Trouble is, he's flying backseat to ace pilot Astrid Hofferson. Can love still bloom on the nuclear battlefields of the Atomic Age? Or will Astrid kill him before the H-bombs do?

A dragon nest, two humans and a Night Fury, the discovery of the Queen. When something goes even more wrong, Astrid is left to escape, if she can, and to take up the burden of what she had just been shown... because Hiccup didn't make it out. How events diverge if an accident on that first trip to the nest ends Hiccup, leaving Astrid and Toothless to carry on with life.

Astrid knows communication is important for their group dynamic. Sadly, her methods of communication are a bit ... unorthodox. While she thinks that it is not a problem, it stages problems for Hiccup, and he doesn't like this form of communication. Not one bit. After he snaps, he decides to tell, or shout, to her to stop. Astrid being Astrid, drama ensues.

Astrid glanced down at her baby boy snuggled against her. "I think it's fair to give Daddy some time now, don't you think?" Nuffink shook his weary head with a pout, "No."

Astrid swung over to one side of Stormfly and smacked Snotlout's helmet, "What are you doing Snotlout? They're going to win now!" There's no Viking with a stronger drive to survive, adapt, and thrive than Astrid Hofferson, and being blind? As long as she can wield her double-sided axe, compete in dragon racing, and have a relationship with Hiccup, no big deal.
