Everyone is tied to someone by that one red string of fate. The location of the string changes according to the culture it's coming from but it's always the same story. A string of a certain colour ties two people that are fated to meet. But what about the other strings, the string of hatred, friendship, indifference? I mean it makes sense, why should we only be tied by one string? Why not many others? In every myth it is said that the string is impossible to severe, no matter how far it stretches the string will never break. But what about the strings that were tied by mistake? What if the other end of the strings that are tied to someone were linked to people who aren't supposed to exist?
"Many people would laugh at the idea, most even dismissing the theory of the string altogether. But what I'm saying is real, I know it for a fact since it happened to me. I don't really know how it all happened, but one day, I woke up feeling different with nothing other than the memories of the previous day engraved into my mind. A flashback. We all hate those don't we? I chuckled silently as my mind drowned with the sound of my own screams of agony. "So I guess I came back from the dead." my voice was a little different but I assumed it was due to shock, after all it's not everyday that you die then come back to life.
I got out of my bed and went to the bathroom to wash my face. "I look exactly the same" I murmur as I examine my boring brown hair and blue eyes. "I guess whoever sent me here couldn't be bothered with making me a classic hottie and decided to let me stay ugly instead." I laughed at my own joke as I got ready. I looked inside of my closet, nothing but skirts and dresses.
A sigh escaped my lips as I shoved some money in my purse and went out on the streets. It had been a week since I had come here and I still couldn't go anywhere without asking for directions to the nearest person. Thankfully, people understood what I was saying though my accent seemed a bit weird to them. "Young lady you don't seem to be from here. Where Are you from?" asked an elderly woman. "England" I answered, with a smile on my face. The woman looked at me peculiarly, "England? Where is that?" I choked on my own spit, "Is it a village in one of the Elemental Nations? I'm sorry I've never heard of it." she said. Elemental Nation? What? Isn't that from Naruto?
"Oh um... It's near Leaf." I said with a smile trying to adjust my accent to fit theirs. "Such a beautiful village, don't you agree?" asked the woman as she left, a satisfied smile on her face. Meanwhile, I was freaking out. "So I'm in the Narutoverse. Great." I immediately started to cram my brain for a backstory. With my luck I'll probably end up meeting one of the main characters of the show which could go one of two ways.
Number one: It goes well and we become friends. Number two: I say or do something stupid and change the entire storyline. I thought about it for a second. There are way too many unnecessary deaths in Naruto. Like Neji for example. I want to prevent unnecessary sadness for Naruto which means that I'll need to start by finding him a family member or at least invent one. Another sigh escapes my lips as the idea hits me, "I'm going to fuck this story up aren't I?" I thought as I spotted a familiar patch of silver in the crowd. "Welp. Let's follow the main characters I guess.
They knew I was following for sure. I don't know about the kids in the team but Kakashi's annoyed expression showed that not only he knew I was following, he was pissed about it. "Just come out I know you're there." he finally barked out. I flinched a little before forcing a blush to my cheeks and approaching him. "I-I'm terribly sorry for disturbing you shinobi-san but are you from Leaf?" I asked, staring at his headband, he stayed silent while Sakura nodded, I smiled at the pink haired genin, "What's your name?" asked Kakashi, his eyes analytical.
It's now or never. "M-my name is Uzumaki Aelia, I'm looking for my older brother." I said just above a whisper. Kakashi narrowed his eyes, good, he knows I'm lying. "I see. Well then Aelia-san I have a few questions for you." I nodded, glad he kept his voice low enough for Naruto not to hear, "Yup. Be weird if you didn't." I sighed as we walked to a more... secluded area of the small town. Soon enough, I was pinned against a tree. "My, how bold." I chuckled, my eyes dull. "You know you can just ask what you want to know. No need for powerplay. I know well enough that you can kill me if you wish to." He seemed to relax a bit but didn't let go. "Put me down." my voice was stern and demanding yet he still didn't listen to me.
"Alright well, before I do this... please don't hate me okay?" If there is one jutsu I remember from the series, it's the henge, I did the hand signs as quickly as possible with the image of the one person that would break him inside my head. "W-why did you kill me Kakashi?" I hated doing this, believe it or not I'm quite fond of the silver haired shinobi but he needs to listen. Blood trickled down my mouth as the purple markings on my cheeks paled. Kakashi dropped me, probably reliving the moment he killed Rin. "I'm sorry I had to use that." I said apologetically.
