A/N: Hey everybody! A new story here featuring Zell Dincht from Final Fantasy 8 in the Naruto universe! The portal opens and Zell falls to the ground. He coughs as he gets onto all fours. A chilled wind blows through him and he shivers despite wearing a jacket. He turns to look behind him, only to see the portal is gone. He notices the strange architecture of the buildings surrounding him. "Squall?" He calls. "Rinoa? Selphie?" Nobody from his group is there. This causes Zell to begin to panic. He stands slowly, noticing the pain in his leg. A burn from Ultimecia's magic attacks travels from his knee to his ankle. "Damn." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a potion, which is a concentration of Cure magic. He unscrews the cap and pours a little on his wound, sighing in contentment as the potion knits his skin back together without any pain. Zell places the potion back into his pocket and takes a few deep breaths to calm his nerves.

"Where am I? Where did Time Compression send me?"

The buildings are all made of wood with colorful roof tiles. The ground he's standing on is packed dirt, which seems to be in an alleyway, between rectangular buildings.

"Am I in the past? If so, how do I get back to my own time?"

Shouting is heard a couple streets over.

"Leave me alone! Help!"

Zell cocks his head to the side at the strange language, but by the sound of it, a kid is in trouble. He sprints in the direction of the cry for help and soon witnesses a few men kicking and punching a little blonde boy. When one pulls out a strange knife, Zell sees red. He kicks off the side of a nearby building to propel himself at the man, kicking the man in the face while in midair. He grabs hold of the man's collar and uses the momentum to hurl the man at the others. The man collides with the other two and they end up in a pile. Zell lands in front of the blonde boy and switches to a defensive position.

One of the other men stands and glares at Zell. "You're going to regret protecting that demon!"

"I don't know what the hell you're sayin', but you don't go around hurtin' kids ya bastards!"

The other men look at each other confused, as if they didn't understand what Zell said. One of them turns back to Zell. "Speak in the common tongue!"

Not understanding the man, Zell furrows his brows as he keeps a close eye on the men's movements. "Are ya okay, kid?" He can hear the boy sniffling behind him.

"You saved me from them. Thank you, mister!"

"Yeah, you're welcome, kid." Zell whispers. Although he doesn't understand the kid, he can recognize the vocal tones associated with thankfulness. In Balamb Garden, each cadet is expected to take various classes dedicated to different aspects of completing missions successfully. One of these classes focus on how to differentiate between vocal tones, to determine whether a client or anyone else they interact with during missions have ulterior motives. This along with the class dedicated to focusing on reading facial expressions are a requirement to being promoted to SeeD. The cadets also go through years of acting classes to make each mission easier, especially undercover missions.

One of the men withdraws a sword and Zell scoffs.

"You think you can take me down with a sword? I can beat you with my fists tied behind my back!" With that, he gathers all the energy he can and stomps the ground, causing a fissure to travel to the other men. Their eyes all widen before they jump and cling to the sides of the buildings. Except, they're standing perpendicular to the ground without the use of their hands. "Cool trick. Won't help you, though!" Sprinting to a nearby building, Zell uses the momentum to travel up the side. His foot lands on a balcony railing and he uses it to launch himself further up the building, grabbing hold of another balcony railing, he flips over it and punches the nearest man. The man is sent into the side of another building, cracking the wall. The others watch as the man slides down to the ground.

With their attention elsewhere, Zell performs multiple acrobatic flips and somersaults to land back on the ground. He picks the blonde kid up and sprints down the alleyway, turning randomly. "You'll be fine. I won't let them hurt you anymore. I guess it might've been a good thing I landed here. If I hadn't, they probably woulda killed you." Zell continues to run until the buildings eventually run out and some kind of clearing begins. Zell looks back to make sure they hadn't been followed. Satisfied they hadn't, he kneels and places the boy on the ground. "Are ya okay? I see some cuts and bruises on ya. Here, I have something that'll help." Zell pulls out the potion bottle once more and proceeds to use it on the boy's injuries.

"Wow, so cool!"

Watching the boy's expression, Zell chuckles. "Impressed, huh? I think it's pretty cool, too." Once he's finished with the potion, he pockets it.

"Who are you, and what are you doing with Naruto?"

Zell whirls and moves into a defensive position at the newcomer's voice. Zell studies the strange man with the gravity defying grey hair. One eye is covered by a headband. "At least they seem to have some kinda hair gel here I can use until I can get back to my own time period."

The grey-haired man raises an eyebrow. "I've never heard that language before. Where did you come from?"

Zell cracks his knuckles, preparing for the other to attack him. "I'm ready if you are. I'm not gonna let you hurt the kid!"

The man makes some strange hand signs before placing one in front of his mouth. "Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!" A huge ball of fire shoots toward Zell, and his eyes widen. He kneels to pick up the kid before sprinting away in another direction.

"Don't worry, kid! I gotcha!" Once he sees they're out of danger of the fireball, Zell puts the kid back down.

"Enough!"

Zell turns to the new voice. The new arrival is a powerful looking elderly man wearing robes and a cone-shaped hat.

"Old man!" The kid runs towards the man with relief in his expression.

The grey-haired man runs toward the pair.

Zell growls out. "Oh, no you don't! You're not gonna take that kid away from his grandpa!" He sprints to intercept the man and when Zell's close enough, he punches the ground, causing a large crater to form.

"That's Tsunade's move!" The old man exclaims.

Strings of paper lanterns are thrown in the air towards Zell and he rolls away from them. The strange knives connect some strings of light to trees throughout the clearing. Zell gets ready to move, but he finds his body is frozen in place. "A Stop spell? Hey, let me go!"

"Possession complete." Yet another new voice says.

All of a sudden, the robed man is standing in front of Zell, with the kid's hand in his. The kid pulls lightly on the old man's hand to gain his attention. "He saved me from the bad men. He fought them and brought me out here to get away from them. Then, he used his medicine to heal me super duper fast!"

The old man looked down at the kid. "You were hurt?"

"Cuts and scrapes. Nothing I can't handle, believe it!" He gives the old man a thumbs up.

Seeing this, Zell thinks that everything will be fine. At least for the kid. For himself? He doesn't know.

"Hawk!" A man wearing a white mask appears beside the man in a crouch. "Search his pockets for clues."

"Yes, Lord Hokage." The man replies. He stands and walks over to Zell. Zell gulps a little as Hawkmask reaches out and begins to dig in his pockets. Hawkmask pulls out the bottle of potion.

"That's the medicine!" The kid says.

"May I?" The grey-haired man asks. Hawkmask nods and hands the vial over. The man turns the vial around in his hands to inspect it.

Hawkmask digs around again and finds Zell's wallet. He opens it up in confusion. He sees a bunch of paper inside, along with something made of a strange material. The object has what looks to be writing, and a picture of the man in front of him. "Identification." He walks back over and hands the wallet to the Hokage.

The Hokage takes the identification and feels the strange material it's made from. He thumps it a few times to get a feel of what it could be. "What kind of material is this?" He looks at the gibberish on the card, and he sees the young man's picture. "I have never seen anything like this in all my years. Is this new technology?"

Nobody can answer the Hokage, so they remain silent.

The Hokage orders. "Take him to T&I. I shall have Inoichi take a look through his memories. If he's innocent of any wrongdoing, he shall be released." With those orders given, Kakashi places a hand on the teen's shoulder and in a flicker of movement, the two disappear from the clearing.
