AN: So, after several years I finally found the will and inspiration to rewrite this beast of a story that I started so long ago. All I had at that point was my love for this couple and while that had me writing for a long time it's just not enough to make a good story. Looking through it I can tell, besides the horrible grammar, that it just doesn't hold together on so many points and there are quite a few things that I am unhappy with. I've now taken the time to sit down and plan out the plot and details much more thouroughly than before which will be a huge help in this rewrite. This of course means that there will be quite a lot of changes. Some parts will just be cleaned up and slightly tweeked while others will be completely rewritten. That being said, while my grammar has improved there will definitely still be some mistakes, but at least the spelling isn't horrid and the mistakes shouldn't be so bad that they'll ruin the flow.

Lastly I'd like to thank all the fans of the original fic for the love and feedback. If any of you are still around I do hope you'll enjoy this rewrite. I also look forward to engaging new readers. I hope you all will enjoy this story! Let me know by a fav, follow, comment or all three. It would mean a bunch!

Now, onwards to chapter 1.

"Usagi! You are going to be late if you don't hurry!" Her mom shouted from the kitchen,

Usagi who was laying in her bed still half asleep panicked when she looked at her alarm clock. How was she supposed to reach school in just ten minutes! She jumped out of the bed, got dressed, grabbed her school bag and with a quick "Bye mom!" she ran off towards school. She was exhausted when she finally reached the school entrance but she had made it with a couple of minutes to spare. A new personal record she noted proudly.

"Gosh you look really tired Usagi-chan, overslept again?"

Usagi turned around to meet her friend Makoto "Kind of" she replied, still catching her breath.

Makoto laughed and shook her head, "Same old Usagi."

Usagi was about to protest but was interrupted by the bell ringing in. "Let's go before we're late to our class" Makoto said and walked into the building. "We've got that math test this morning, remember?"

Usagi blinked at her "...What?"

"You forgot, didn't you?" Makoto said and looked at Usagi with a Why-am-I-not-surprised look on her face

"Why does this always happen to me!" Usagi whined as they walked into their classroom.

They sat down in their places and the teacher started to talk. "As you all should know we have an important test today, I hope you've studied." She addressed the whole class but her eyes lingered on Usagi on the last part, whom in return let out a loud sigh. She had promised her parents that she would do better in school and this wasn't exactly a good start to that.

The teacher handed out the tests. "You have 50 minutes from right now, good luck"

Everybody started to write except Usagi, she didn't understand anything. When the teacher 50 minutes later told everybody to drop their pen she hadn't even done half of all the questions. The teacher collected the tests and the rest of the lesson they worked in their math books. After an hour -which felt like an eternity- the bell finally rang out.

"How did it go, Usagi?" Makoto asked as they walked out on the quad for some air before the start of their next class.

"As usual" Usagi replied dejectedly. She didn't look forward to the scolding that was inevitably waiting for her at home with the next report card.

The brunette looked at her sympathetically. "You just need to study more. Maybe you could get Mamoru-san to tutor you when he visits next time?" Makoto suggested.

"Yeah, maybe..." Usagi replied, trying to sound cheerful. Truth be told she had no idea when she'd be able to see Mamoru. After Chaos had been defeated he'd stayed with her for a few months to make sure earth was safe again and that she was alright after having lost him once more. Those months had been great but Usagi could tell Mamoru's mind often wandered and she knew he was thinking of the offer he'd received to study in America. Though he claimed he was perfectly happy staying in Tokyo with her, Usagi knew him well enough to know that wasn't the whole truth. So she persuaded him to go, assuring him she would be just fine but having him promise to write her every week.

Said and done, Mamoru left. Things had gone well, he had gotten opportunities to further his studies and now he was on his third year overseas. He kept his promise to write and the first year he visited her at least once a month. But now she was lucky if she at least got to see him for holidays. Last she saw him was Christmas and that was 4 months ago. The conversation they had had then still floated around at the back of her mind but she didn't know how to share it with her friends. He still wrote her every other week but it hurt her to not be able to see him and despite knowing they had a set future waiting for them she couldn't help but fear they were growing apart; Or maybe what she was really fearing was that it didn't bother her as much as it should. She still loved him. But for every time that he had to cancel a visit she had to learn to deal with the disappointment and find ways to make his absence easier, like enjoying the life and freedom she had before the time came for her to become the queen she was destined to be, and carry the responsibilities that came with it.

"Usagi are you alright?" Makoto's voice snapped Usagi out of her thoughts; she hadn't realized she'd stopped walking. She smiled and nodded. "Yeah I'm fine. I just miss him."

"Miss who?" The girls turned their heads to where the question had come from and were greeted by their friend Minako. "Usagi misses Mamoru." Makoto explained. Minako gently patted Usagi on the back. "Don't worry Usagi, he'll be back before you know it!" She said cheerfully. "I'll tell you who I miss though, the three lights. School sure was funnier with them around!"

"Oh you just miss Yaten." Makoto teased. "So what if I do?" Minako shrugged, not the slightest bit embarrassed. Usagi giggled. Minako turned to her. "Don't you miss Seiya?" she asked.

