The outside of Zelos' mansion had always looked so appealing to you. You had born in Luin prior to the world regeneration. You had been living in Flanoir since the regeneration but had moved to Meltokio in hopes for a better life. Your parents were killed by the Desians, a group of half-elves that terrorized humanity prior to the two worlds being brought together once more. They had been killed because they had tried to protect you from being taken to the ranch for a new project, unknown to you still as to what it was. You just remember the Desians discussing it during that fateful day. You had just recently transferred to Zelos' estate as a servant, working along his butlers. Sebastian was very nice to you and always gave you pointers. You had never made your Sylvarant origins known to anyone in Meltokio, let alone in the region. You felt that if you told them where you came from, they would treat you like an outcast. Ever since the world regeneration, most Tethe'allan's have treated Sylvaranti's like vermin. You only assumed that this was just how they had always viewed things outside of their world and ignored it personally. You also weren't receiving those remarks as everyone thought you were born in Flanoir.
As you were roaming the mansion aimlessly, Sebastian called for you. He had been urging you to try and be more social, as you rarely spoke unless spoken to and simply performed your job and left afterwards. You didn't really have any friends, as you had isolated yourself since your parents died. He was doing this again, urging you to spend a little time with Seles and Zelos for your own wellbeing. You weren't sure whether spending time with Zelos was the best idea, seeing how Lloyd and the others often described him. You had come to know Lloyd Irving and some of the other friends the chosen had made during his travels. Lloyd seemed to describe Zelos as too flirty and a man-whore. Zelos never exhibited those traits around you, however. Or at least, not when you were around to your knowledge. He rarely ever spoke to you directly as he was always hanging out with other Tethe'allan royals and upper-class citizens of Meltokio, sometimes the royal family as well.
As Sebastian left you to finish cleaning the rooms upstairs, you sighed. You might as well give Zelos a chance. He didn't seem like a "bad" guy. You had just heard things that made you want to avoid being alone with him. Although he didn't seem like the huge pervert type, you kept your distance from him regardless.
Zelos was hanging out on the roof once again, fiddling with his sword (if you could call it that, it's more like a dagger). You weren't sure how exactly he always got up and down from there without issue, and you didn't want to find out. You stepped out on the balcony and shouted up to him.
"Sir Zelos, can we talk?"
Zelos was still fiddling with his sword as if he hadn't heard you at all. You sighed and walked back inside, not wanting to repeat yourself. You didn't like shouting, let alone speaking needlessly. Perhaps you were just shy in general.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Zelos POV + Small Timeskip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An hour had passed since he heard that servant's voice. He sighed, annoyed at himself for ignoring her. She never spoke to him before today, or rather not freely like she had tried. He proceeded to get off the roof and onto the balcony. Zelos proceeded to walk down the hallway until he noticed the servant from earlier cleaning one of the last rooms on this floor. He couldn't remember her name, and he felt stupid for it. He could remember all his male butlers no problem, but he really hadn't paid attention to the maids or servants, whether it be in his home or at the palace. He noticed that the door wasn't completely completely opened, so instead of going in, he decided to just watch from a distance. She seemed to be mumbling to herself. Zelos sighed to himself quietly, thinking to himself "She's probably mad that I ignored her earlier. I'm such an idiot Chosen." He stood there, trying to make out what she was saying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Reader POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were in the middle of cleaning the last room on the floor. You had grown speedy yet efficient at cleaning over the short period of you being there. Or at least, four months felt short to you. You were dusting off some of the shelves and talking to yourself, trying to cool off from earlier, as well as vent to yourself about your own issues. "Ugh… I really think Sebastian is being stupid about this whole social thing. I can't even talk loud enough for people to hear me. AGH!" You facepalmed yourself. "Why don't I ever talk to anyone in this city or have any friends here? I never used to be like this when I was…" You stopped brief sentence, trying to catch yourself before crying. You didn't want to remember that time. Your childhood haunted you to the point where you could barely sleep some nights. "Maybe if I expressed my emotions to another person, I wouldn't