"Oh my, oh my, oh my!"
"What's wrong, dear?"
"I think it's time."
"It's time?!"
"Yes!"
"Now, don't panic. I'll call the hospital. Work on those breathing exercises."
"Okay."
It was a cold, winter night on February 5th. A couple of merfolks were trying to get to the hospital through a snowstorm. They werein a hurry because they were going to have a baby. It snowed really hard, but the couple managed to get to the hospital on time. And it wasn't long before the baby was born...
"WAAAAAAHHHHHH! WAAAAAAHHHHHH!" screamed the newborn merchild.
"Congratuations!" the doctor proclaimed proudly. "It's a healthy, baby girl!" The newly parents felt happy to hear the news. "Can I hold her?" asked the mother. The doctor nodded, and handed the tiny merbaby over. She continued to cry until she was held into her mommy's arms. "Hello, my sweet little girl," the pink-haired mother said softly.
The baby looked exactly like her mother, from the soft, pink hair to the swirly, blue tail. The little mergirl smiled at her parents and they smiled back.
"Have you thought of any good names for her?" the doctor asked. The couple thought for a minute. Then an idea came to the mother's head when her daughter started giggling. "What about 'Molly'", she suggested. "After my great-grandmother. She have always had a smile on her face, and this tiny thing... her smile pretty much brings out the joy in all of us."
"Molly Lucia Siren... I love it!" the father said happily. The baby giggled as if she also thinks "Molly" was a good name. "Looks like she loves it too," the doctor said chuckling.
The Sirens smiled at each other. They were now the parents of little baby Molly.
As the doctor and nurse left to fill out some paperwork, the baby started to fuss. "WAAAAAAHHHHHH!" she cried.
"Shhhh, Molly, don't cry," Mrs. Siren said in a soothing voice. "It's okay. Mommy and Daddy are here." Molly, who happened to like the sound of her mommy's voice, began to calm down a little, her cries turning into sniffles. The pink-haired mother then started to gently rock her daughter back and fourth and to hum a little lullaby. Molly, now fully calmed down, touched her mother's face and slowly drifted off to sleep.
The father smiled at his wife and said, "You're going to be a great mother." "And you're going to be a great father," the mother said. She then looked back at her sleeping baby. "Everything will be okay," she whispered to her. "I promise."