"I understand if you hate me." he just stared at me, dumbfounded, "You... how..." I sighed, "I know many things. Look I'm only telling you this because I don't want to get killed for no reason: I need to go to Konoha, I'll be acting as Naruto's sister in the time being. I'll leave after I judge that he doesn't need me. Deal? You can keep an eye on me in that time since I know for a fact that the Hokage will find me interesting and not that much of a threat." Kakashi shook his head, "Nope. No way." he said, trying to catch me once more. I avoided somehow, glad I did.
"You can tell him if you want but I'll just reveal to him that your sensei was his father and you never told him. Imagine how destroyed he would be, how angry." Kakashi sighed. "Fine, tell him whatever you want. But if this blows up it's on you." I nodded, "I never planned on throwing the blame to someone else. I'll be good." a smile plastered on both our faces we returned to the place where we were met with Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura.
I stared at the Uchiha boy for a while, if he's here then it means that the chunin exams haven't started yet. Good. I'll start from there." I thought. With a small smile I presented myself. "My name is Uzumaki Aelia. It's a pleasure to meet-" Naruto immediately started to jump up and down, as expected. "Did you say Uzumaki? I'm an Uzumaki!" he exclaimed as he hugged me tightly. I waited for him to calm down to tell him the next bit. "I'm looking for my brother. His name is Naruto. Would you happen to know him by any chance?" Gods I feel so horrible about lying to him like this, but it's necessary, he needs a family, just like I do. I'll need to tell the Hokage the truth though, or at least part of it. "I-I'm Naruto." he said with a smile on his face.
A small feeling of guilt creeped its way into my stomach but I ignored it, just as I ignored the hateful glare Kakashi was sending me. "Well it's nice to meet you Naruto!" I said with a smile, we hugged one more time before starting to talk about things that we like. "Right? Ramen takes so long to cook!" he exclaimed as I giggled. "So, Aelia-san," started Sakura, "Why start looking for your brother all of a sudden?" I smiled as sadly as I could, "Well, after my grandparents died about two years ago, I found a box with letters explaining to me that I had a brother who lived in Leaf. So I decided to find him and say hi," Kakashi shot me a disgusted look disguised as pity while Sasuke just acted his usual emo duck way
"So who are you guys?" asked, acting as if I didn't know who they were, "I'm Haruno Sakura," the pinkette presented herself, "Uchiha Sasuke," presented the emo duck. I shook both their hands and looked at Kakashi expectantly, "...Hatake Kakashi." he finally said after a pause. "Aelia-san I don't know if you're aware but you'll need to talk to the Hokage once we get back to the village." I nodded, "I know." was all that I said as I continued to talk to Sakura and Naruto, "Do you have a place to stay? You can stay at my house for a while if you like." proposed Naruto.
"Do you really think she would survive in that dump with you, Naruto? She can stay with me until she finds a place to live." Naruto crossed his arms and mumbled something about his apartment not being that dirty. "We'll talk about it after I see the Hokage. Chances are he won't let me stay, so..." Kakashi raised his eyebrows, probably surprised that I knew what awaited me. "Why wouldn't he? You're my sister after all!" exclaimed Naruto. "There's no physical proof of that." said Sasuke as I nodded, "We would need to take a DNA test. But I'm not worried about that. I have no reason to lie about my heritage after all." I shrugged, though I was panicking inside.
A few hours later we were now at the gates, the guards, skeptical after seeing me but a nod from Kakashi was enough for them to let me in. We all walked towards the Hokage Tower, my pace becoming hesitant with each step I took. We finally arrived at the tower and went to the top floor, immediately being greeted by a door that read Hokage on it. "You stay here." Kakashi mumbled to the team as he knocked on the door twice before letting himself and I in. "This is Aelia. She claims to be an Uzumaki." he said as he pushed me in front of the Hokage. "No need to be rough, Kakashi." I said as I glared at him. "And I'm not 'claiming' to be an Uzumaki. Please bring a Yamanaka in. I don't want to bother telling the whole story nor do I want em style="box-sizing: border-box;"him/em to hear it." I said as I pointed at Kakashi.
