Kung Fu Panda: The Night Warrior
Ever thought life was against you? Thought that it was unfair? Or even that it was just purposely cruel?
Well, that's going through my head right now. Everywhere we turn trouble seems to follow my sister and me. It's been a really rough last five months for us. We've fled our home, lost our family, our friends, and to top it all off we were starving.
And now a bunch of bandits was mugging us, with swords in their hands. Looking ready to attack. Though I could see none of them looked like they had the eyes of a killer, their stances were more ready for a lunging attack. And of course in the back, I could see two of them looked regretful to be doing this. Life was indeed cruel. "Now please hand us everything you got!" came a raspy voice from the leopard in the front. His fur was unkempt. His eyes looked heavy. His arm looked tired. The rest looked similar to this.
I couldn't help but wonder. What exactly happened to them to force them down this path? I was always asking questions. I was always thinking, according to my little sister I was an overthinker. But I felt that I needed to ask these questions. Why? That I didn't know.
I paid more attention to the two in the back, their story I was the most curious to hear. I could see clearer in them than any of the other bandits that they didn't like what they were doing. "Why?" I asked, with a gentle tone, I was always soft-spoken, it was just who I was.
My question caught them off guard. Mostly the leader. But after a few moments of his noticeable confusion, to which I could see all their guards dropped, he laughed. "Because I want your shit kid! You must be hiding something good in the bag of yours, and maybe the girl too!"
As he said that another person spoke quietly, "Yeah and she's pretty hot too," to which someone had replied something about taking her and having some fun. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't even slightly ticked that they talked about doing such crude things to my sister.
There were about five of them in total. The dude in the front with the raspy voice, the two men behind him who had no manners, and the two girls in the back that looked to be twins. They were a leopard, two wolves, and the two in the back were female snow leopards. With a sigh, mostly meant to calm me down, I spoke again, "No as in why did you turn down this path? What happened to you?"
"None of your business shithead now hand over your shit!" Suddenly the two wolves started to laugh. And they weren't being quiet, in fact, it was rather the opposite, they were extremely loud.
With a sigh, I took off my bag, though instead of handing it to him I put it to the side. "Look after my bag Yating, I'll finish this quickly," Seeing her nod was enough confirmation for me. I wasn't gonna do this but those wolves insolence really set me over the edge, mostly with that remark about my sister.
"HA YOU!" the wolf from before said, confidence was just written all over him. I just couldn't wait until I knocked him to the ground.
As my answer, all I did was stand to leave everything around me open. I wore a sweatshirt so I put my hood up and put my paws in my pockets. My legs not too far apart. I just stood there casually. Waiting for one of them to make their move.
Everyone was silent, they seemed eager to fight me. Well most of them. They looked at my stance confused them at first but soon enough. The supposed leader charged at me. And as I suspected, his attack was meant as a lunging thrust with his sword. His movements were faster than most bandits I've faced but he was still very slow to me. I swiftly dodged by turning to the side and faced him, his confused expression was quite funny. That was short-lived however as he fell into quite a rage seeing as his attack only hit the air. He swung his sword rapidly at me, to which I easily dodged as I waited for him to tire himself out. When he finally was exhausted from attacking I did a quick spinning back fist which knocked him out cold. I then turned to the others and waited once again.
The other wolf I didn't really care for ran after me with his buddy. This I was looking forward to. I was excited to hit these two for their insolence more than anything. Though I didn't want to take to long.
Do I end it quickly or let them attack a little?
I instinctively took a quick glance at my younger sister to see how she was, she didn't seem too worried yet so I guess I was good. The thought of hitting these two brought a smile to my face. The first wolf immediately went for a diagonal slice aimed at my abdomen to which I quickly backstepped to dodge it. His buddy then swiped horizontally at my neck to which I ducked under. By then the first wolf had recovered and attempted to thrust at my chest. As retaliation, I spun forward barely escaping the thrust and countered with another spinning back fist. I decided before he could recover I'd combo it with a roundhouse kick to his side. I then finished him off with a right over-hand punch. As he fell unconscious I looked to the one I was the most eager to hurt. He looked at me, anger plastered on his face, To which I grinned. I would voice myself to him about how I was gonna enjoy knocking him out but ultimately decided against it. Why? Well simply put I don't like to brag about myself.
He charged quickly at me ready to try and inflict immense pain to me. Of course, the keyword was try. His attacks proved to be the easiest to dodge as his attacks were the slowest. Though even with the worse speed I could see the power he used with each swing, so I had to be on guard no matter what. Not to say that I wasn't gonna at any point in time. He kept thrusting and swinging that sword for quite a while, and if I'm honest it made me quite bored. So I decided to end it. After he sent another thrust I leaned my head to my side and grabbed his arm. From there I pulled him closer and kneed him quickly to his abdomen and watched as he dropped his sword and stumbled backward. "Never again speak ill of my sister," I stated with a frown as I did a tornado kick that landed right on his right temple. My favorite move by far. And probably the most deadly in my arsenal with hand to hand combat.
