Volunteers - including Lexa - were sent to the ground to discover if humans could return home. But what Lexa found shook her beliefs to the core and set her on a path of life and death, love and hate.

So this is basically my take on what happens when Clarke holds the knife to Lexa's throat in ep. 3x03 and how the story develops from there. I'm sorry but there's no better way to summarize it.
