The seven Supreme Beings of the New World
Chapter two: The denizens created by the supreme ones
The seven members of the YGGDRASILL guild, Ainz Oowl Gown, who had been transported to some unknown world, stood before a gathering of (now alive) NPCs that their long gone guild mates had created, although some of the denizens were created by some of the very players that were present. Momonga, a skeletal overlord and leader of Ainz Oowl Gown, as well as his six friends that came with him, all of whom together form the World Heritage Lords, a sub-group of the forty-one members of the guild, were all taken a bit aback by the vow of fidelity that those who gathered before the seven of them had just pledged to them.
"We fear that we may be lacking in what it takes to fully honor and appease you, lords," Albedo remarked as she, along with the other denizens, still knelt before the seven supreme beings who stood before them, "But we will still strive to serve you all to our fullest. We vow this to you." The others that were created by supreme beings all spoke in agreement with Albedo's declaration just now.
Momonga looked to his fellow guild mates and friends, the World Heritage Lords. To his left, the overlord saw Kurama, Anubis and Roberto, all of whom nodded in the affirmative to their guild leader. Similarly, when Momonga turned to his right, he saw Thor, Perseus and Pierre all nod in a likewise manner. With his fellows all in agreement, Momonga turned to face all of the gathered denizens of Nazarick.
Momonga held his arms open and out at his sides, as if greeting someone who was running up to hug him. "Excellent, guardians and other denizens of the Great Tomb! I am certain that I speak for my fellow supreme ones when I say that we have no doubt you'll more than meet what we all expect out of you!" The denizens of Nazarick were all happy that they were acknowledged by the seven supreme beings before them, including the leader of the supreme ones. However, they had to wait on further pledging themselves when Momonga spoke up once again.
"Now then," the overlord began, "At present time, the Great tomb of Nazarick has been caught up in a bit of a situation. I have already had Sebas survey the surroundings outside of the tomb." Momonga, as well as the WHLs, all turned to face where Sebas, the head butler of Nazarick, was standing nearby, ready to give his report to his exalted lords.
…
"Grasslands?" The other supreme beings shared the surprise that Momonga expressed when he and they were filled in by Sebas as to what was going on outside.
Sebas nodded once in confirmation. "Yes, my lord. It would seem that the swamps that had once surrounded the Great Tomb have been done away with and replaced with grasslands. There were no signs of any buildings, humans, animals, monsters or anything else along those lines in a one kilometer radius."
Momonga nodded once in acknowledgement to the butler, as did the other six supreme beings. "Good work, Sebas," the overlord remarked, pleased that Sebas not only did his duty, but that he had brought him and the others up to date on what was going on.
Momonga wasn't the only supreme being who was happy to be updated, as that new info would allow for less risky actions. "It would seem that our Great Tomb has been transported to some sort of unknown land," Thor said as he turned to face his fellows. They all nodded in agreement, knowing that they were in a very peculiar situation.
Gesturing to Albedo and Demiurge, Momonga said, "I have a task for you two, Albedo and Demiurge." The two specified denizens perked up to attention right away when the leader of the supreme ones called to them. "Work on strengthening both our information sharing system and our defenses." Having been given an order by one of the supreme ones, Albedo and Demiurge accepted it without question, actually honored that they were being given a task by so exalted a personage as Momonga, t he leader of the forty-one.
"We should also take care to try and cover ourselves from those who would spy upon us," Roberto remarked. The chupacabra gunslinger turned his attention to the dark elf twins, focusing on Mare in particular. "Mare, are there any ways to conceal the Great Tomb?"
The male dark elf twin, a bit on the shy side since he was being focused on, looked somewhat down at the ground in the arena, a look of contemplation on his face. "…If we use magic alone, then it would be a bit on the difficult side. However…" Looking up at the seven supreme beings that all stood before him, Mare said, "…I believe that if we can cover the walls surrounding the outside of the Great Tomb with dirt, and then cover that with vegetation, then we should be able to pass for-" Mare would have gone on, but he was cut off when Albedo, radiating a menacing aura of anger, shuddered with restrained fury, catching the attention of some.
"You would smear the glorious walls of the home of the supreme ones with dirt?!" the overseer of the guardians snarled, enraged that someone would even so much as dare suggest so offensive an action.
Perseus held up a hand in a gesture to get Albedo to stop, which she did. "Now Albedo, there is no need to make such unnecessary remarks," the cyclops remarked, eliciting an apology out of Albedo right away.
Nodding once in thanks to Perseus, Momonga turned to face Mare again. "Is it possible to conceal the outside of the tomb with dirt?"