"Anything you want to tell me, you can tell him." I shook my head, "That's not how business works. It's either me, you and the Yamanaka alone or you aren't getting anything out of me." I declared, my voice stern. The hokage sighed as he looked at Kakashi, "She knew about the incident, she's obviously dangerous. You can't stay alone with her!" he tried to reason but he was stopped by my laughter.
"Bitch he's the fucking Hokage! You really think I stand a chance against him when I couldn't even notice that you pinned me against that tree?! Can you even hear yourself?" I calmed down a bit, "What I want is to be an information dealer. As Kakashi has said, I know a lot of things. Things about Leaf, things about... top secret organisations... and things about other villages as well. Pay me and you'll get nothing but the truth... as I see it that is." I hinted, the Hokage laughed, "I have my own ways of getting information." he said with a slight smirk. "Right~ well my information is way better than Jiraiya's but of course it's your pick." I winked. "Anyways, you bringing in the Yamanaka so that he or she can use their weird jutsu on me and see my memories or nah? I got shit to do and I don't have all day." I mumbled, in a bored tone.
"Watch your language! You're talking to the Hokage!" exclaimed Kakashi, annoyed. "Nope." was all that I said as the Hokage dismissed Kakashi and called Inoichi to his office. The man appeared before him within seconds. "How may I help you Hokage-sama?" he asked. Sarutobi pointed at me. "I want to know if she's going to be a threat in the future. You know what to do." Inoichi seemed a little uncomfortable as he approached me slowly, "This... might hurt a bit." he mumbled as he waited for me to say something. "Go for it. I don't have anything to lose." I said as he put his hands at the sides of my head. Then everything went blank and soon enough, memories started to flood my brain until the very moment of my death.
"Mom, Dad, I have something I need to say to you, can you sit please?" I asked, rushing them to the sofa, my younger sister at their heel. "I'm bisexual." my father's face twisted from patient to angry the moment he heard what I said while my mother burst into tears. My sister just stood there, a smirk on her face. She knew what was about to happen and it seems as though she's going to be enjoying the show. "What did you say?!" my father exclaimed as he suddenly stood from his chair and pinned me to the wall, slapping me hard. "I didn't raise a child like you! Do you really think I can accept you? You filthy bitch! Waste of a life!" he slapped me again and again. The pain slowly fading and turning into numbness.
Neither my mother or my sister tried to stop him, they just sat there and watched. "Stop." I finally managed to croak out as a little bit of blood trickled down my nose. He paused for a while, making a motion with his hands as if he was waiting for someone to hand him something. My sister finally stood up and went to get something, she came back with a knife. Taking advantage of the time my father let me go, I sprinted towards the door but couldn't make it in time. He pinned me towards the door and stabbed my stomach pulling the knife out almost instantly. The last thing I saw being my sister's satisfied smile as the cold enveloped me and darkness swallowed my vision.
My head hurt a little after the flashbacks but I was used to it. I've been having the same nightmares ever since that day anyways. Inoichi flinched a little, "What's that? That last part. You said you were bi... something..." he said pensively. "It doesn't matter. It was stupid of them to do such a thing over this. Just show the Hokage what you saw and leave me alone." I mumbled as I rubbed my temples, trying to ease the pain. A few minutes passed and Inoichi was finally done showing most of my memories to Sarutobi. I had to hide a few things obviously, they can't know they're just book characters after all. "Hmm... I see." mumbled the Hokage as he called Kakashi in and dismissed the Yamanaka.
"So..." he started. "You were a horrible person." I chuckled at that, he's one to talk! "So are you," I said with a smile, "You hid Naruto's true heritage, for what? You still haven't disbanded root. Don't judge me before taking a look at all the horrible things you've done." I said satisfied, "I did those things to save people." he said, his voice stern, "You did it because you needed a scapegoat, someone to blame for the attack. You could've protected Naruto if you'd let him call himself a Namikaze instead of an Uzumaki and you know it." I mumbled, "You're selfish" I laughed at that, "You're a liar." I responded.
"We aren't that different. This doesn't have to be hard. Just tell me, can I stay or not?" he took a while to think, finally he nodded, "You may stay, but Kakashi will be watching you closely. The slightest mishap and he will have your head." he said with a smirk, probably expecting me to cower. "Kay cool." was all that I said as I turned to Kakashi who was just standing in front of the door, a blank look on his face. "So I guess that means I'll be with Team Seven from now on." I mumbled as I readjusted my skirt.
