Alan and Fermat have a long road ahead of them as they brave surgery to repair injuries obtained from their daring escape from the Wharton fire. Follow the boys as they work towards recovery in hopes that they can one day soon leave the hospital behind and can continue life again without the constant reminder of what once was. Truths are revealed as these boys rise from the ashes.

Sometimes they had to wonder if the world missed the right way, if ever it was possible to slip from the path. For it was certainly true for the track: none of them were going to allow him the focus he needed. So it would have to be crash. Yes, they'd go with crash for now. Yes, it was easily a far sight more than simply that, but he wasn't going to think on it anymore.

Formerly Home and Away- I wasn't keen on that title. Jeff is home at last. But does college mean Alan has to leave, just when he's getting to know his father? Tracy fluff. Follows on from The Long Reach.
