Summary: James figures out what to do with the time stone. However, an accident occurs on the first try and he has to work everything out to get him back. (Franchises include Hotel Transylvania and Despicable Me)
One week after the events with Tiberius, James is attempting to be more of a public person. He spent many years at his house with his mother and occasionally Alex, he never truly went out to the town he lived in when he was younger before any Kala nonsense could happen. He wasn't attempting to become the most famous guy in the world, but he was rather just being a good person.
Currently, he was at a store buying alot of things he missed out on since he hasn't been here for years. Movies, books, and Magazines.
He walked up to the cashier. "How much is all of this?" James said
"About $400." The cashier said after checking.
James pulled out a credit card specifically made by him to have infinite amount of money disguised as a regular credit card. "Here you go." James said
After thanking the cashier, he walked outta the store and began to check around the things he bought.
Once he got back to his house, he pulled out all the stuff he bought. He was thinking about what he should start with. Then, his eyes got caught by a blu ray case of the Back To The Future trilogy. His sister Silena loved that movie, but james didn't ever watch it cause he thought it looked stupid.
"Oh whatever, let's see what all the fuzz is about." James said as he opened the Dvd case to go to take the disc out and place it in the 4k player.
3 Back To The Future Movies Later.
'THAT WAS AMAZING' james yelled out in his thoughts. He never thought a movie where a high school kid using a time machine from an old crazy person and goes back in time to when his parents were in high school to be THAT good. Don't get him started on the second one. Or even the third one.
Once James was heading up to his room, he saw a glowing bag on his shelve.
He took it off the shelve to see the infinity stones. After the battle in the city, Cindy gave james the stones, proving that they were a okay. But his eyes were mainly on the time stone. The green aura in it almost put his brown eyes in a trance.
Suddenly, an idea popped into his head.
James ran down to his lab and immediately began to write down blueprints for a possible idea. He was gonna create a time machine with the time stone.
A few hours later, james finished with the blueprints.
Then, james spent the next 2 and a half weeks building the time machine. With the tech he had, he was able to get it done with ease.
After those weeks, he finally finished the time machine. It was a giant dome circle with the top of it emulating a green light, and there was a secure spot where the time stone would be kept in there.
Now, all he needed was a test subject. He wasn't gonna try himself, since if something went wrong, he would have no one else to save him. He had an idea.
He pulled out his phone and contacted Felonius Gru.
After a few rings, he heard Gru on the other line. "Hey gru, say, quick thing? Can you come over to my place? Just wanna test something out." James said
"Alright, what exactly is this thing?" Gru said
"You'll understand it when you see it." James said
"I do not understand this." Gru said once he showed up to james house.
"Its a time machine that's powered by the time stone. Simple. And you're my test dummy." James said
"Why can't anyone else be your test dummy?" Gru asked to James
"Because most of the team aren't that experienced in this type of stuff, and also, I think you're the perfecto dummy." James said in his usual charm.
"Alright. Where do we start?"
"Well first of all, i gotta put this thing in the back of your neck." James said placing a square device on the back of your neck. "It's a thing that will be able to not have parts of your body break apart and end up in different areas." James said before placing a watch on his wrist. "And that's to keep track on where you are." James said.
Gru began to feel nervous. "Now, get on the pad and we'll send you to Yesterday."
"Alright." Gru said fast before slowly walking onto the pad.
As they were, Mavis and Dennis were walking down to james's lab. "Why are we here again?" Dennis said
"Simple. I'm here to ask James to babysit you tonight."
"One."
"But don't you not want him to do that."
"Yes and no. Yes because there's no one else that can do it. And no because we aren't the best ones to go hand in hand."
"Two."
Just then, a green aura began to surround gru. Dennis and mavis walked into the room.
"Gru!" Dennis yelled out in sudden fear before turning into a bat and flying out to him.
"Dennis!" Mavis yelled out.
"What!" James yelled out.
Dennis used his magic to push gru off the pad. James went to hop over the desk, but he accidentally pressed the button to turn on the time machine.
Just then, the green aura vanished and dennis was nowhere to be found.
James immediately went to check the tracking device. Thankfully, he somehow had one. Gru must've dropped it once he fell off.
Just then, a few sparks came from the circuit and the computers shutted off. "No no no no no!" James said.
"What happened to him?" Mavis said to James.
"In a nutshell, Time Machine, Gru, Test Dummy, Your Son, Pushed Gru Off Time Machine, Son Now Possibly Dead, Won't Know Until We Get Computers Fix." James said.
"Well what are we waiting for, let's fix them." Mavis said
"Well okay then. First I gotta see the problem." James said pulling out the door to the circuit. "Hm, must be a simple wire problem. Just gotta figure out which one." James said
"How many are there?" Mavis said
"About a Thousand. Time machines aren't that easy to make. So, be patient, check on Gru for me, and I'll figure everything out as fast as I can." James said and he poked his head and arms into the circuit to check what was wrong.
"Okay, but please hurry!" Mavis said before running to check on Gru
Meanwhile, dennis landed flat on his face on a wooden platform.
He immediately got up to check around the place he was in. He seemed to be at a construction site, the place looked like his homeworld.
As he was looking around, he found a small watch.
"Cool." Dennis said as he grabbed the watch and placed it on his hand.
Dennis continued to check around the place.
