Chapter one p1 :

PoV Harry:

The fourth year had been far from what he had expected it to be. When would he ever have a normal school year without some psycho sociopath after him? He hadn't heard from Hermione and Ron in weeks and was wondering if they were okay...

Lying in his bed in one of his white nights, he was staring at the ceiling, awake because falling asleep would mean seeing his dead body again. Cedric Diggory had done nothing wrong; he was innocent and had had nothing to do with this chaos so why had he killed him? How cruel did some people have to be to kill innocent people without compunction?

It was his fault. He had told him to stand with him, he had told him to touch that shitty cup. For how long would he have to wait to become freed from this burden, from the Dursleys, from the dark lord—for how long? All he ever wanted was a normal life away from what they called fame, away from dangerous adventures, away from his abusive family. At least for once, could god hear his wishes or prayers or whatever this was and give justice to those who needed it, give Sirius his freedom as well? For how long will my own godfather, the innocent man who has nothing to do with all this madness, suffer from the injustice...

Harry kept repeating these ideas and thoughts in his mind for hours until he saw the first glimpse of sunrise across his room. He needed to get some sleep before that man started annoying him in the morning.

His day before had been as usual: Vernon yelling at him 'do that, do this' like he was some fucking slave; his aunt gossiping over the phone with her friends about who was getting married, pregnant, or divorced; and Dudley lurking somewhere with his gang, smoking or drinking all night at someone's party. Well, despite his hate for his cousin, at least the young adult was having a normal teenage life...

Going to sleep early had been all that was on his mind. After finishing his chores, he had gone for a little jog to relieve himself; it had been months now since his body had changed during the tournament from all the training and everything but he was still feeling weak after his duel with Voldemort. He needed to get stronger, he needed training and for god's sake, he couldn't keep relying on Hermione for knowledge or on Ron's advice. He couldn't be stupid every time something happened and end up in crazy situations. The sorting hat had said he was a Slytherin once, and he started thinking he needed the cunningness of that house…

After a little reading, the sleepiness got him. Suddenly, however, he started hearing voices coming from the garden. In the deep dark of the night, he went to the window to see who it was but couldn't descry anything.

All of a sudden, his door opened.

In the heat of the moment, he grasped his wand to defend himself, only to see his godfather staring at him, smiling. He looked far better than the last time he had seen him and Harry jumped forth, hugging him and only calling for his name, "Sirius, thank god!"

Sirius hugged him back. "Good to see you too, pup, ho—" before he could finish the sentence, however, someone interrupted him—a female voice. "Sirius, catch up with your godson later, we don't have that much time, hurry!"

The woman besides Sirius looked panicked while Harry's godfather only shrugged, telling him to change and take his stuff because they were leaving. Harry was practically jumping from happiness—finally, god had heard his prayers, or Merlin had answered his wishes; he couldn't believe it, especially after not hearing from the wizarding world for weeks... In a moment, he packed up everything and left with them.

They apparated outside an abounded church, and the woman, whose figure he still couldn't see clearly, hurried inside while Sirius let go of his shoulders and told him to sit down with him. Harry felt uneasy when he saw his countenance twist in an expression full of worry and fear—or was Harry only imagining that? Clearly, Sirius wanted to talk but it seemed that the words kept betraying him. He pulled out of his leather black jacket a box and took a cigarette to his mouth, taking a drag on it.

When the relief seemed to have finally caught up with him, he said: "Harry, you know how much I love you, right?.."

"Of course I do, what kind of question is that?" Harry nodded. Sirius continued speaking.

"Good, and I would never do something stupid again to wind up in prison for another dozen years and be away from you..."

Harry's uneasiness only increased when he noticed how stressed his godfather was, running his fingers through his long black hair. Finally, he kneeled in front of Harry, taking his hands and looking into his eyes with sadness. "Years ago, James and I made a promise to someone—to a woman—that when she needed us, we would be there for her and if not for her then for her children. What I'm about to ask of you sounds reckless and stupid but I'm begging you, Harry, please get along with it, please do it, I have no choice... we're out of choices... for your safety and theirs, you have to do it..."

Harry interrupted him, feeling pain in his chest. "I WILL!"

He hadn't seen Sirius like this since the third year; what in hell was going on... When Sirius was about to speak, the woman from before came and said, visibly relieved, "We're ready."

They got up and entered that church, Harry wondering if it was some kind of ritual he was about to get involved in...

Lost in the deep sea of his thoughts, he didn't realise what was happening until he found someone standing in front of him. An old man—no, a man; scary but not old, with a big scar running from his right eye down his face and with long sandy hair that reached his shoulders. He looked at Harry, then at Sirius, and said, "I hope he's worth it."

Sirius nodded with sadness and guilt in his eyes.

His patience running out, Harry finally snapped and yelled, "Okay, what's going on now? I think you owe me some real bloody explanation!"

Before anyone had a chance to speak up, the gate opened again and the woman from before came in, leading in a girl dressed in a cloak. The woman lifted that girl's hood and Harry looked at her—she was so beautiful, more beautiful than Fleur or Cho. She had long black hair and red eyes and milky skin which reminded him of someone he preferred not to remember.

The woman spoke. "Harry, we are so sorry but this is our last hope for survival. This girl beside me needs help, protection, and home, and regardless of how strong we are, we can't give it to her... I'm so sorry I dragged you and Sirius into this shit but I had no choice… WE have no choice. Right now and from this moment you're going to have her as your companion, wife, and friend... I'm so ashamed to say it, you're too young for this shit..."

"WAIT... WHAT! WIFE? WHOSE... NOT ME... WHY IS IT ALWAYS ME... WHAT THE HELL ..SIRIUS!?" Harry panicked but this time, the one who answered him was the man.

"Young man, keep quiet. We're not doing it willingly. We're out of choices and she needs protection now more than ever. If you do it, I assure you your life and Sirius's will be safe from this Voldemort—you have our word. Now are you in or not? But I must remind you this marriage will stay secret until the time comes; do you understand me?" the man said coldly.

Harry looked at Sirius, who seemed helpless, then to the desperate woman. Who was this mysterious girl hiding behind her... Last night Harry had wanted allies and if he started working on it from now on, he might win... He cleared his throat, fixed his glasses and calmly spoke. "Let's get on with it... "

Then the girl came forth and took off her cloak. Harry gasped: he knew this girl, she was in his year—wait, who was she again? A Slytherin, and wasn't she the one Jordan Lee had a crush on?

He yelled. "DAPHNE GREENGRASS!"
