Author's Note: Greetings, all of you! I'm glad you took the time out of your busy day to read this fanfic. It's based on the Pokémon anime and changes the focus of the plot partially to fit in with a new OC who is just as characterized as the originals. It's a faithful retelling of the story of Satoshi and Pikachu, with a new OC and his Pokémon included. Shall we go through this story together?

Maybe you could review this? I'd like to know how to improve my writing style. Just don't unleash a nuclear flame bomb on me because I'm not Hemingway or Satoshi Tajiri.

I don't own Pokémon, but I'm not sure who does. With that, enough of my rambling! Let's get started!

Out of all the events that happen in one's life, getting your first Pokémon is an important one, don't you think? Upon obtaining it, your world expands so much that it might be a bit overwhelming. In fact, most people don't explore the entirety of it all, or don't even start their journeys, because of how overwhelming it is! Then there are certain people who are almost too eager to start their journeys, because they have a lifelong dream which requires them to start the journey.

That's what the case is for two... no, three young residents of the Kanto region's Pallet Town. Satoshi, more commonly known as Ash, Ketchum is one of them. His goal? Become a Pokémon Master! Though he has quite a bit of competition... especially from his friend, Hogoki, a mysterious but good child. Hogoki appeared in Pallet Town one day and never left... but even he doesn't know where he came from before. This is the story of Satoshi, Hogoki, and their friends and rivals...

Pokémon! I Choose You!

Pallet Town, Kanto - Day

Due to unfortunate circumstances involving Satoshi and an alarm clock, the aforementioned boy slept to quite a late hour and could not choose from the three starter Pokémon as most could. But the professor had a fourth Pokémon to give him, though they've started... on the wrong foot, to say the least.

Hogoki, on the other hand, slept even later... so late in fact that people had lunch before he woke up. Thanks to this he's not getting a Pokémon... not from Professor Samuel Oak, anyway. We'll start at his home, after he returned.

"Great... now what am I gonna do? Even Satoshi got a Pokémon, and I'm out of luck... maybe I'll get one next year."

Surrendering to fate, he decided to finally open the package that he got that morning which he tripped over while rushing to the lab.

Opening it, he saw something quite surprising in it. So surprising in fact that he checked the address three times to make sure it was his.

"...A... is this a... Poké Ball? And why is a Pokédex in here...?"

He wondered if this was a prank because of the... odd coincidence, but wanted to see if the ball contained a Pokémon. So he took the ball, and pressed the button, and with a flash of light came the Pokémon...

There before Hogoki stood a purple Pokémon, somewhat like a blob, slightly confused at where he was. Hogoki was also confused; he had never seen this Pokémon before, to his knowledge.

"I... see, so you're my new Pokémon, apparently."

"(...I guess so.)"

Hogoki had never experienced telepathy before, but it seemed as if this Pokémon was able to use it. He didn't expect it, and thus jumped back slightly from surprise. After calming down, he tried to scan it using his Pokédex.

"Ditto, the Transform Pokémon. It is able to rearrange the cells of its body and assume any form. Its only move is Transform."

"(...That last sentence is a bit incorrect, or at least for me.)"

"What do you mean? You can do more than that?"

"(...You'll see.)"

Hogoki was quite baffled by this, but didn't question further. "...We should probably get going, I don't wanna make Satoshi wait."

"(...Satoshi?)"

"A friend of mine, he's starting his journey today too."

"(Alright then, I'll come with you.)"

With that, they headed to the area on the outskirts of town to meet up with him. Little did they know, a new... at least, that's what they think, friend, is also around there, though nobody has seen them yet.

This isn't exactly the expected start to their journey, but it's good enough for them!

Back to the group on Route 1:

"This could be tough... There's not many Pokémon out here to catch or battle."

"Oh, c'mon, Hogoki! There's gotta be plenty here! ...After all, when you were here some time back there were so many Pidgey that ya couldn't see the sky, right?"

"That was when they were all migrating..."

"...Oh. Well, there's gotta be at least one still here. Let's try catching something before night!"

'...Gonna need all the luck I can have for that.' "Yeah, we better try that... After all, with Pikachu being... Pikachu right now, you'll need another Pokémon so-"

"(For now you can just use me in battle, Hogoki. I could probably give a dozen Pidgey news that there's something stronger in about... an hour?)"

Hogoki, Satoshi, and Pikachu all agree on one thing now, at least... Ditto is evidently a bit arrogant to them.

"...Good luck finding a Pokémon to catch, and good luck with Pikachu too."

"I'll need it..." "(You definitely will...)"

A bit of time later, Satoshi and Hogoki have had absolutely no luck in even catching a mere Rattata. Though a panicking Pikachu DID shock a Spearow which summoned its foul fowl friends. Hogoki hasn't noticed the storm of Spearow that is currently chasing Satoshi, but because he couldn't find him, he's decided to go to Viridian City to try doing so.

"He probably left me behind, too... At least I know the first place he'd be by now." "(...You know, if you need to get there fast, you could probably be in Viridian City faster by swimming.)" "Why swim?"

Then he noticed the stream that was moving much faster than he could easily run.

"...Well, it's raining now, so I won't really have to worry about drenched clothes." He proceeded to jump into the stream and swim as quickly as he could... only to be met with a fishing hook to the back of his shirt, which he quickly pulled out.

Then came daybreak after many hours of swimming and a few of resting... after some time of attempting to make up for lost time, he finally found Satoshi heading for Viridian City.

"Where in the world were you?! ...And why do you look like you were hit by lightning?"

"It's a long story... We gotta head for the city first." And with that, the next step of it all began. A journey to the Pokémon Center in Viridian City, where a new... maybe, anyway, meeting for Hogoki shall occur.

Stay tuned! This journey is to be continued...

BONUS SCENE: With that trainer that was mentioned earlier:

"I can't believe that kid just straight up and stole my bike like that! What's worse, he even FRIED it! I'll make him pay for the repairs... He's not getting out of that."

NEXT EPISODE:

"Wh... Who are you?"

"(Not these guys...)"

"If you ask simple questions like those to us..."

"The world's compassion is all you'll hear back!"
