HollowHeartStar— I'm glad you like my story! Also, it seems I made Emberpool's scales a bit obvious. I'll try to make stuff a bit less obvious later on! :) Also, my pfp was just a random firestar photo on google.

This is my first fan fiction. Enjoy!

Eclipse studied her scroll, trying hard to make sense of the jumble of words she had written the previous night, underneath all the notes she made in preparation for tomorrow. Grass... Ash... Storm... Part of the scroll was burnt, and wet. Eclipse sighed. Whenever she got these cryptic prophecies, her scales would heat up and burn whatever she was holding, which was usually a scroll, and then go ice cold and freeze it, often resulting in burnt, soggy, nonsense scrolls. She grabbed a fresh scroll, copied her notes down, and wrote the random words on her special scroll she used to keep track of, and figure out, her prophecies. She linked those words to something she had written a week before; the grass will grow back. She tucked her scroll back into her leather pouch, as well as a purple flower and a few pretty green feathers.

She looked outside. The sun hadn't risen yet, but she knew she wouldn't be able to fall back to sleep, so she left her room and, grabbing a mango for breakfast, went outside. Her home was only a simple shack, made of twigs and leaves, but it was quite cozy. She gazed of into the rainforest as she ate her mango then flew off to the hidden clearing where she and her brother had been hidden for a year after they hatched. When she got there, she glanced around to make sure nobody was watching and lifted a large leaf from the side of a large boulder, revealing a hole just big enough for a small dragon. She scrambled down the hole into a room large enough for two small dragons. She and her brother, Ashspike, had discovered that the rock was hollow, so they dug a hole in the soft dirt that led into the rock and dug out a room for both of them to hide in. Only a year before, they had discovered a hollow tree not far away, struck by lightning, and had been digging a tunnel towards it so they could hide food and other stuff inside it.

Eclipse brushed the dirt off the small tree root she used as a ledge to hold scrolls. She opened her pouch and placed her scrolls on the ledge, then pulled out some feathers and flowers and lay them on the large piece of bark they used as a desk. She grabbed a piece of string from the desk and started to turn the feathers and flowers into bracelets, necklaces, and earrings.

About an hour later, as the sun slowly rose, Ashspike woke up. He stretched his large black wings and peered under his hammock bed. He laughed.

"Shadow, why are you down there again?" He asked his black sloth.

"Brrulple! Squeerg hrrrrmmp brrrulple!" Replied the sloth. Ashspike smiled as he stretched out a talon for the sloth to climb onto. With the sloth on his back, he checked his sister room. Eclipse wasn't there, which meant she had gotten up early. Again. Ashspike sighed. If she keeps waking up this early, she won't have enough energy for Jade Mountain. Ashspike and his sister were going to Jade Mountain Academy tomorrow. Today would be their last day in the rainforest for a while. He guessed she was at the clearing and grabbed a banana for himself and a handful of blueberries for his sloth, then made his way to Eclipse.
