" Why did this have to happen on today of all days," I say to my teammate as I send a fire blast toward a wall of ice blocking us.

"Come on bird brats," Mr Freeze taunts is as we dodge his blasts. I catch Robins eye and he laces his fingers together to make a place for me to step. I sprint towards him and he launches me in the air. "I have to say you guys are quite underwhelming, " Freeze says as he aims his gun at me." Robin throws a Birdarang knocking the gun aside and drawing his attention.

"Hey Freeze," I call as I aim a kick right at his helmet stunning him. I land on the ground and put my hands on my head.

"Can you make this quick? Today's the day," Robin says as he moves beside me.

"Kids are always in such a rush," the villian says as he stands up.

"I wasn't talking to you," Robin says as our mentor stand behind Mr. Freeze.

Washington DC 14:00 EST

"How much you wanna bet KF is the last one to get here," Robin says as he nudges me with his elbow. I just smirk as we walk into the imposing building before us.

"Welcome to the Hall of Justice," Green Arrow and Aquaman say as Speedy and Kaldur come over to greet us.

"Home of the Justice League," Kid Flash says and him and Flash run up behind us. Batman motions for us all to follow him. We enter a library and the others look around confused. I cross my arms and glare as the press swarms the windows around the room to take pictures.

"You guys will not be able to see our entire base of operations right now you will only be able to see this small portion and others when one of us is escorting you," he explains.

"Wait, so your telling me we busted our ass for years to see this place and we can only see here?" Speedy asks obviously mad.

"Speedy calm down," I say, "You know there's a reason we're not allowed up yet,"

"What do you mean 'up'?" Speedy yells. My face pales as I realize my mistake.

"Look I was allowed up one time and it was just because they needed my help with something," I start to explain.

"Enough Elijah," Batman cuts me off. I hang my head in shame as Speedy throws his hat onto the ground and walks out of the building. Suddenly an alarm goes off and the adults rush over to the computer to analyze the situation. Kaldur comes over and puts a hand on my shoulder as the heroes rush out of the room. Aquaman stays for a second to tell us to stay put.

"All right at least now we can figure out what's going on,because I don't know about you guys but feeling kinda overwhelmed right now." KF says. I nod and walk over to the computer.

"Shit its encrypted Robin can you get in?" I ask.

"Freeze was underwhelmed, your overwhelmed why can't everyone just be whelmed." He mutters as he hooks his wrist computer into the supercomputer. "It's the same setup as the Batcave," he tells us seconds before unlocking it. We all gather around and look at the screen.

"Looks like the League has been observing Cadmus a lot," I point out just before another alarm blares. "Robin pull it up," I say.

"There's a fire at Cadmus we need to go now. " He replies.

"But the Leaguers told us to stay," Kaldur says.

"Forget them, let's go show them what we can do," Wally says as he gets into a runners stance.

Cadmus Headquarters

"Ok Robin what's the situation inside?" I ask as my partner uses his wrist computer to hack into the cameras inside.

"Weirdly enough it looks as if everything is ok," he says. I groan as I walk right to the front door.

"Wally I know this is gonna be hard but please be quiet for a sec," I say as I close my eyes and focus. I hear the thoughts of my teammates as I begin and then focus on the inside of the building. I hear the thoughts of the guards at the front and after that just white noise. "Shit I can't hear any of their thoughts," I say as I open my eyes and turn towards the others.

"Well we might as well just head in," Kaldur says as he holds the door open for us. I laugh before walking inside.

"So what exactly are we looking for?" Wally asks as he runs up and down the hall. I pull up the schematics of the building.

"There's a pretty extensive series of sublevels we can search to try and find the cause." I say. We all pile into the elevator and head down. I activate my masks heat signature reader and focus on signs of life downstairs. "It looks like there's a person on the lowest level," I say telepathically to Robin as he hits the button.

"K.F go check the area" Robin orders. K.F nods before sprinting away from us.

"There's nobody down here except for this person in a pod thingy," he says to me over the mind link. I run down the corridor towards him. I emerge into a room where the only thing inside is a person in a stasis pod. Inside the pod is a boy about our age with Superman's symbol on his chest dressed in all white.

"What the hell we have to get him out," I say as I draw my sword and try to pry the door open.

"How about I hack it and we don't set off every alarm in the facility," Robin says before pulling up a screen on his wrist computer. He spends a few minutes working on it when a small creature walks past the door. I rush to grab it but it's just escapes me.

"Wally grab it," I yell as the boy speeds off. He returns a second later holding it upside down. I take the creature and use my powers to try and read it's mind. "It already notified others that were here," I say as I hit it with my sword and toss it aside. As that happens Robin opens the pod and the boy inside shoots out grabbing Kaldur by the throat.

"What the..." Wally says rushing over to try and help. I form a fireball in my hand and lob it at the white-clad boy. It burns through his shirt but only seems to make him angrier.

"Everyone here?" I ask as I form a mental link between us. "Wally I need you to keep me out of the way I can't do much when I have to focus on linking this many people" I say as he runs over and picks me up. The rampaging boy throws Kaldur before leaping after him. I close my eyes and focus on entering the boys mind. It's hard to ignore the smashes around me and the feeling of being contstantly picked up and carried around. Eventually I feel another presence and enter his mind behind it.

"What the hell is this?" I think to myself before focusing again. I use all my willpower and force him to stop fighting. I open my eyes to see the others all confused.

" I used my powers to stop him.. these things are controlling his mind," I say picking up the small horned being from earlier. I enter the creatures brain and sever the ties to the boy who was going berserk just seconds before.

"What the hell happened," he asks rubbing his head.

"Nothing just you being controlled by a criminal organization who forced you to attack us. So just a regular day for us," Wally rambles. I smack his arm before pointing to the symbol on the boys chest.

"Do you know who that belongs to? I'll give you a hint your strength is close to his." The boy just shakes his head.

"Your wearing the symbol of Superman, one of the greatest hero's in the world along with the rest of the Justice League," Robin explains.

"We don't have time for this," Kaldur says before dragging us along.

"Follow us," I tell the boy telepathically.

"STAY OUT OF MY HEAD," he shouts ripping the pod out of the ground. I sprint towards the elevator as he starts to follow me. As we enter Aqualad takes out his water-bearers ready for another rampage. This time however, the boy calms down and we are able to begin leaving the facility. Halfway up our ride, the elevator jerks to a halt.

"I'm on it," Robin says bringing up the computer on his gauntlet. I activate the thermal sensors in my mask and see dozens of aliens walking around right outside the elevator doors.

"Shit, everybody get ready. There's a whole lotta those aliens out here," I say forming a fireball in my hand. Robing continues tapping away to try and open the elevator doors. It feels like it takes hours before my partner can get the doors open. The doors slide open the tiniest bit and I send a wall of flames out before us. The aliens all scramble to avoid it as we rush out of the elevator. Dozens of guards come running up to us to try and stop us. My eyes begin to glow as I summon a line of fire into the form of a bird. I thrust my hand out and the bird goes to work taking care of the aliens.

"Great job. Except Batman's gonna freak if he figures out you killed them," Robin says. I rub my neck sheepishly before burning the bodies.

"It's really hard to remember the no killing thing when I was growing up to be a killer," I say. He just shrugs as the others begin to leave.
