Before their adventures, Yooka and Laylee stayed at a city called Crittertown while living in an orphanage, Foster Home for Critters. They were cared for by the owner; Ms. Candy Bun-Bun, made a childhood bully in Crash "Crunch Time" Crocodile and made rivals in their counterparts; Vya-Lynn. But how did they met, and how did they find Shipwreck Creek?

Dr. Quack sends a mercenary to spy on Yooka and Laylee, and find out where they hid the powerful book that V.I.L.E. wishes to get their hands on. But upon meeting the odd couple, the spy realizes that Yooka may be getting under her skin.

Yooka and Laylee accept Trowzer's quest for a lost gemstone and go on their way. Remembering directions is not easy. And things quickly drop downhill.