"So long as you permit it, yes," Mare said, "However…"
"The young man has a point," Pierre remarked, "Just one random mound in the middle of nowhere would look out of place." The gargoyle turned his attention to Sebas. "Are there any hills outside of Nazarick?"
The head butler gently shook his head in the negative. "Sadly my lords, there are none. We are surrounded by flatlands as far as the eye can see."
"I see," Momonga said, "But if we were to, say, make dummy hills…"
Sebas considered his lord's idea for a moment before giving a single agreeing nod. "Yes, I do believe we'd blend into such a landscape in that case."
"Sounds like a plan if I've ever heard one," Kurama said, drawing nods of agreement out of his fellow guild members, "And what areas we can't spruce up with this little plan of ours, we can simply cover with illusion magic." Once again, the other members of Ainz Oowl Gown all gave nods of agreement, glad that they had at least one game plan to go with.
Without much else, Momonga and the WHLs gave the denizens of Nazarick the go-ahead to get to work with their tasks, mainly in regards to the info gathering and defense strengthening task that was given to Albedo and Demiurge, as well as the concealment of the outside of the Great Tomb by Mare. With their piece said, Momonga and the other members of the guild took their leave, using their respective Rings of Ainz Oowl Gown to teleport out of the arena.
…
Inside one of the halls inside Nazarick, Momonga and the others all let out sighs, although for some (Momonga who's a skeleton and Thor who is a draugr) they didn't actually sigh. It was a figure of speech to detail how mentally worn out they all were. "Well I'll be," Anubis remarked, "Those guys were hella serious back there."
"Their glorious views of us," Pierre remarked, "It possessed a certain…je ne sais quoi, as it were. I don't exactly have a way to describe it, my fellows."
The others nodded in agreement with Anubis and Pierre, with Momonga being particularly in agreement. "Yeah, I'm beat after that."
Back in the arena of the sixth floor stadium, the denizens proceeded to get up from their kneeling, given that there were no supreme beings in the area thus there was no need for them to be kneeling (at least as far as any of them were concerned). "…To think that the supreme ones would so magnificent," the large, red-skinned fellow in the samurai armor remarked as he and the others got up, "Truly, our lords have surpassed even the highest of what any of us could have expected. It's no wonder that they are supreme ones."
As the others were also getting up, Albedo turned to regard the large red-skinned samurai fellow. "Yes, you are quite right about that, Sasuke," the guardian overseer remarked.
"Umm, I'm sorry, but I am not all that familiar with him," Aura remarked, a mildly confused and apologetic look on her face, "Nor am I familiar with any of the others who were gathered and brought here by the World Heritage Lords."
Demiurge nodded in acknowledgement to the female dark elf twin's predicament. "That would make sense, as those created by the World Heritage Lords tend to be focused on guarding domains assigned to them by the exalted personages who created them." Turning to face those created by the WHLs, Demiurge said, "If you all would be so kind, especially since we are to be working together, please take some time here to introduce yourselves."
The denizens made by the WHLs all nodded in agreement, and the one identified by Albedo as Sasuke took the first shot. "I am Sasuke Sengoku, an oni created by Lord Kurama."
"An oni, you say?" Cocytus remarked, "Those are a demonic sub-race of ogre, if I recall right."
Sasuke nodded in confirmation to the vermin lord, the only one in the area at the moment who was as tall as the oni himself. "I am the loyal samurai retainer of Lord Kurama, serving as guard and, if need be, as a shield to give my life to safeguard his."
Cocytus let out an amused, good-natured laugh. "I have a feeling that you and I will get along very well, Sasuke!" Cocytus remarked, "I look forward to seeing how you will help in the service of the supreme ones!"
"Sasuke isn't the only one here created by Lord Kurama, you know," one of the cat-eared butlers remarked, prompting his twin to stand next to him. All eyes were on the cat-eared butlers as the first one spoke. "Fellow denizens of Nazarick, I am Shinra Neko, and my fellow nekomata who is standing next to me is my twin brother, Senku Neko."
"We serve as staff to attend to the supreme one who created us," Senku went on, "But if need be, Lord Kurama will assign us to Sebas to assist him with whatever tasks the supreme ones give to him." The head butler of the Great Tomb nodded in acknowledgement, glad that he would have some help in whatever tasks that he may be given in the future, should the supreme beings permit him to take along some back up.
The nekomata butler twins were fair skinned, and looked identical save for their hair which, while styled the same, had different colors; Shinra's hair was black on his left half and white on his right, while Senku's was the opposite, black on right and white on left. Their outfits were very much similar in appearance to what Sebas wore, although their clothes seemed to be a bit looser on them. The same applied to the one other butler who stood in the arena of the sixth floor stadium, a tanned-skinned fellow with black hair and a bit of a case of five-o-clock shadow forming around his chin and jawline.
