"A happy family is but an earlier heaven" - George Bernard Shaw Set in the world of my completed story A Strange Situation, these are basically plotless fluffy happy family oneshots that I need to write to cheer myself up during these difficult times. Prompts and requests absolutely welcome!

This is a retelling of Gaskell's North and South, but with a twist. At the beginning of our story, when Margaret is propositioned by Henry Lennox, she feels obligated to agree. (I've used a bit of poetic license with her reasons). Anyway, Margaret marries Lennox and then goes to visit her parents a few months later, as they have moved north. What will happen when she meets John?

After an unexpected encounter in Mr Thornton's study during the dinner party, Margaret finds herself trying to understand her feelings for Mr Thornton. A mid-canon retelling of North and South with more kissing but the same amount angst and misunderstandings. I like to think of it as if N&S was a romance novel.

Murder and mystery lead to mayhem in Milton. Join our favorite characters, John Thornton and Margaret Hale in this alternative telling of Gaskell's classic North and South.

What if Margaret was an event photographer and John owned a concert venue? A modern AU story, set in the not-quite-current day United States. Starts with the beginning and will end after HEA, with some drama along the way.

This story begins just after Margaret's father has died. With no one showing her any sympathy, what will happen when Mr Thornton is the only person to treat her with genuine kindness?

A surprise decision may give Margaret the family she desperately wants in the wake of her parents passing. However, there are still many obstacles to overcome before she can find peace.

A several chapter story of John and Margaret being thrown together by fate and later secretly thanking their lucky stars for it. One small section with an adult intimacy situation. May add more vignettes as inspired. Fairly fluffy.

Both Margaret's Mother and Father have passed away. Her Aunt is still in Italy and her Cousin in Greece. She is left all alone in Milton. How will Thornton rescue her, and will she inadvertantly rescue him in return?

After their chance reunion at the train station, John and Margaret return to Milton. Margaret uses her new wealth to search for a purpose, John struggles to come to terms with his past failings - and they must learn to live with each other. (M version is up on A03) Complete

Unfortunately for Margaret Hale it was a truth universally acknowledged that that a single merchant in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. AKA the Jane Austen-esque regency AU no one asked for.

After the Outwood Train Incident. Before the investigation by Inspector Mason. Margaret is forced to leave for London. People talk and a marriage of convenience would have to take place.

What if Margaret Hale did look back at Mr. Thornton as she was about to leave Milton after the death of her parents? The story continues after Margaret visits the Thorntons to say goodbye and to give Mr. Thornton her father's book. Book and series based.

An alternate imagining of Mrs. Gaskell's story, assuming Margaret had been hurt more seriously on the day of the riot. Intertwines elements of both the book and the BBC series, but focuses less on angst and more on the relationship of John and Margaret. Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, but am only presuming to borrow them for a while.

John and Margaret are very newly married. Whilst they find themselves to be the focus of Milton society, John and Margaret only have eyes for eachother. Much fluff but, you know, M-Rated for a reason!

Margaret receives a letter from Mr Bell that throws her into despair. She is forced make a choice that wasn't meant to be hers, but the consequences are not hers alone to deal with.

There is a word that exposes the very soul of John Thorntons relationship with Margaret Hale. One word which defines their love, their life, and their desperate pursuit of one for the other. One word that ties together each shared moment, and embodies every aspect of a battle not so easily won: Suppression.

Modern AU! John Thornton manages the business front of Thornton Textiles on Milton Street in Chicago. For Christmas, all he wants is to be with his family in New Zealand. Instead, he ends up in NY with his PA for Christmas.

So the title is self-explanatory. The story is about our two favourite people falling in love.