be so soulless and empty…." You sighed, thinking about how you had tried to talk to Zelos earlier, or at least get him to come down so you could attempt to be social. "Eh… Maybe I'll try talking to Seles later. Although, she doesn't ever come out of her room except to eat…" You pondered your options as you finished dusting the room, heading towards the door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Zelos POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zelos had heard everything and was feeling bad for the servant now. He saw you coming towards the door, and immediately regretted listening as he started to walk quickly towards the stairs. Zelos was able to make it out of sight before she came out of the room. As he came downstairs and sat down on the couch, he sighed deeply. "Man, she must be going through some shit. I guess I should at least talk to her. Never understood her quietness until now." He said this quietly as he peered towards the stairs. He noticed the servant coming down them and immediately contemplated to himself on what he should do. He got up from the coach and started towards the room that she was going into, that being Seles's room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Reader POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You came down the stairs and immediately went into Seles's room, hoping that she was in there. She wasn't, however. Instead of becoming annoyed by this, you took this opportunity to clean her room. Normally you were unable to as she was always occupying it when you were cleaning. One of the other two female servants usually did her room when you weren't working. You didn't ever meet them but had heard there were two others from Sebastian. They never worked on your days. As you entered Seles's room, you felt a presence behind you. You sighed, thinking it was Sebastian again. "Sebastian, I'm really not in the mood for another lecture. Can you leave me b-…" You had turned around at this point and noticed that it was in fact Zelos, not Sebastian. Realizing your stupidity and rudeness, you hung your head. "M-my apologizes Sir Zelos. I thought you were someone else. Is there something you need Sir Zelos?" You kept your head hung, not wanting to see his face. That is, until you heard him start laughing. You slowly crept your head back up to its original positioned, seeing that Zelos was laughing hysterically due to your error. Your face went completely scarlet and you turned around in shame, wanting to completely ignore what had just occurred. You started walking into the corner of the room, placing the cleaning supplies down. As you put the holder down, Zelos placed his hand your shoulder.
"Man, Sebastian sure must be a pain for you. I apologize if he's been pestering you lately." Zelos sighed. "Look, I'm sorry for ignoring you earlier. I thought Sebastian had sent you out there to lecture me or something." Zelos was half lying about this, as he just been ignoring her for the sake of ignoring. Although Sebastian did like to lecture him about silly things. "Did you still want to talk um… uh…."
You stared blankly at Zelos, trying to figure out why he hadn't finished his last sentence. It hit you. He forgot your fucking name. Well, it didn't surprise you entirely as most people wouldn't pay mind to a servant who had just started working a few months ago. "Um… it's _, Sir Zelos. I think that was what you were trying to remember."
Zelos sighed, feeling stupid. "I'm sorry _."
You looked at him, confused. "Um… Why are you apologizing? It's not uncommon for people to forget names of those they do not speak to regularly."
Zelos frowned, rather annoyed by the remark. "Well, you don't speak to me hardly, yet you know my name just fine." He groaned. "Ah, never mind. I forgot that everyone in this city knows me now by name. Man, if only I-…" He caught himself mid-sentence again like you had earlier. "Anyways, did you still want to talk to me?"
You just looked at him still confusion. "Um… sure. Uh… Should um… Well I'd rather not talk in here about it." You didn't feel comfortable being in such a small room with him talking about such topics, let alone his sisters' room.
Zelos gave a small smirk. "Should we go upstairs and talk then?" Without receiving an answer, he grabbed your arm and pulled you out of the room. He hurried with you by his arm up the stairs and out to the balcony.
You just looked at him with confusion as he pulled you out of the room and to the balcony. You didn't even know what you were going to talk about. You hadn't realized how late it was, as it was dark outside apart from the lights outside. You always thought that this was a pretty view during the day, as it overviewed flowers and the rest of Meltokio. You had never seen it during the night though as you were normally inside by then and leaving by eight. Zelos let go of your arm once you were outside with him. You still felt awkward being alone with him. You half expected him to have dragged you into his room upstairs instead of the balcony. It was six o'clock, two hours until you were free to go.