This third butler got the attention of the others in the arena before he spoke. "Similar to Shinra and Senku, I am Ricochet Paco, one of the denizens created by the exalted Lord Roberto. I was made to serve as part of Lord Roberto's attendant staff, but I will be directed by my lord to Sebas if he has the need for backup."
"It warms my heart to know that I may not need to be alone in my endeavors to faithfully serve the supreme beings," Sebas said to Ricochet, Shinra and Senku, "You three have my thanks."
"If I may be so bold as to speak up myself now," one of the two maids with wrappings around various parts of their respective persons, getting everyone to turn to face them. The two girls wore maid outfits that were sleeveless numbers, and the skirt part of the outfits ended at the knees. This allowed for the cloth wrappings that completely covered the legs (aside from the feet which wore shoes that went well with the maid outfits), arms and parts of their necks to be seen.
The first one, who is the one that spoke up, had her hair in a simple ponytail, one that was long enough to reach halfway down her shoulder blades. The second one had straight, shoulder length hair. Both girls wore golden hoop earrings, one in each lobe on each girl, and said earrings gave off an air of belonging to Egyptian royalty. The two maid girls bowed respectfully to their fellow denizens of Nazarick.
"I am Nifera Imhotep," the first maid girl spoke up, "And the girl standing next to me is my younger sister Cleo. We are both mummies created by Lord Anubis to serve as his personal attendant staff. Similar to the nekomata twins and Lord Roberto's doppelganger man servant, my sister and I are to assist Sebas should he have the need for backup." The other maid girl that was standing next to Nifera, identified as Cleo, nodded in agreement with the girl who turns out to be her older sister.
"You two are both mummies, you say?" Demiurge remarked, his interest sounding piqued, "I must say, you look very much alive. I would expect mummies to be withered up, but you both look as alive and well as those pathetic humans."
Nifera let off a mildly amused smirk. "Well my sister and I were created by Lord Anubis, so of course it's reasonable to assume that our lord would want us to look appealing. Besides, we both do have a 'withered' form as you would put it, but it only shows up when we use some of our more high-end skills, such as Siphon Vitality, that we gained when we were created by Lord Anubis." The younger mummy sister nodded in agreement with Nifera.
"Our skills," Cleo said, "All of them, are at the disposal of Lord Anubis and the other supreme beings." The younger mummy sister gave her fellow denizens of the Great Tomb something of a dry look. "I assume that you all feel the same way."
The other denizens of Nazarick all let out cheers of agreement. "Lord Momonga and the other World Heritage Lords stayed behind until the end," Albedo said, "Whereas we were left behind by most of the supreme ones, those seven and those seven alone stayed to rule over us. It would be an insult to the glorious personages that are the seven supreme ones if we did not do our all to serve them, even to our own expirations."
Sebas nodded in agreement. "Well then, I shall be the first to leave. My duty is to stay by Lord Momonga's side. I know not where he has gone, but I should be there with him." The head butler of Nazarick turned his attention to Nifera, Cleo, Shinra, Senku and Ricochet. "I have no doubt that the World Heritage Lords will be discussing matters of great importance to Nazarick with Lord Momonga. That being said, you all ought to come along as well to help me with serving the supreme beings."
The two maids and three butlers all nodded in agreement, and proceeded to leave the arena with the head butler, but before they could leave, Albedo stopped them. "Inform me if anything comes up, everyone." A bit of blushing entered the guardian overseer's expression as she added, "Even more so if Lord Momonga calls for me. I shall rush to his side with all due haste. But if it's to his bedchamber that he calls me, I will be needing-"
"I understand," Sebas replied, a hint of dryness in his tone as he took his leave with the mummy maid sisters, the nekomata butler twins, and Ricochet. The group of six servant staff members then left the arena, leaving the floor guardians and Sasuke.
Speaking of the oni samurai, he noticed that something was off, and when he turned to face the direction that he sensed the feeling from, he saw Shalltear hunched over somewhat. "…Are you feeling ill, Miss Shalltear?" Sasuke asked, a look of mild concern on his face. When Sasuke had spoken up, the others turned to face the true vampire.
Similar to his brother-in-arms, Cocytus was also quick to inquire about Shalltear's well-being. "Are you doing alright?"
Looking up somewhat, Shalltear had a bit of an…excited…blush on her face, with a very satisfied smile on her face. "…Oh, it's nothing to be concerned about. It's just that we were in the presence of so many supreme ones, all of whom were exerting their authority and power. It got me so excited that my underwear underwent a bit of an accident."
"You disgusting bitch," Albedo snarled, grabbing Shalltear's attention. "So speak so crassly about being in the presence of the supreme ones! You must be insane!"
