her ground, tall, pointed ears craning towards their voices, though, they were loud enough that she didn't need to strain to hear them.

"Ah ain't weak Ratch, it hurts but ah ain't gonna let it take meh. Ah jus'... need some time." Ratch sighed, the demon could feel his relief at his obvious friends' words. The orange and white robot squeezed Jazz's shoulder and sent him a pained smile.

"We're all here for you." He finished.

"Ah know." Jazz replied, letting his helm fall into his hands. Ratch, seemingly satisfied, turned back towards the abnormally high entrance; at least now, Nemey knew why the doors were so large. He disappeared behind the door leaving the other robot, and herself, in complete silence, with nothing but the distant sounds of generators as ambiance.

He sat there for a while, unmoving, every now and again the robot would sigh, and his emotions would flux, the longer the demoness laid there, the more comfortable she became. She'd been terrified at first, But the familiar could feel how broken he was.

He needs you.

She resisted the urge to hiss at the voice in her head, her own voice. Ears pinning back she answered the only speech she'd had the pleasure in speaking to for many, many years now.

He's a robot. I'm the size of his finger. What good could I do?

He's a broken soul, Nemey. You know you can help him.

But should I? He is no wizard.

Something fizzled, like electrical wires shorting out and sparking, Nemey tried her best to look around the edge of the crate, up at the robot before her; and the source of the sound. It didn't take long or her to realize that those sounds were actually sobs, a large glowing blue… tear? Slipped from behind his visor, down his chin, and dropped from its edge. The tear landed with a plop inches away from the feline's nose and sunk into the sand.

The robot was crying.

Since when has that ever stopped you?

She felt a rush of determination surge through her; the familiar's claws slid back into their housing, and she stood, fur prickling at the action she was about to take.

With a breath, the dark grey Nebelung let out a delicate-

"Mroww?"

The robot- Jazz, jumped, clearly startled by the soft sound, without wiping his tears he looked down at the feline, who stared up at him with bright amber eyes. Nemey meowed again, she came up and rubbed her flank against one of his wheels that she assumed were feet. She circled the same foot, then looked up at him again.

"Mrah?"

The white and blue robot's mouth slid into a sorrowful smile as he gazed down at her. He let out a sniff and reached down.

"Well hello there lil' guy." He said, voice wavering, sounding a bit glitchy. Nemey tried not to flinch at being called a guy, but she'd been used to it: Normal humans couldn't tell her gender at first glance like a witch or wizard could, the feline didn't expect this robot to, either.

"Aroww." Jazz chuckled softly. His large digit gently booped the tip of her head: She was expecting the thing to be so large it would squish her, but she was pleasantly surprised with how small his hands were.

Nemey pressed into the digit with a pleased purr, the sound caused the robot to smile wider, and she could feel the slight happiness it brought him.

Good. No one can resist the love of a cute cat, I'm adorable. Now be happy!

"Whatcha doin' all'away out'ere, kitten?" he asked, finally wiping away the tears that stained his soft grey faceplates. She answered by sitting upright on her back legs and grabbing his large finger, she butt her head against the edge then licked its surface. Metal was… a strange thing to lick, she had to admit, but it wasn't a bad texture.

"Mmmer, meow." Jazz chuckled again, gently, ever so gently, he scooped her up in his hand and brought her to his face. Nemey's claws extended, hooking into the gaps of his hands' armor at the hight change. He started petting her again, rubbing the crown her head between her ears.

That's right. No crying. Pay attention to me.

"Is tha' right? You'll hav'ta tell meh all'a'bout it, kitten." Jazz replied to her mews, she watched him glance at the entrance, then back down at the familiar, she felt her entire body tingle as he ran a soft blue light over her frame, the sensation caused her to shiver.

"Ya hungry?" He added after the blue light went away, part of her knew he must've already known, with whatever that blue spell magic was. Alas, she still answered, knowing he wouldn't understand.

"Mrah." She was rewarded with another grief-stricken snicker, and a soft pinch of her ear.

"Ah can tell, less' see what tha' humans have stored, hmm?" He stood, making sure to keep the tiny animal in his hand secure. Pride bubbled up inside the demoness as he carried her into the large building. He was broken, She was lonely. Nemey had rested her entire future in the hands of some unknown witch or wizard, hoping one would summon her, and take her in.

Until that time came, Nemey was determined to help this shattered robot.

Would you rescue me? Would you get my back?
Would you take my call when I start to crack?
Would you rescue me? Uh
Would you rescue me?
Would you rescue me when I'm by myself?
When I need your love, if I need your help
Would you rescue me? Uh
Would you rescue me?

-One republic, Rescue Me.