"What?" The sudden question caught Usagi off guard. Minako grinned. "You know, Seiya? Jet black hair, pretty blue eyes, sexy smirk... Ring any bells?" Usagi blushed at her friends' choice of words. What was she supposed to say? Truth be told Seiya had crossed her mind, more often than she'd like to admit since he left three years ago. He got on her nerves, was way too flirty at times. But... He made her laugh. He made her less lonely and filled some of the hole Mamoru left behind. Something none of her other friends had managed to do. But if she told her friends that she knew they'd read something into it. Something she wasn't sure she was ready to deal with herself.

"Yeah, I miss him" she answered at last. "I miss all of them. Taiki-kun and Yaten-kun" She added before Minako could make a thing out of it. "But they are back on their own planet with their princess. Probably busy rebuilding what Chaos ruined."

"Yeah, but it's been three years, would it kill them to visit?" Minako pouted.

"I'm sure Haruka-san and Michiru-san would just love that." Makoto said amused. "I think Haruka is still upset since that one time she found Seiya in Michiru-san's dressing room."

Minako snorted. "Well they'd just have to deal with it! Besides I don't know what there was to be upset over. It was obvious since his first day in our school that Seiya only had eyes for one girl and it sure wasn't Michiru-san." She went on, looking pointedly at Usagi.

Usagi blushed and averted her eyes from Minako "I don't know what you're talking about. Seiya and I were ever just friends."

Both the other girls rolled their eyes. "Still clueless huh?" Makoto smiled, somewhat sympathetic.

"Well wherever they are, I hope they're doing OK." Minako said with a sigh.

Makoto put a supportive hand on Minako's shoulder. "I'm sure they're fine" she assured her blondhaired friend. "Don't you think so, Usagi-chan?"

The school bell rang, announcing the start of their next lesson.

"Yeah, I think you're right Mako-chan. They're alright" Usagi turned her head towards the sky.

Aren't you, Seiya?

Thousands of miles away, on another planet outside our solar system. A different sky held the gaze of a man, through the window of a palace. His eyes reflected the light of the moon but they were empty, busy looking inwards.

3 years have passed by since the final battle against Galaxia. Our planet is restored to its old glory, but even with that, I'm not happy... I miss her. Her smile and her warm light, I even miss her shouting at me... I miss Odango.

"Seiya?"

The sound of knocking brought him back to reality, accompanied by Yaten's voice from the other side of the door.

"Seiya is everything OK? You have been in there for a while now."

Seiya sighed and left his spot by the window to let in his friend. "What do you want, Yaten?" he asked.

The silver haired man studied him with concern. "I was just wondering how you're doing. Ever since we came back from earth you've spent almost all your time alone here in the dark."

"That's not true, I've helped out just as much as you guys!" Seiya felt the need to defend himself.

Yaten blinked. "You know that's not what I meant. I'm talking about all the other time. You rarely seek our company and you hardly speak when you do... The princess is worried about you, you know."

"Well, tell her not to worry. I'm fine. I just feel like being alone." Seiya attempted to close the door but Yaten grabbed it.

"Seiya, I'm serious. It's time you forget about her." He said, his tone a little more forceful.

"Yeah? Like I haven't seen the red ribbon in your room."

Yaten's eyes widened. "Have you been going through my...?!" He stopped and calmed down to continue "It's not the same. I'm not shutting myself in. I know my priorities. Our priorities."

"Fine I won't shut myself in." Seiya gave up on trying to close the door and instead he opened it up wide and pushed past Yaten. "I'll just leave."

"Seiya." Yaten called after him, but to Seiya's relief he didn't follow.

Seiya continued on until he reached the eastern balcony. There he went through the glass doors and into the cool night breeze. He leaned against the railing and took a deep breath. The fresh air filled his lungs and cleared his mind. He knew he'd been unfair with Yaten. Neither his friends or queen was to blame for his foul mood. He knew he would have to apologize later.

"Fighter?"

Seiya turned around. "Princess." He bowed his head in respect as Kakyuu walked up beside him.

They stood in silence for a while, just watching the sky.

"You're in that form again." the princess said at last.

"Form?" Seiya blinked and looked down on himself until he realized what she was talking about. "Oh." He'd gotten so used to the form he had worn on earth, he found himself preferring it when their powers weren't needed. "I'm sorry, do you want me to switch?" He offered.

But Kakyuu smiled and shook her head. "No. I just want you to be happy."

"I am happy." Seiya insisted.

"No you're not. You never were a good liar, Fighter." She reached out and took his hand."Your eyes always gave you away."

Seiya sighed. "You're right. I'm not... But I promise I'll get better! I won't take it out on any of you."

"Oh my sweet Fighter." She squeezed his hand gently. "There's only one way it'll get better and you know it."

"What are you talking about?"

"You need to go see her."

Seiya's heart leapt in his chest. "But what about you? What about Kinmoku? How could I possibly lea..."

Kakyuu pressed a finger to his lips. "Kinmoku is fine. Everything is back to normal and we've had peace for some time now. You've been so strong, and brave" She smiled sadly. "But it's time for you to think about your happiness... and as much as it saddens me, I know that's not here."

"Princess..." Seeing her down made him unhappy but it couldn't quite put a damper on the growing warmth in his chest as he was taking in what she was telling him to do. He leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek. "Thank you, princess." Now tears were filling up her eyes, but the smile on her face was genuinely happy.

"Take Healer and Maker with you. They may not admit it out loud, but I know that they miss earth as well."
