PROLOGUE
In 1970 a ritual was performed in a rural city in England. This ritual set off the depletion of the Earth's magic, Mana, that filled the atmosphere. Only those people known as mages or magi have knowledge of this event.
Mana, the energy required to carry out large-scale magic, has dried up, and real magic has been lost from Earth. Thus, the era of "magic" has drawn to a complete close.
The magic society referred to this event as The Great Collapse.
The magicians of old, having cut off from their mana and fearing their demise from center stage, turned to technology and modern science in order to survive. Thus, several magician families venture in finding new ways that their precious traditions could survive in a manaless world.
While magician families struggle on their survival, the rest of human society that were unaware of the existence of magicians were struck by a virus that infect most of the human populace across the globe.
This disease violates the nerves in the brain, making the infected person to gradually lose awareness of the boundary line between themselves and other people. Ultimately they lose awareness of their memories until it kills them. It was unclear how infection occurs on humans.
The scientific community dubbed this illness as Amnesia Syndrome.
Due to the severity of this new illness, the United Nations launched a massive campaign and urged the government of each countries in finding a cure. By the year 1979, 40 percent of the human population were infected.
In 1984, a magician discovered the existence of Virtual Spiritrons. He based his research on a forgotten miracle that allowed the materialization of the soul that was lost in the Great Collapse of the 1970s. The magician then turned to modern technology and used it to redefine how humans thought of "the soul."
His research then ended up as Magic Theory of Virtual Spiritrons, a new foundation that opens the door for magicians to actualize their mysteries again.
In that same year, a certain scientist discovered the cure for Amnesia Syndrome by removing the virus from the infected's brain through a "hacking" method. The treatment was based on the Virtual Spiritron Magic Theory. However, the scientist died in a bombing accident by terrorist a month later.
15 years later in the year 1999, a group of policemen possessing special powers successfully neutralized a nuclear act of terror carried out by a fanatical group in order to fulfill a a prophecy of destroying humanity. In the following months, governments of various countries began approaching individuals rumored to possess "psychic" abilities within their respective borders, starting their respective research on said supernatural powers.
In 2045, World War Three erupted. Various nations that are part of the conflict deployed their magicians to avoid the utilization of nuclear weapons in the war thus introducing the existence of magicians and eventually the art of Spiritron Hacking to the rest of the world.
This is the era of Spiritron Hacking, a new form of Magic.
This is the era of Spiritron Hackers, a new form of magicians in the modern world.
This is the era where Magic is synonymous to Technology.
Hello guys, Eurobeat Lover here! So this is a new project of mine, a crossover between TM and MKnR. There are several crossover with these two series which I am aware of but in my defense, I want to try something new. This is basically a MKnR fic in a TM/Nasuverse setting (specifically EXTRA).