"Any girl who doesn't get wet from that is the insane one!" the true vampire snapped back, ready to go to war against Albedo if need be. Similarly, the guardian overseer felt the same way to the 'lamprey' as she called her that stood before her.
As the two female guardians began to get into a spat, Demiurge gestured for Mare, Cocytus and Sasuke to follow him. "Aura," Demiurge began as he took his leave with the guys, "I'll leave the issue of getting Albedo and Shalltear to calm down. We'll intervene if things get too hectic for you to handle on your own."
Aura was taken aback out of shock, not believing that the guys were leaving her out to dry in such a fashion. Mare, Cocytus and Sasuke were glad to be leaving the women issues to Aura as they followed Demiurge away from the ensuing spat. The two towering warriors, Cocytus and Sasuke, were especially glad to be getting out of there, as Albedo and Shalltear were getting to a level of crazy that neither the vermin lord nor oni samurai were in any mood to deal with.
"This is really nothing to be so worked up about, you know," Cocytus remarked, sounding annoyed with the two girls getting worked up over their little spat.
"To be fair, I would be interested in seeing what comes of it," Demiurge remarked.
The other three guys all regarded him with curious looks, Mare most of all. "What do you mean by that, Demiurge?"
Demiurge, with a bit of consideration, let off a smirk as he thought of how to put what he wanted to say. "Every great ruler has an heir, does he not? The supreme ones here stayed behind until the end, but there is a chance that they may leave as well one day. Therefore, it would be great if they were to leave for us someone that we could pledge our fidelity to in their place, an heir to rule the Great Tomb."
Mare turned back to look where Albedo and Shalltear were facing off against one another, a look of curious wonder on his face. "So…one of them should…give birth to an heir to one of the supreme beings? They both do seem particularly keen on Lord Momonga, so maybe one of them will birth his heir?"
"What manner of blasphemy are you trying to put into Mare's head, Demiurge?" Cocytus demanded.
"But think about this," Demiurge began as he turned to address Cocytus, "Wouldn't it be nice if we could pledge ourselves to an heir of one of the supreme ones? In this case, an heir to Lord Momonga, as Mare suggested due to the interest both Albedo and Shalltear have?"
The vermin lord let out a gust of cold, arctic air from his mouth. "Ooh, pledging ourselves to the line of succession to one of the Supreme Ones? That does sound nice, now that you mention it…"
Demiurge nodded once in a confident, knowing manner before he turned his attention to where the female guardians were all gathered. "And while we're on the subject of creating an heir to one of the supreme beings…" The strategist of the floor guardians called out over to where the girls stood. "Hey, Aura! Are those two done fighting yet?"
Turning around to face the guys, Aura gave a shrug similar to the one that Sasuke had given. "For the most part, yes. Right now, they're arguing over how to structure the harem that will be made for Lord Momonga."
"Indeed," Shalltear remarked, "Now we're just deciding on who the head wife will be."
Albedo nodded in agreement with the true vampire girl. "It would strike any who see it as odd if a person as awesome as Lord Momonga had only one wife. We're just trying to decide who among us will be the head wife is all."
Demiurge nodded a few times, humming in a manner that Albedo and Shalltear both failed to recognize as indifferent. "Whatever you girls say. But Albedo, can you at the very least first give us our orders?" Albedo agreed, telling Shalltear that they will discuss things in detail at a later time, because for the time being, carrying out the will of the supreme ones who stayed behind was of a much greater importance.
Sometime later in one of the dressing rooms, Momonga pulled a random sword from a crate that held numerous such blades. "I'm at max level, so I should be able to swing a sword even though I took on the class of magician," thought the overlord as he held the blade. He raised the weapon up in an attempt to swing it, but before he even got it up high enough, it automatically fell out of his hands, landing on the carpeted floor with a clatter.
"Just as I thought," Momonga considered as the maid that was in the room with him let off a bit of a mildly worried look, "The fact that I can't wield or equip items barred by my class hasn't changed in the slightest." The maid then proceeded to go over and pick the sword up for the supreme one that stood before her.
This maid had fair skin, long black hair in a single ponytail, and an exceptionally beautiful face. She also wore a standard maid uniform, although she gave off an air of seeming to be one of the more important maids. This is because this maid who stood next to Momonga is Narberal Gamma, one of the six combat maids of the Pleiades. She was not wearing her specialized maid uniform at the moment.
As Narbarel picked up the dropped sword, Momonga said, "Great Greater Item." In a flash, the overlord was now wearing a full suite of black armor, complete with a helmet that fully covered his head, and the armor as a whole was adorned with a long red cape that completely covered one of the shoulders. Receiving the sword from Narbarel again, Momonga tried to swing the sword again. This time he was very much successful, creating a great gust of wind with just the one swing. Satisfied with his effort, Momonga turned to look at the mirror in the room.
