Severus woke up a few hours later to Harry bawling. Yawning he stood and walks to Harry's room to check on him.
"Hey there. My little man what's all this noise about? You wet?" He asked as he felt the diaper. Finding it clean he tries offering a bottle.
One year old Harry slapped it from his hand still crying.
He sighed, wrapped Harry into a light blanket, and carried the baby to the living room and sits back down in the armchair.
Slowly he starts to rock trying his best to comfort him, he was half tempted to to use occumenlacy on his son, to find out what he was thinking, but was afraid it would be too traumatic for such a young child.
So Severus continued to rock him back and forth. Severus was determined to be a better father to Harry then, his own father had been to him growing up.
Severus shivered as a memory of his own father briefly entered his mind. Harry took hold of Snape's pinky finger with his own tiny fingers. And slowly the baby starts to calm.
The moment Little Harry's tiny fingers wrapped around his pinky, Severus felt a heavy feeling wash over him. The innocent gesture tugging at his heart string, Snape pulled his chair back and the footrest rose up. He lay Harry against his chest ,still holding him tightly.
Before long both father and son drift off to sleep together.
A sudden knock on the door a few hours later, made Severus jerk awake. Concerned someone would sell him out to Albus, he tries to think of a way to hide the baby.
But then realized he was being ridiculous, nobody would ever think to find Harry with him.
Approaching the door he finds himself face to face with Narcissa and her own young son. Severus nearly slapped himself over the forehead.
"Of course!" He thought to himself. He had agreed to babysit Draco, today weeks ago so that Narcissa and Lucius could go deal with some government stuff at the ministry.
Severus holding young Harry in his arms still sleeping, noticed Narcissa eying the boy.
"Why Severus, how many kids did you agree to babysit today? Surely two kids will be a bit of a handful?" Narcissa questioned.
Severus smiled "Actually I'm not babysitting him, this is actually my son."
Narcissa looked shocked. "I didn't know you had a kid?"
Severus shrugged "well his mother passed away so now, I am raising the child full time."
"Well, I can stay home today if you'd prefer that over taking Draco? I'm sure you have full hands." She says doubtfully.
"What are you talking about, I'm a Hogwarts Teacher..if i can deal with silly Hogwarts kids, i can certainly handle 2 babys. Besides I think it would be nice for my son to make some baby friends." Severus responds.
"Well ok if you're sure."
She placed her son still in his stroller inside the doorway. "I'll be back to fetch him later." She announced before turning on her heels and disappearing on the spot.
Severus used magic to turn Draco's stroller into a double stroller, before placing Harry into the newly conjured seat.
"We have a few errands today, and then I'll take you two to the park." He announced as he pushed the stroller through the door.
He uses a portkey to take them to Saint Mongos hospital. Inside he grins at the mediwitch that greeted them.
"Severus Snape, to what do we owe this visit?" She asked.
"I would like to request a paternity test, for me and this boy, I want documented proof that he is in fact mine." Severus says calmly.
"Of course, right this way." She agreed.
The mediwitch ran her wand over both Severus, and Harry before conjuring paperwork with the results.
"The results as expected, agree without any doubt that you are indeed this child's father."
Severus nods, "as I knew they would, I just wanted documented proof that he was." Snape takes the paperwork and smiles down at the two boys in the stroller.
"Well boys, it's time to go do a little shopping and then I'll take you two to the park."
Severus took the boys to Diagon Alley, and heads right to the baby store. He wanders each aisle, pulling down onesies and baby wizard robes to try on Harry, throwing some into the cart, along with nighties, and pacifiers.
He then proceeds to take Harry through the toy aisle watching Harry for a clue on items that would gauge his attention. So as to not have Draco feel left out he bought Draco a new toy as well.
Finally leaving the store he took the boys to the park and sat both in the sandbox, sit's down on a bench and watched them play.
Harry and Draco play on little toy flying brooms together. Snape smiled at the cute scene, he hoped in his mind to see the boys become friends.
Severus watched Harry falter, and noted that both boys had grown tired.
Severus placed them back in their stroller and then takes them home, and lays them both down in Harry's crib for a nap.
Severus sits in his chair realizing he had no idea what he was actually doing when it came to raising a baby. Should Harry still be on his bottle? He wondered.
The knock on the Door announces Narcissa's return. Swallowing his pride he answers the door letting her in.
"He's in the crib taking a nap." He explains. Then asks.
"Narcissa I have no Clue about parenting a one year old, not sure if i'm doing the right things with him."
Narcissa laughs and pulls a book out of her purse. "Here,this might help you better. I have another copy at home."
Snape clutched the book, "thank you Narcissa I appreciate this."
Narcissa walks into the bedroom and pulls her sleeping son from the crib and goes home.
Finally able to relax Severus lays in his arm chair and pulls open the book reading the table of contents before skipping ahead to what to feed a one year old child.
He came to realize that Harry no longer needed a bottle, or formula but should be eating solid foods. While reading Severus dozed off to sleep.
