I feel your judgement upon me in the shattered moon's glare,
Blanketed by its weight, it feels impossible to bear.
It seems death was not enough and so you torture me as well,
You plucked me from the afterlife just to send me to Hell.
You gave me this quest like a gift from above,
But I cared nothing for your task; my only goal was my love.
You both killed and resurrected me, citing the greater good.
Warnings against her fell on deaf ears, as you knew that they would.
I returned to her to be reunited in immortality,
Only to find her stripped of all of her humanity,
The isolation you inflicted that I can never forgive
Made her a monster I must fight with every life that I live.
Such mortal pain is something with which you could never bother,
You claim to be our sire, and lo, you act like her father.
Your means are beyond us, your ends are inconceivable
As you hand me a task that was never achievable:
To unify this new humanity built with dust as its foundation
Beset on every side by your brother's Grimm creation.
I see this world for its bloody, war-torn visage;
The picture of peace that you desired looked not at all like this image.
But what means have they to unite as she works to divide,
With no gifts left to resist whatever fate might betide?
Creation and Destruction have both been taken away,
Knowledge limited by all that was lost on that ruinous day,
And now all that I'm left with is a singular Choice,
Will I give in and forever silence my voice?
Or bend myself to this hopeless task you assign,
And battle my love to save a home that's no longer mine?
My own history now left as a forgotten age,
Its only artifact a being infinite rage.
Her hate unsoftened by love and unchanged by maternity,
Am I doomed to battle her for the rest of eternity?
Show me any insight to justify my pain.
Tell me that these lives I've lived have not been in vain.
I command attention, I demand that you explain,
I'm begging you, make sense of this nightmare you ordain.
The overwhelming weight of all humanity upon me,
I put behind me what has been for the sake of what can be,
But all the sky's rain and all the ocean's waters
Could not wash my hands clean of the blood of my daughters.
I carry my mistakes with me even past the grave,
As I strive to atone for every life I fail to save.
I will not settle for rotting away in this stagnation,
I will unify this world in the name of its salvation.
I died with last words of love on my lips,
Yet find myself alive in a new apocalypse.
Though this Remnant of what was has shaken me to my core,
I will not yield until I see the future that I fight for.