"…Just as I thought," Momonga thought, "I can use any item made with magic. Similarly, if an item's power allows it, I can work around class restrictions." The overlord let out an internal sigh as he looked on at his armored self in the mirror. "…It's been three days since my friends and I came to this world. I feel no concern with my appearance at all. I know that some outside force calms me down if my emotions get too high. Similarly I don't feel hunger, thirst or the need to sleep. Does the lack of needing to dine and rest come with me being undead? And if so, does the same apply to Thor, who is a draugr?"
Placing the sword back into Narbarel's hands, Momonga spoke aloud. "Narbarel, I'm going to go out for a bit."
The member of the Pleiades nodded in understanding. "Guards have already been prepared ahead of time to accompany you, my lord."
"No," Momonga said, drawing a bit of a surprised look out of Narbarel, "I'm going to be heading out alone."
"Please forgive me for arguing with you, Lord Momonga," Narbarel began, a hint of pleading in her tone, "But if you were to go alone, then we would be unable to perish as your shields if the need for it arises."
Momonga nodded in acknowledgement to Narbarel's concerns, but he still wanted to go alone. "There is something that I wish to do discreetly. I will not allow anyone to accompany me, save for any of my friends, my fellow supreme beings."
"The other supreme ones are busy, checking up on various locations in the Great Tomb to see what all might have changed due to the circumstances that occurred," Narbarel explained, "Lord Thor is checking on the fifth floor with Cocytus, Lord Kurama is inspecting Ashurbanipal with Sasuke, Lord Anubis is looking to see if there are any issues to fix in the Staff Canteen with Cleo and Nifera, Lord Roberto is checking the sixth floor with Aura, Lord Pierre is looking into possible issues on the first to third floors with Shalltear, and finally Lord Perseus is looking for signs of damage in the Spa Resort with Mare."
"I see," Momonga remarked, glad that he's not the only one taking things seriously here. There may be shows of damage to various locals in Nazarick due to the transport to this new world, so it makes sense that the WHLs would so a general inspection. "As I said, I will be going alone." Narbarel nodded in understanding as Momonga used his Ring of Ainz Oowl Gown to teleport out of the room.
Appearing before a staircase to walk up on in the first floor, Momonga sighed internally. "This is so tiring," the overlord remarked to himself. Walking up the stairs, Momonga thought about how he would have to make do with his magic items while wearing the armor, as it inhibited his ability to cast spells. As he reached the top of the stairs, however, Momonga stopped when he saw three large demons; one with a bird like mask, one with long red hair and a pair of bat like wings, and a large hulking muscular brute with mighty demonic wings.
"Jealousy, Avarice and Wrath," Momonga remarked aloud to himself somewhat quietly, "What are three of Demiurge's demon generals doing here on the first floor?" At that point, as if on cue, Demiurge himself stepped out from behind the large demon that Momonga had identified as Wrath. With a brief flash of mild confusion on his face, Demiurge soon realized that he and his generals stood before one of the supreme beings, and it was Momonga no less.
As such, he immediately knelt down before the presence of the overlord, which prompted the three demon generals with him to do the same. "You…came here without any guards, Lord Momonga?" Demiurge remarked, sounding more than a little confused.
Momonga was a bit trapped; he had no clue how Demiurge recognized that it was him, up until he remembered that his fellow supreme beings were not only all occupied in various other locals in Nazarick, but as one of the members of the guild, Momonga had a Ring of Ainz Oowl Gown, which he used to teleport around. Only guild members had those rings, and knowing Demiurge who most likely was already aware of the whereabouts of the WHLs, it was easy to deduce that it was Momonga in the armor.
Worried a bit, Momonga said, "Oh, umm, there is a reason for all of this."
Demiurge thought about it for a moment before he said, "Ah, I see. So that's how it is."
"How what is?" Momonga thought in his head, "I just wanted some fresh air."
"Even so," Demiurge continued to speak, "I cannot allow you or any of the supreme ones to make such trips unaccompanied."
Momonga thought about it, wondered just how to respond. He knew that the NPCs would worry if he, or any of the guild members for that matter, were to leave without them ensuring that they were okay. The other guild members were scattered about Nazarick, inspecting the place due to what had happened, and all of them were accompanied by denizens of the Great Tomb. With all of that in mind, the overlord thought of what to say.
"There was something that I wanted to do alone, Demiurge. …But your words do remind me that you and the others would be beside yourselves with worry if I were going about my business alone. Apologies for not considering the feelings of you and the others."
