They unit finally solved the case. Hailey's theory was correct and they managed to lock away Johnny porter and clear Thomas's name which he was very grateful for and they were now filling out a stack of paperwork revolving the case. Just then a tall dark haired man walked up the stairs to the bullpen, he smiled at the team before going over to the desk were Hailey was sitting typing out the report and kissed her on the the head, the team watched the interaction closely with confusion written all over there faces.
"Hey all good" she looked up and smiled at him as he took a seat at the empty desk in front of her
"Yea it's all taken care of" he replied just as voight came out of his office
"Ah Jay glad you here, now the team is complete". Said voight which cleared things up slightly for the rest of the team. This guy must be Jay Halstead that voight referred to earlier but how does he already know Hailey.
"Look I'm really proud of you guys today you really came together as a team and I think this unit it going to go far, keep up the good work" he said returning to his office.
"So how do you two know each other" Vanessa was the first to bite
Jay smiled and held up his ring finger taking all of them by surprise
"You guys are married" Erin responded
Hailey looked at jay with a smile as he replied "For almost 6 years now" which definitely made the eyes go big.
The team continued to ask question and as Jay responded to them they noticed that Hailey wasn't really a big talker she let Jay do all the talking as she sat back and listened. They realised that hadn't really heard her speak all day, she definitely wasn't shy that's for sure however she didn't really speak a lot.
"Do you guys know voight already then" kevin asked.
Jay looked to Hailey who smiled back and he replied "uh yeah he's my father"
"What" they all said being taken by surprise
"But you have different surnames" Antonio said
"My brother and I took our mothers surname, it was safer for us at the time considering the cases my dad worked when we where younger" he said and they all understood.
"So Hailey how long have you known voight then" Erin asked
"10 years" Hailey spoke with a soft voice
"Wow you must have been really young when you met Jay then" Kim said
"Voight and Myself met Hailey when Hailey and I were applying for the army we were 17" Jay spoke again
"You guys were in the army" said Antonio surprised
"Yeah served in Afghanistan for 5yrs" Jay of course responded whilst Hailey just smiled
The rest of the night was filled with questions, chatting and doing paperwork until 00:15 when they all went there separate ways back to their houses expect for Hailey and Jay who of course left together.
