He locked the door on his grandpas truck and looked across the street to see if he could see a grocery store, town had changed a lot and it looked run down. The pizzeria had been replaced by a diner, figuring he would get a shake to go he crossed the street and joined a small queue. It had been two years since he last stayed at his grandfathers for summer vacation and at the age of 18 it felt nostalgic to be back. His brothers would be joining him in a few weeks time, Sam was away at college, and he should have been too, but was taking a gap year, he had taken part in a number of martial arts competitions to keep the money flowing and he had felt he needed the freedom to decide what he wanted to do, Sam was lining himself up for law enforcement and that was not what he wanted to do at all.
"Colt?" a sultry and self assured voice behind him drove him out his reverie and he spun around to see an absolutely gorgeous native american woman stood in front of him, he recognised that it was Jo only by her gentle brown eyes "Jo?!" he spluttered "wow! its great to see you, how are you?" he managed, she smiled then before pulling him into a hug, he felt himself slam against her breasts and felt the air leave his body. She released his stunned form and rubbed his arm "it is great to see you too, how long are you in town for?". He felt himself smiling a genuine smile, she literally and figuratively took his breath away. It was only then he realised she wasnt alone, there were several other native american women with her, all beautiful but not as otherworldly as Jo. "Summer" he replied, he smiled at Jo's companions "Hey, I'm J, old friend" he clarified to the quizzical women behind Jo. Jo's 'friends' just giggled in reply *oh, they are those type of girls...great* one of them tapped Jo on the shoulder "we will be at the car...err nice to meet you", she took a sideways glance at him before leaving. Jo smiled again "dont mind them...cousins, if you arnt too busy it would be great to hang out". He was taken aback, he forgot how confident she was "that would be awesome, err its only me though, my brothers wont be here for another week", Jo touched his arm again "it would be great to see them again, but I asked to hang out with you silly, i am at the reservation for the summer, back from studying, be great to catch up, ive missed you! Should I call you at your grandfathers?", she was beeming at him, he didnt know what she had just said, he was watching her lips, they were cherry coloured and looked flushed "Colt?" Jo said again "its cool if you are busy", he heard that, "im not busy at all, sorry what? Shall I call you? Are you at your folks?" she smiled back at him "yeah, im staying with them, cool, see you later then" she leaned forward and kissed his cheek and her warm brown hair brushed against his cheek and he caught the scent of vanilla. He watched her retreating form leave the diner. "Son... are you going to order anything OR WHAT?" was the irritated voice behind him.
Colt left the diner with his shake and looked around, she was nowhere to be seen, a mirage? He questioned himself. God it had been years since he last saw Jo. They had 'dated' when he was 14 for the remainder of summer and he had kissed her once. It ended when he went home. He tried writing to her but he was crap at writing, phoning was impossible on a shared line and it just sort of fizzled out. He had felt she was out of his league anyway, he secretly thought she had a thing for Sam. He figured there would be no pressure this time. She probably had a huge burly boyfriend anyway. The next time he had saw her was the next year and he was thankful she was cool as always and not wierd with him, they had gone bowling as a group, then that was it. He reached for his keys and out them in the locked door before realising he was at the wrong truck, he looked around to see if anyone had noticed before muttering under his breath about a ninjas concentration and walking to the correct vehicle.