"There is no need for you to waste your apologies on one so unworthy as me, my lord," Demiurge replied, a little bit flustered that one of the supreme beings was actually apologizing to someone as low-ranked as himself.
Nodding once while giving off a hum, Momonga said, "My fellow supreme ones are currently checking up on various areas of Nazarick to see what all has changed, and all of them are accompanied by guardians or similarly powerful defenders." The overlord pointed to Demiurge. "I will allow you, and only you Demiurge, to accompany me." The arch-devil nodded in thanks before he stood up to go after Momonga, who was already walking towards the exit, to see what the outside looked like.
…
"Whoa."
Looking up at the sky, Momonga was taken aback by the sheer beauty of the night sky in this world that he and his friends had found themselves transported to. Momonga had never seen so clear a night sky before; not even the artificial sky on the sixth floor, the sky being created by Ainz Oowl Gown member Blue Planet, could hold a candle to this true beauty of nature. The overlord gave a passing thought as to how he wished Blue Planet was here to see this.
Momonga reached up, put his hand through a small purple-black swirling portal that appeared there as if by his will. Grabbing something, Momonga pulled out a small necklace that had a wing-shaped charm on it. He put it on, said "Fly!" and, with the wing charm glowing, he took up into the air, flying above the landscape. Demiurge surged a bit until green leathery wings sprouted out of his back, and his head turned into a frog head, before he took off into the sky to follow the leader of the supreme ones.
Speeding through the clouds, Momonga eventually burst through them and floated above all of the clouds. Looking over the landscape, Momonga was touched by the wide, expanding beauty that was the land that Nazarick had been transported to. Momonga truly was amazed with just how far he could see with the light from just the moon and stars. Once again, the overlord found himself wishing that his old friend Blue Planet was here to see things.
"…They glisten like a chest of jewels, these stars that fill the night sky," Momonga remarked, keeping the air he gave off cool but secretly he would shed a tear at the beauty of what he was seeing if his undead physiology would have allowed for it.
"I believe that this world exists so that you and your fellow supreme beings may adorn yourselves with all the riches that it contains, Lord Momonga," Demiurge spoke up from behind him, making Momonga turn to see the transformed arch-devil flying in place behind him. The overlord gave Demiurge a nod of acknowledgement, adding a single hum as he did so.
Momonga turned back to look over the landscape again, wanting to see more of it. "…You may have a point there, Demiurge. Perhaps the World Heritage Lords and I had come to this land to obtain those very riches." Gently, Momonga then shook his skeletal head. "But no, it would be the height of selfishness to hoard such wonders to ourselves. No, I believe that we need to adorn Nazarick, all that we and our fellow supreme beings had made, with it."
Bowing respectfully to Momonga, Demiurge replied, "If it what the supreme ones wish, then we denizens of Nazarick shall do all that we can, use all that we can, to obtain those riches for you."
Momonga let out a mildly amused chuckle. "We have no idea what all is out there as of yet, Demiurge. I'm sure I speak for the World Heritage Lords when I say that we all think that it may be too early to start a quest. But even so…" Momonga turned away once more to look over the landscape, a picture of beauty that will never leave his mind, and for that he was glad. "…Taking over the world right now sounds pretty fun."
A look of surprised shock appeared across Demiurge's face, not that Momonga saw it as he let out an internal sigh. "…Oh, who am I kidding? There's no way that the guys and I could pull something like that off. Even so, are the guys and I really the only ones who came here from YGGDRASILL? My Message skill didn't reach anyone, but that could be due to a difference in distance between us, or maybe the effects changed somewhat. If that's the case, then if we were to spread the name of Ainz Oowl Gown throughout this world…"
The overlord stopped mid-thought as he looked down to where the Great Tomb was located. Even from as far up in the sky as he and Demiurge were, Momonga could see the effects of the magic that Mare was using to cover the outside of the entrance to Nazarick. A mix of Earth Surge, a boosting skill and some magic that were tied heavily to Mare's class. Momonga was very impressed with how the male dark elf twin was going about his work.
"…I believe I shall go check up on Mare," Momonga remarked, "He's doing a very good job at concealing the Great Tomb. Perhaps a reward is in order?"
"Knowing Mare, he'd be flattered just to have one of the supreme ones speak to him," Demiurge replied. Momonga nodded in acknowledgement of the idea, but still felt like something a bit more substantial than being told 'good job' was in order for Mare, though he did not say this out loud for the arch-devil to hear.
Momonga floated back down, accompanied by Demiurge, and landed a few feet from Mare as he made grass grow on the mound of dirt that now covered the outer perimeter of Nazarick. When he sensed someone land nearby, Mare turned to face the appropriate direction. Similar to how it was when Demiurge first spotted him, Momonga was recognized pretty much right away by the male dark elf twin.