As he fell unconscious I turned to the two snow leopards and saw as they fell in fear. There was no way I could bring myself to fight such innocent eyes. I mean don't get me wrong they were bad at the moment being bandits but they, in general, didn't seem like bad people. So I made my way over to them and went on one knee. "Listen. I won't hurt you two. I could see it in your eyes that you didn't want to do this. Though I'll leave you with this. Get a job. Earm=n money like others. Just don't choose this path," I gave them a warm smile, trying not to be intimidating. I saw as they gave a quiet thank you and waved me goodbye.
I certainly hope they turn a new leaf. Who knows maybe I'll see them again someday and maybe I'll befriend them. They seemed rather nice. Maybe I'll be able to teach them how to defend themselves.
I was taken out of my thoughts thanks to a sigh that came from my sister, "Just couldn't help yourself Jun could you?"
"What? They spoke ill of you and as your big brother it is my duty to beat up anyone who dares speak like that of my little sister!" I said putting my hands up in defense.
"That's not what I'm talking about! For one you know I love seeing you fight, since it's so rare, and two I'm talking about the two girls. You took one look at them and with your big heart you thought to save them instead of fighting them, again!" My sister and I thought very differently. She thought that people who stood by the same path would never change. Well, at least now she did.
I rubbed the back of my neck nervously, "I know I know... But I saw their eyes and I could just tell that they didn't want to hurt us and that they were good people! And you saw them! They looked so scared because of me! I couldn't live with myself if I made good people fear me. And I know they can change!"
"Brother. When has any bandits we've run into ever changed? All the ones we ran into more than once that you've spared. Have any of them changed?" she questioned me. Rhetorically of course. We both knew the answer.
"Well... no," I sighed in defeat.
"I swear your heart will kill us one day Jun," She said that with a sigh as she handed me my bag.
"I know, I'm sorry Yating,"
"Just because of that you don't get to eat tonight," She said with a sly grin.
"What no!... Wait I'm the cook!"
"Still no food for you," She said with a shrug and a laugh.
Yep, life was cruel.
At The Jade Palace
Master Shifu was once again at the Peachtree. It was where he meditated often. And of course the only time he could speak with Oogway, whenever his master had shown himself anyway. It had been almost a year since his students had defeated Kai and since then the Valley of Peace and China hadn't had a huge problem. It was honestly quite relaxing for him.
"Ah Shifu, my old friend," came a calming and heartwarming voice. One that the old red panda definitely knew. And one he was always happy to hear.
"Master Oogway! How is the spirit world?" Shifu said with a rare grin. He had started to grin more and more over the last two years since meeting Po but it was still quite a shock to see the more it happened.
"It has been very nice. Like a calm stream. But sadly my old friend that is not why I am here," Oogway said, with concern in his voice. That didn't go unnoticed by Shifu.
"What is wrong Master Oogway?" Shifu had asked. His voice suddenly showing how worried he was. He knew that if Oogway came to him this concerned that had to mean that this was serious. And with how Oogways voice sounded, this could be their toughest challenge yet.
"Shifu, something bad is gonna happen. I can feel it. A great danger that not only threatens Kung Fu and China. But a great danger that may affect the world. And I don't think that you and your students are enough to face it,"
Shifu couldn't believe it. A danger that his students and himself weren't enough to face? Seven masters of Kung Fu wouldn't be enough? How? They had beaten many trials so how? "Oogway, I don't think I understand,"
"Shifu, for once not even I have the answer, never in my long life and afterlife have I ever had a feeling this bad. This brings fear to me as well as Shifu. But I do know this, there is someone out there. Who somehow by a string of fate and destiny who is on his way here. He'll be with a younger girl, and he will be the hidden weapon you need to fight this great evil,"
"How do you know that?"
"Shifu I know because the universe told me,"
The universe had told Oogway? What made this man so special? How would he be helpful? Would he even know Kung Fu or would he be another Po?
So many questions and no answers. And now a distressed Shifu who knew he'd have to tell his students to be on the lookout. "Master Oogway can you at least describe him a little?"
Oogway had pondered before he closes his eyes and began to frown, it seemed like he was trying to have a vision of the man in question. Shifu waited patiently. After what felt like an eternity thanks to the anxiety growing in Shifu Oogway finally spoke. "He will be a Panther, about 178 centimeters and his companion will be a Jaguar around 167 centimeters. His voice will be gentle and hers energetic. They will most likely show up tomorrow or a day later,"
Shifu made a mental note of what Oogway had said and bid his master farewell. Worried about this danger he got ready to call the six students he had to a meeting.
Well, this is the start of my Kung Fu Panda fic. I hope you all enjoyed it and I'll see all you amazing people in the next chapter!
