Nathaniel and Faquarl don't exactly like one another.

In a small hospital room in the New London Hospital there lies a young man, practically a boy, who hasn't woken up in several months.

Nathaniel survived the final battle, Kitty stops by to visit him before going to work. Everyone is adjusting to their new physical limitations as well as their changed opinions on each other. Character relationships in this are intentionally ambiguous, fair warning.

"What's the matter with you? Did you loose a fight to your office supplies while I was gone? Had a dangerous run in with the copy machine?" Nathaniel fiddled and squirmed in his seat, not meeting my eye. "It's nothing, I just- it's nothing." Set about a year post Ptolemy's Gate but disregarding the demon uprising/final battle. Could be read as friendship or pre slash

[DISCONTINUED] Nat has consented to work on another horrible case. Obviously, without my help, he'd be hopeless, so here I am, though I'd rather watch him suffer from afar. -Love, Bartimaeus.

Arthur Underwood never locked Nathaniel in a room full of spirits. Without that scaring experience, Nathaniel's curiosity about djinn grows unhindered by fear. Unsatisfied with the lack of information he seeks out a more direct source. Bartimaeus, for his part, is not exactly prepared to be confronted with a child with too many questions and not enough books...again.

When Nathaniel dies, instead of being dismissed, Bartimaeus goes to the afterlife with him. When he sees someone he loves, he isn't as happy as you might think. Takes place after The Gate of Ptolemy. Ptolemy/Bartimaeus, also a bit of Nathaniel/Kitty.

It's strange how the world seems to change when you view it from the flip-side. Though, I suppose I should have expected it, after enduring so many of Bartimaeus's rants...
