"I beg you, my partner who lives somewhere in this universe or another. Oh sacred, beautiful and strong familiar spirit! Here I desire and plead from my heart. Answer to my call!" For a few moments nothing happened and Louise was concerned.

D-Don't tell me I failed the Summon Servant. I'll never be able to live this one down!

And then, as if answering her thoughts, light erupted in front of her. It shone so bright and golden that it engulfed all the students standing around. It came just as fast as it went.

"Wow, for the first time your spell didn't blow up." Someone called out.

"That's probably because it failed!" Another one screamed.

Laughter erupted. Louise however was not paying attention. Instead she looked at the egg she was holding with a confused look. Now that the laughter died down it seemed that others noticed as well.

Kirche managed to break Louise out of her trance.

"Wow, Louise. We are supposed to summon a familiar and not breakfast!"

Before it could go on, Professor Colbert silenced everyone else.

"Quiet Everyone! It seems that the Summon Servant spell succeded, in one way or another..."

"Professor, have you ever heard of someone summoning an egg?" Louise asked. Things were not going the way she wanted and that's saying something.

"Hmm, I'm afraid not. But perhaps this is a sign. After all, mages have a special bond if they summon their familiar as an infant. That could be your case." Colbert concluded. It seemed that his attempt to encourage Louise worked as she began to smile. Though it was strange, seeing as the egg was the size of his head and coloured blue. It was also faintly glowing green. He knew of no creatures' eggs with such features.

"No matter. Please finish your Summon now."

"Right. My name is Louise Francoise Le Blanc De La Vallière. Pentagon that governs the five powers, give this thing your blessing and make it my familiar spirit."

As she finished her chant, she kissed the egg.

"Well, I guess that's tha- "before Colbert could finish, the blue egg began cracking and from the cracks erupted the golden light again. The top broke off. Then the bottom. And the egg was no more.

Everyone got disoriented again.

"Huh? Who might you be?" Louise spoke.

"Zero, are you talking to your egg? Have you finally lost i-"

Louise held something in her hands. It looked like a blob and had one tendril-like "hair" on top. If it wasn't for its two black eyes and cute mouth you could mistake it for a light blue slime.

Colbert approached her again. "Curious. I've never seen an infant like that. Hmm, its body seems slimy but it's actually not one. Oh, and those runes…' indeed, there were runes engraved on its "forehead" right above its eyes.'…I haven't such runes before…"

"W-well, it's my familiar and that's all that matters, is it not?" Louise pondered before Kirche cried out.

"Of course it's important to know what it is! Your familiar tells you your affinity. Besides, didn't you tell me that you would summon something greater than my flame?"

"Q-quiet Kirche! You'll see, when my familiar grows up, it'll be greater, no the GREATESTest than even Tabithas dragon!" Louise retorted hastily.

"That's not even a real word you Zer-"

"That's enough everyone. We are finished here. Please go back to your dorms now. Oh and Louise? If you happen to have any questions regarding your familiar I'll be in the library. Do inform me if anything strange happens, without knowing its species it could certainly do things you wouldn't expect."

And with that Colbert finished the class.

"Squee, squeak" Louise's familiar cried out.

"What is it familiar?"

She heard a stomach grumble.

"Oh, you are hungry, is that it? Of course you are, what with you being born today" Louise murmured but smiled again when it answered with some affirmative squeaks.

'Oh boy. Instead of my familiar being there to assist me, I am the one who needs to assist it. This is absolutely not how I imagined this day to go. Oh well, time to go to the kitchen, there should be something this cute little blob will eat.' And with that, Louise marched on into the kitchen.

Some info: This story will feature the digital world and digimon in the "human" world. It will somewhat follow canon, up until the part with the digital world.

Also: Digimon adventure (2020) sparked some life again, so I decided to honor the OG V-tamer (hence Zeromaru)

I'm not much of a writer so I would appreciate Feedback and inconsistencies in the story (which I hope won't be much).

Also Also: Since I have lots of followed fics that for some reason all stopped updating, I will give my absolute best to update this story until completion. I'm not one for abandoning things half way through.