"Oh, Lord Momonga!" Mare remarked, stopping what he was doing to greet the supreme being that landed next to him. "Umm…why are you here? I didn't mess up, did I?"
"On the contrary," the overlord began, "You look to be doing a very fine job from what I can see. I am pleased that you are taking your task of concealing Nazarick from prying eyes very seriously, Mare." Suddenly, an idea struck Momonga, one that he found to be a very good one. "…As such, I am here to reward you for your diligent efforts." Pulling out an extra Ring of Ainz Oowl Gown (the guild had made extras, more than enough to resupply each of the forty-one members once each), Momonga moved to hand it to Mare. "This is for you."
The male dark elf twin was surprised beyond all reason by what one of the exalted ones that he and the other denizens of Nazarick served was giving him. "A Ring of Ainz Oowl gown!" Mare exclaimed, even stammering a bit, "I c-can't possibly accept s-such a valuable item! Only the forty-one s-supreme beings can wear t-them!"
"There is a practical reason behind this," Momonga began, thankful that he had thought of something to say in case Mare was too hesitant to accept, "This ring allows for free movement throughout Nazarick, whose traversing can be difficult at times. It will help you a great deal in carrying out your important task by speeding up your traveling between locals. Accept the ring, and serve the other supreme beings and I well!"
Still a bit hesitant but reassured by his lord's explanation, Mare accepted the Ring of Ainz Oowl Gown from Momonga. Mare slipped it onto his left ring finger, and the Ring shrunk a bit to fit his finger better. The male dark elf twin was beside himself with happiness that he had gotten such favor from one of the supreme beings. "T-Thank you, Lord Momonga! I will strive to live up to the faith that you have in me that led you to give me such a treasure!"
Momonga only gave a single nod in acknowledgement, but he could tell that Mare was very much appreciative of the Ring of Ainz Oowl Gown that he just gave him. The overlord could sense more hesitation out of the male dark elf twin, so he prodded him a bit more in that direction. "…Umm, if you don't mind me asking, Lord Momonga, why are you dressed like that in that suit of armor?"
Momonga was about to speak, but he was cut off when Albedo's voice called out, "It's really quite simple, Mare." The overlord, as well as Mare and Demiurge, all turned to see Albedo come walking over to them after having landed near them. "Our lord did not want to distract us while we were working. After all, any of us would immediately stop what we were doing and bow to a supreme one if he were to walk by. Thus, the armor."
It wasn't…quite what Momonga had in mind, but he decided to just roll with it. "Just what I was thinking, Albedo!" The overseer of the guardians would have gone on, but her eyes caught a glint coming off of Mare's ring finger. Right away, Albedo was filled with a vastly jealous fury, one that not only Momonga caught, but it made him take pause. Momonga quickly dismissed Mare to go back to his task of concealing the outside of Nazarick.
The overlord had a pretty good idea that Albedo had seen the Ring that was given to Mare and, worried about Albedo having a freak out (why, oh why did he make those changes to her bio?), he quickly pulled out another Ring of Ainz Oowl Gown and gave it to her, saying that she will be needing one due to her role of guardian overseer. Just to cover his bases, Momonga turned to see Demiurge and told him that he'd prepare a Ring for him soon as well. Thankfully, Demiurge was a lot calmer (like, a lot calmer) than Albedo.
Momonga then teleported away, presumably to within a location somewhere inside of the Great Tomb. After the overlord was gone, Albedo let out an excited, very happy shout towards the night-time heavens, drawing a look out of Demiurge that was exasperated at best.
After a long day of happily serving, after all she was serving the supreme beings, Narbarel was finally returning to her quarters that she shared with the other Pleiades. She was also back to wearing her standard outfit that she wore when working in the Pleiades, which included a white maid's bonnet and a maid uniform of black armor detailed with gold and silver highlights. Most of the rest of Narbarel's outfit remained the same from what she wore while she previously assisted the leader of the supreme ones.
As she walked, she was stopped when she heard a female voice call out to her, one that sounded with a hint of being strong and hardy, hailing from a northern land of snow and cold. Turning on her heels, Narbarel came face to face with another maid. Like Narbarel, this maid was also a combat maid, but not a member of the Pleiades. She also looked, for lack of a better way to put this, like a pallet-swap of Narbarel; her hair was blonde, her eyes were blue compared to the black that Narbarel had, and the gold highlights were replaced with iron highlights that had some detailing work to resemble Nordic runes. Her ears also had something of a point to them, sort of like what Demiurge had for his ears.
