I've seen these type of fanfics done before but this time I have a prompt of my own. In what I call venting fanfics. So it's a mix between the recent episode death of the Speedforce and 4x15 Flashtime. What Jay Garrick says about the bomb getting thrown in the speed force and it would effect all the other speedsters. Since we know the multiverse is back wouldn't it happen now. If death of the Speedforce happens in season 4 because of the bomb being thrown in. That'd be a disaster.
Preamble aside Episode 6x14 Death of the Speedforce .. venting fic.
Barry was sitting in the pipeline. Thinking about what Wally said. The legacy of all the speedsters that tapped into the now dead Speedforce. Feeling worse that it wasn't just him that lost speed. As Iris walked up to him.
When iris told him he could not be the flash. It felt like a bucket of cold water was thrown on him. He fought about it each time he lost the speed force. Though each time the price was that central city would lack it's hero.
He answered it at Crisis even though flash of earth 90 paid it first. People would always be in danger. And someone needed to do it. The world needed heroes. Oliver called him one in his dying moments. With the Speedforce kaput all the heroes wally told him. The legacy was in jeopardy with so many people going to be hurt. When oliver protected his and Kara' .
Then it was revealed Thawne was somehow in Nash. Back again. Once again, the speedster that didn't quit. So many times he managed to come back. He was his reverse. And he was able to keep his speed force when he bragged about it. Making his decision absolute because he knew he the legacy of negative needed to be balanced. It's why he never ran away from a fight. He was one of the people that kept back the darkness.
So he waited to confess his filled tank. To post crisis iris. His wife has changed and as much as he let it slide. He had to draw a line. Iris never ever let him talk what he was going through as barry allen. It wasn't just him but the fate of the whole entire speed force family they have. Something iris never understood even having speed herself when meltdown switched his powers into her.
Mirror Iris going to the loft:
Later that night barry confronted iris back at their loft. A lot needed to be said on his mind. As Iris or mirror iris went in she could feel the intensity of Barry. She may be a mirror clone and had all the knowledge of her receiver or counterpart. But she didn't have the emotions to tell what was going on with her "husband." But could tell his emotions he was very eager to say something.
Some silence later until he says "I know a home is what i want. But i won't take it at the price of others. Crisis proves that for me too. You can't just put this under your flash file. There's more than just putting on my suit."
At her silence he continues. "Wally showed me that the speed force doesn't just stop at us. It goes on for generations. People that use their speed for good. Gone if I dont get the speed force up and running. Then people like Thawne and the negative speed force win because they still exist. Like our eventual speedster daughter."
Mirror iris tried to think of what to say but she couldn't muster emotion over her dead daughter nora. She thought she can bluff him making him feel guilty again. Though it looked like it would'nt be enough. She does sympathize with Barry though. Her purpose was to be a construct to Eva's plans but she wanted out a life. Any life she can take advantage of being created. "Yeah and nora still died. Completely erased at the end of it. All that the speed force has ever done is manipulate and rule over us. Which one will die next? If we are away we can forge the destiny of barry and iris. Why does this have to be barry Allen's problem."
"We still could do that. Make a life for us because i'm not going away now. But I can't run away from what barry allen can do either. You told me that I should think as Barry Allen more. Barry allen wouldn't want to put so many people in danger. Iris you seen how dangerous it was when you had speed. The situations created could destroy many innocents if there aren't those who are good to defend it."
Causing him to think of the other barry allen he met after the multiverse was gone. If what wally said was true then possibly the multiverse wouldn't be gone. But that's just speculation for now he mused.
That's when he see's it. Even without his powers there has always been a connection between iris and him. Started when they were kids including when iris discovered his secret. When meltdown gave her my speed purple traces of speed were left in her. That he can pick out like a heartbeat. With how stressed he's been from the Speedforce's death to living in a post crisis world. He didn't notice that there was no traces of purple speed energy in iris. Meaning there was something more than just post crisis. He was right from the very beginning.
Iris or not iris finally got his attention back after a few moments. But all barry could see was a lie. Not his wife or something blood work must have happened. All he can say is "your not my iris". As iris freezes like a mirror of the anger barry feels at himself and at this apparent iris.
Then zoom and this finishes like a mike drop. When both barry and Iris appear at the pipeline when barry pushes her in. All this iris musters is Barry. But barry already sped of. Instead she gets a hello mrs west from nash Thawne. (the reverse lol)
The end. no problem with the season. I just wanted to bring up a plot point from season 4 about the speed force. Maybe this ended up more as a rant fic lol. Anyways hope you enjoyed, curious to what you say. Rights go to the flash. Mike drop to another long fic.