"There's one thing missing in your memories though," the Hokage said, I stopped in my tracks, "...And that's what you know and how you know it," he continued with a small smirk, "Well what can I tell you? It's a secret after all. But as a thank you gift I might as well give you this information for free: an old friend of yours will be visiting soon. I suggest you watch your back." The hokage nodded silently, "Noted." he said in the end. "Dismissed." Kakashi grabbed me by the arm and led her outside. "I can walk by myself. Thank you very much." I barked as I yanked her arm free. "You have nowhere to stay." stated Kakashi as he watched me walk towards Naruto. "I'll find a place. Don't you worry." I declared as I finally reached the members of Team Seven.
"Well? How did it go?" asked Naruto as he jumped up and down, "Are you allowed to stay?" asked Sakura, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Yeah. I'm allowed to stay." I said with a small smile. "Well what are we waiting for? Let's go celebrate!" exclaimed Naruto as he dragged us towards Ichiraku. We found four empty seats and sat down, Naruto and Sakura asking me questions about my life while Sasuke silently ordered some tomato ramen. "Aelia, what's your favorite ramen flavor?" asked Naruto, "W-well I'll have to go with miso. It's so yummy!" I exclaimed.
It's true, I had the chance to try ramen back home and it really was a treat. "Ramen on the house since it's your first time here Aelia-chan." said "Thank you Teuchi-san!" I exclaimed as I ate nearly as quickly as Naruto did. "Wow looks like we have another Naruto here!" laughed the old man as he refilled my bowl. "Well of course she'll have the same appetite as him. They're siblings." laughed Sakura as she ruffled Naruto's hair. "I just hope the girl version of him is a little more feminine." she said as she shot me a look. "Oh trust me, I'm not." I said as I slurped a piece of noodle into my mouth. "But I'll try to be for your sake." I shot her a flirtatious smile and watched as she blushed.
We spent most of the night at Ichiraku's, talking. At some point of the night, Sasuke and Naruto got into an eating competition which Naruto obviously won but it still ended in both of the boys throwing up their dinner. "Boys can be so childish at times." I mumbled as I helped the two get up. "Sakura-san, could you please help Sasuke-san get home? I'm sure you know where he lives." I said.
The pinkette nodded as she mumbled something about Naruto being childish and dragging "Sasuke-kun" to an eating competition. I sighed at that and put Naruto's arm around my shoulder and lifted him up, taking him home. "Ugh~ Aelia, I think I might die tonight!" he whined as I put him on the bed, "Before being Hokage? I won't allow it!" I joked as I left the room, letting him change.
"Do you have a place to stay yet?" asked Naruto through the closed door. I shook my head before realising that he couldn't see what I was doing. "Don't worry about that! I'll figure something out!" I said with a smile on my face. "You shouldn't let someone in your house so easily. I could be a thief, you know." I joked. I could hear Naruto laughing from the other side. "Oh please! There is nothing worth taking other than my ramen stash here. And that is something I will protect with my life!" we both laughed at that.
"You're welcome to stay the night Aelia. I really don't mind." I guess he really wants me to stay. "Fine, but I'll be making a proper breakfast, don't expect ramen." I said, "I changed my mind, leave!" whined Naruto and we both laughed again. "So where should I sleep? The sofa is full of empty ramen cups. I'm assuming the reason for that is that you don't have any space in your trash closet left?" I joked.
"How did you know about my trash closet?! Have you been snooping?" my face became blank at that. "Oh gods." I mumbled as I went to the bathroom and changed into the pajamas I stole from my previous house. "Aelia? You can sleep in the bed with me if you like." said the blonde as he headed to his room. "Alright." I answered as I washed my face, noticing that the dullness in my eyes was still there.
"I guess I have dead eyes now. Dope." I mumbled at the mirrors as I left the bathroom and headed to my "brother's" room,"Good night." I mumbled as I closed my eyes and waited for sleep to overtake me. "Good night." answered Naruto before adding, "I'm glad that I'm not alone anymore." I smiled at that, any sign of regret that I might've had from the events prior disappearing from existence. "So am I." was my answer as I drifted off to a dreamless sleep.