Zelos had noticed _ had felt uneasy being alone with him so he instead took her out to the balcony as to eliminate the discomfort, although he still noticed it even after she was out there with him. He shrugged. "So, what did you want to talk about?"
You looked at him with slight discomfort. "Um…. Well Sebastian said I've been very quiet and stuff so I don't know. I guess he wants me to talk more or something. He's always worrying about me so…" You chuckled shy.
Zelos smiled. "Sebastian is just worried about your wellbeing is all _. He means well, even if he comes off annoying with his lectures." An idea came to Zelos' head, however he wasn't sure if he should proceed with it yet. Instead, he waited for her response.
You faked your laughed at the comment. "I don't get why he cares so much! I'm fine! Honest! Heheh…." You looked down at your feet, pondering as to why Sebastian cared about her at all. You hadn't had any friends present in your life since that day.
Zelos sighed and decided to just proceed, feeling even worse. He realized just how much she needed a friend, or in this case, a hug. Zelos walked towards her and wrapped his arms around her body. "Look, I heard you upstairs earlier. Stop lying. I know your not fine." Zelos hugged her tighter. "If you need someone to talk to about whatever it is that has been bothering you, I'm here."
You were slightly shocked that Zelos has suddenly hugged you. As he finished speaking, you started to tear up. Unable to fight back the tears, you let it out. You couldn't keep holding it in anymore. You needed to just tell him what was bothering you. But right now, you could only cry, unable to talk straight.
Zelos looked at her with sorrow. He could feel her sadness and loneliness. He understood her loneliness as he had been told by his own mother that he should never had been born in the first place. He hated being the Chosen. "Easy. Just let it out _. Talk when you're ready to, alright?"
Once you let out the majority of your tears and had calmed down, you started talking to Zelos about having never had any friends yourself as you had felt the loneliness that came from losing your parents during childhood. You didn't go into detail about locations or about the killers being half-elves, not wanting to reveal to much about your past. You needed to keep your identity secret from everyone, or at least that's how you felt.
Zelos frowned. "So that's it. Well, we have one thing in common at least."
You looked at Zelos, puzzled by the comment. "W-what do you mean?"
"I mean I know what it's like to lose parents at a young age, let alone one being killed." Zelos sighed. "I don't like talking about it personally, so I just keep it to myself." Zelos let go of you and started to walk off to the doors. "Look, you shouldn't keep all that stuff to yourself _. It's not healthy. You can talk to me from now on, alright?"
You nodded and followed behind him. You both had been outside on the balcony for about an hour. Thankfully, all your required duties had already been completed. You had one more question for him. "Um… I apologize for putting my problems on you Sir Z-…"
Zelos groaned. "Cut the formalities please. I hate it, especially when it comes from females. Just call me Zelos. If Sebastian gives you crap for it let me know."
"S-Sorry, um… Zelos. I had one question was all um… Is what… I mean uh… Never mind."
Zelos turned around to face you, frowning. "What?" He crossed his arms. "I was being serious about everything I said if that's what you're asking."
"N-no that's not it. Um… Well your friend Llo- I mean… Sir Bud. He always describes you differently. Um…"
Zelos sighed. "Bud and the others have known me longer than anyone else here on a personal level." Zelos shrugged. "I get it, but I know when hunnies need their space and stuff. Did you think I was just going to drag you into my room and have my way or something?"
You shook your head, although it was a lie. "No! Not at all!" You laughed, trying to play what he said off as something that he asserted himself. "Um… You don't seem like the type to do that anyways sir! Hahah…"
Zelos was a bit ticked that she once again used formality. He could tell she was lying through her teeth. Sheena had made it well known that he normally fawned over every woman that he was around. Sheena was right, though. Well, at least until recently. He hadn't been acting that way in a couple weeks, but right now he didn't care. He wanted to teach her a lesson. He hated being lied to.