"So, word on the grape vine has it that you personally attended Lord Momonga today, Narbarel," the mysterious combat maid remarked. She crossed her arms over her chest as she gave the doppelganger war wizard a slightly amused smirk. "I can only assume that your fellow members of the Pleiades are going to be very much jealous of you."
Narbarel, seeing what this mysterious combat maid was getting at, returned with a slightly amused smirk of her own. "Yes, Momo Fyra. I'm certain that my sisters will complain that I was alone with Lord Momonga so much."
The mysterious combat maid, identified as Momo Fyra, gave off a bit of a confused scowl. "You know, that's something that me and the others in the World Heritage maids will never be able to wrap our heads around, the fact that you Pleiades refer to one another as sisters. I mean, look at us in the World Heritage maids. None of us refer to each other as sisters. But then again all of us were made by different supreme beings."
"The supreme beings who created me and the other Pleiades surely had their reasons," Narbarel replied, "Surely you aren't about to question the will of the supreme ones."
Momo gave a gentle shake of her head. "That is the very last thing that I will ever even allow to cross my mind. I would never do anything that would go against the will of the forty-one who created Nazarick and all the denizens who dwell within. I especially would never act against Lord Thor, the supreme one who created me."
Narbarel gave Momo a dry, mildly annoyed smirk. "I bet you're happy, given that one of the supreme ones who stayed with all of us until the end is the one who just so happen to have created you."
The pointy-eared member of the World Heritage Maids could not help but crack a bit of a smile. "Can you really blame a girl for being happy in that case?" The war wizard couldn't really blame Momo for feeling like she was on top of the world; after all, Narbarel herself felt that she would be the same way if Nishikienrai, the supreme being who created her, did not leave on a galaxy-wide adventure to stamp out opposition to Nazarick, which is what Lord Anibus had claimed is what the supreme beings that left were up to.
Lord Anibus even said something about getting a message that Lord Peroroncino had single-handedly defeated a planet-eater named…Galactus?...by punching him really, really hard in the manhood, a punch that made Galactus blow up into infinite pieces. This not only had the effect of stopping the planet-eater's opposing of Nazarick, but it saved an entire planet in the process. Narbarel recalled vividly how Shalltear, who was created by Lord Peroroncino, cheered ecstatically upon hearing about the feats her creator had accomplished over the course of his space odyssey.
But not all of the supreme ones could leave on space odysseys to spread the will of Ainz Oowl Gown. Lord Momonga, the leader of the supreme ones, as well as the six World Heritage Lords, were selected by the rest to be the ones to stay behind to keep things running (this is something that Lord Anubis also said). Narbarel knew that the work of the supreme ones was important, but a part of her that she knew full well was selfish wished that her creator was one of the ones that had stayed behind as well.
Momo could see that there was a bit on Narbarel's mind, so she decided to let her get going. "Yeah, you got a lot on your plate, so I think that I ought to let you get back to your 'sisters' as you call them," Momo remarked as she turned around to take her leave, "Oh, before I forget, Sebas said that he wanted to try and work something out with your group, my group, the mummy maid sisters, the nekomata butler twins and Ricochet in figuring out how best to serve the seven supreme beings that stayed behind. I think he said that he wants to try for it tomorrow?"
Narbarel nodded in acknowledgement to what her pallet-swap remarked. "My sisters and I will seek out Sebas first thing." Getting confirmation that Narbarel got the message, Momo turned to take her leave, allowing Narbarel to go back to what it was that she was doing. The war wizard was still a bit sad internally that her creator was not one of those who stayed behind. But she then reminded herself that there were still seven supreme beings to serve, and that alone made all of the denizens of Nazarick ecstatic.
END, CHAPTER TWO
Author's notes;
This chapter focuses on retelling the events of the second episode of the series proper's anime, making changes to account for the increased cast, as well as editing things out to save time. I also included the scene at the end with Narbarel and Momo to help kickstart the usage of the World Heritage maids, who are essentially a second set of Pleiades, even going so far as to be pallet-swaps of the six combat maids (like how Momo is a pallet-swap of Narbarel). And hey, it's more cute combat maids; who doesn't like cute combat maids?
The World Heritage maids will play a very big part in/over the course of this AU, although I won't say what all they will be doing exactly. Well anyway, the next chapter will see the parts where Momonga saves Carne Village, as well as adopt a very familiar moniker to see if other members of his guild were likewise trapped in the New World. …But here, Momonga (already) has six of his friends, plus various NPCs that those friends respectively created. Who's to say how things will go here with all of that in mind?
Oh, one last thing, in case any of you were curious; in this story, onis (the demonic ogre sub-race that Sasuke belongs to) look like the player character ogres from Dragon Quest 10. They in no way resemble the CGI monstrosities from the anime series proper.