"Alright, make sure we have enough rooms. I want all the monsters to come here."
Dennis froze and hid behind a wall. He peeked to see his papa Dracula, and a zombie like construction worker walking down the hotel. He realized where he was, he was around the time when his papa was creating Hotel Transylvania.
'Wait, if that's the case, then where's my-' dennis thought in his head
Then, a vampire appeared on Dracula. Dracula grabbed it and got eye to eye with it. "Mavey what are you doing, you know you're not allowed here."
Then, the bat turned into a younger version of Mavis. "I know, I just wanted to see you."
"Well, I'm glad I saw you right now, but you need to leave. This spot is planned to be a birthday surprise."
"Really? Birthday!" Mavis yelled out.
"Yes, but it's not today, so shoo." Dracula said
Mavis's happy mood immediately vanished. "Okay." She said before turning into a bat and flying away.
"Don't you think that was a little harsh?" The tiny zombie, or something else, said to Dracula.
"Well, maybe it was, but it will all be worth it in the end."
Dennis felt bad for his future mother. She just wanted to spend time with her father, since she didn't have her mother. She needed to get better. He turned into a bat and began to follow her.
Back in present day, James was in the middle of checking the wires. None of the wires he plugged out and back in turned the computer back on. He knew one of them was the problem. It was only a few minutes since he was looking for dennis.
"Wait a minute, what if dennis is alive, but he accidentally causes all of time and space to break?" Gru said
"Oh yeah, i never explained how the time thing works. Well basically, you go back in time, but never forward, and when you come back, the time stone basically reverts the moment you went back to back to it's normal state." James said.
"So like Groundhog Day, the day resets." Mavis said
"Kinda, but instead the moment you travelled to resets from the start. Kinda like a checkpoint in a video game." James said continuing to mess around with the wires.
Dennis turned back into his normal self as he saw his mother sitting by a cliffside, seeming to be crying.
Dennis swallowed saliva and walked over to his mother. "You okay?" Dennis said.
The young Mavis turned to Dennis. "Who are you?" Mavis said.
"My name is...Dennie." Dennis said thinking of a disguise name. "I was wandering through the woods and I saw you. Is everything okay?"
"No. My daddy doesn't wanna spend time with me." Mavis said
"Well what's he doing?" Dennis said
"He's making me something for my birthday."
"Well what does it look like?"
"It looks like he's making a tall house."
"Like a building?"
"Yeah a building." Mavis said. "But he won't say what it is."
"Well, it's a surprise, that's kinda the point of a birthday present."
"But still, I wanna see him cebause, I don't have anyone else to be with." Mavis said
"Well, who knows what he's making, but he's doing it to make you happy. And, i'm sorry for your loss."
"Thank you." Mavis said before hugging Dennis. Dennis gladly took the hug back.
Meanwhile, James was still plugging all the wires in and out. Until, he finally figured out his problem, the wires were just tangled up together.
James went to try something, he ran upstairs and grabbed his book of spells. He didn't know if it still worked, since he didn't have his Kala powers anymore. But, it's better to try it. James swam through the pages to find a page on untangling wires. The book had a lot of weird spells.
The spell worked! All the wires were getting untangled.
He immediately got out to see the computers turning back on. "Back In Business Baby!"
In the past time, dennis and mavis were still hugging when the watch dennis had beeped.
Dennis looked at the watch and it said, 'James'.
Dennis letted go of the hug. "I have to go."
"Ok."
Dennis walked away. "Wait." Mavis said.
Dennis turned to suddenly get a quick kiss on the lips from Mavis. Dennis froze in place. Did his future mother, who at this point is the same age as him, kiss him? Mavis just giggled and turned into a bat and flew away.
Dennis ran away before anything else could happen.
She hid behind a rock and pushed the watch. A hologram of James's face appeared. "Dennis! You're alive, thank the gods, where are you?"
"Um, I am in a time where my mother was the same age as me and say because like cebause." Dennis said.
"Oh great, it worked! Just gotta work on the location." James said.
"Wait, what happened?"
"In a nutshel, I built time machine, you pushed gru, test dummy, off it, you teleported to where you are, hang on, i'm gonna send you back in three, two, one." James said before pushing a button and he hung up.
A few seconds later, dennis appeared.
Mavis flew up to hug dennis, james crawled up to do the same. "Great, you're okay, Don't do that nonsense again." Mavis said to dennis.
"Look mavis, I apologize for sending Dennis through time and space. I just didn't expect that to happen." James said
"It's alright, the important thing is he's okay. Anyway, I came here to ask if you could babysit him?"
"As long as we're not in here, I'll take it as a yes." James said.
James then went to Gru. "Sorry for wasting your time Gru, is there a way I can make it up to you."
"Well, since me and Lucy are going on an across the world mission, I guess i would ask you to watch the girls with Dru for us." Gru said.
"Consider it done." James said. "When is this?"
"After christmas." Gru said.
"Alright, I got time."
And that's the first ever One-Shot for The Team Series.
This is basically a fun idea I had in mind but it's also set up for a future series, called The Spys Who Loved Each Other, where Gru and Lucy go around the world, while Dru and James watch over the girls and wacky hijinks ensue. And yes, the next chapter is the Christmas chapter.
Of course, you can request ideas for One-Shots in this series by either putting it in a review or you can PM me. Review the story if you want to.
Have a great day.