You started to walk past Zelos, hoping that the conversation was over. You were wrong. Well, the conversation was over, but the rest of what was just about to occur was just beginning. Zelos snagged your wrist and proceeded to drag and push you into the room one door down the hallway, which happened to be his. Once he pushed you inside, you heard the door shut and heard the *click* of the lock. You gulped, your face going white. "U-u-um… Z-Zelos… Uh… Did I say something wrong or do something to displease you…?" You felt his hands on your shoulders as he pushed you towards his bed. You ended up tripping and falling onto it, your back to Zelos who was standing over you.
Zelos grinned. He wasn't going to do too much to her, just mess with her a little bit. He stood there in front of her body, which was on his bed. When she finally got the courage to roll over to look at him, fear in her eyes, he took the opportunity to start moving his body towards hers. He frowned and sighed. "Your acting like you're in a room with a monster. I told you to stop with the formalities."
You realized the error of what you did, and your face lessened in fear. The blank expression you normally wore became present. "O-oh. Sorry. I didn't mean to. It slipped out was all. I um… Well. If that's all it was than I'll work hard to just call you Zelos. Please forgive my carelessness. W-well I really should be g-…!"
Zelos grabbed one of her wrists, his face growing closer to hers. "I told you, I'm not a monster _, relax…." Zelos grinned again. "Man. I've never noticed it before but…"
You weren't really scared of him anymore, just felt very uncomfortable. "Um… Can I be going Zelos? It's almost e…-"
Zelos, slightly annoyed, cut her off by doing something rather unexpected. As she was about to finish her sentence, he brough his lips to hers, not wanting to force it too much. He gently kissed her and then pulled away before she could respond. He felt that he had done too much and got off her.
You looked at Zelos, your face flushed. This was your first kiss so it took you by surprise. Zelos had started to walk towards the door when you decided to stop him. You got up and grabbed his wrist. "U-um… Zelos…"
Zelos looked at her over his shoulder, stopped before he could walk any farther. "If that was too much, I'm sorry. I just…-"
Before Zelos could finish, you turned him around to face you and slowly brough your lips back to his, trying to copy the way he had kissed you.
Zelos' eyes widened. He felt weird now. Like, love weird. This was a different feeling. He wasn't sure exactly why they both ended up kissing each other, but he wasn't mad about it or discouraging. It made him happy that he could cheer her up. Or at least, that's how he saw it.
As you pulled back from him, you noticed that he was looking at you funny. Like, really funny. You tilted your head, wondering if he was thinking about what she just did. You started feeling stupid. You thought "What the hell did I just do! I just did something so stupid! I mean, he did it first, but I disobeyed him so! Why! I'm going to get fired!" You kept fearing the worse, but that fear went away once Zelos grabbed your arms and pushed you back onto the bed. You looked up at him, taken slightly aback.
Zelos chuckled. "Hunnie. Is it okay?"
You weren't sure what exactly he was asking. "U-um, is what okay?"
Zelos chuckled a bit more. "You know, to keep going?"
You blinked a few times, still not sure exactly he was getting at. "Y-you mean kissing? I-I mean… I g-guess if you want… Um…"
Zelos chuckled more at her response. He could tell that she didn't know what he was talking about, so he assumed the only possible explanation: She never had done anything with a guy before. "It's more than just kissing. I just don't want to make you uncomfortable is all Hunnie!" He didn't say it loud, but every time he said hunnie it would be with such a cheerful voice.
You still didn't get it but you didn't think you would get out of this easily anyways. "Um… Ok. Yeah, it's fine. I'm not uncomfortable anymore Zelos..."
Zelos grinned, thinking that she had finally caught on to his hints. He released those restraints inside him at that moment. He looked at her with a different look in his eyes now.
You figured he would just cuddle and kiss you for a little bit and then let you go. But than you noticed that the look in his eyes had suddenly changed.
To be continued….
