A Different Approach.
~Dib Membrane's POV~
It has been over a week since Elle and Zim left the city to move to a quieter place. I still can't get over how quiet the city has become since Elle and Zim left. It felt like something was missing.
I spend my afternoon in my room, monitoring for any more paranormal or supernatural activity. But, this gave me some time to think.
Maybe Elle and Zim were right... It's been two years since my rivalry with the alien invader started. I've been trying so hard to prove that Zim is an alien and no-one has believed me for two years. And, now that I think about it, Zim hasn't down anything bad since the Florplus Hole incident.
Maybe I should cut Zim and Elle some slack. Elle did say that she was happy being an Irken. Unless I change my ways, everything will remain the same and nothing will progress.
What am I saying? Zim is evil and he needs to be stopped no matter what! Elle needs to see that I'm right and I need to return her to normal! This is all Zim's idea to remove me from the picture by moving to a new place, so I wouldn't get in the way! Well, I'll show him that you can't get rid of me that easily!
I remembered that Elle said something about going to live in a place called 'Beach City'. So that's where I'm going to go! And, thankfully, I know someone in the Swollen Eyeball Network that lives there; Agent FogBlog.
I swung my chair over to my computer and contacted Agent FogBlog. Agent FogBlog appeared on my computer screen, "Agent FogBlog reporting in. What seems to be the trouble, Agent Mothman?"
I smiled, "Glad you could respond to me so quickly, FogBlog. I have some interesting new that involves your hometown of Beach City."
FogBlog raised a brow, "Does it have something to do with a green-skinned girl?"
My eyes widen in shock, "Yes. How did you know?"
"Because she's here and living with three others like her under the lighthouse." He informed me, "I knew something was going on, so I wrote my theory in my blog. Have you checked it out yet?"
I shook my head, "Sorry, FogBlog. I've been busy checking paranormal and supernatural activity in my city." I lowered my head, "So far, it's been quiet..."
FogBlog rubbed his chin and then smiled at me, "Hey, Mothman? Why don't come live here in Beach City?"
I raised my head and looked at the screen, "What?"
FogBlog nodded, "Yeah. If you want to investigate some real paranormal stuff, Beach City is a magnet for the paranormal and supernatural. Also, we can use an extra pair of hands at my dad's work. What do ya say?"
I rubbed my chin in thought. This might be the break of the ice I've been waiting for. Zim and Elle will never know that I'm coming for them and I will finally prove that aliens exist among us and that they are here to conquer our planet. Zim won't be able to hide and I'll be able to return Elle human once again.
I looked back at the screen, smiled and nodded my head in agreement, "You've got yourself a deal, FogBlog."
FogBlog smiled, "Wonderful. I have your location on satellite. I'll come and pick you up."
I smiled, "I'll meet you outside. Mothman out."
I shut down my computer and smiled with giddiness. At this rate, Elle will see that I'm right and Zim will no longer be able to hide from me or anyone else. But, now that I think about it, why does the name Beach City sound so familiar to me? Have I been there before?
"What do you think you're doing, Dib?" A familiar voice asked.
I yelped in startle and turned my chair to the doorway of my room. Standing in the light of the doorway was my younger sister, Gaz. She was holding a can of soda in her hand and had an angry look on her face.
"Gaz, you almost gave me a heart attack!" I shouted.
"You're going to Beach City, to stop Zim and Elle, aren't you?" She asked me.
I narrowed my eyes at my sister, "How much did you hear from the conversation?"
"Enough." She answered, "You are not going to Beach City and ruin Elle's life." Gaz told me, "Can't you see that Elle made a good choice? She and Zim have had enough of your shenanigans and want to live normal lives."
"That's what they want you to think, Gaz." I argued, "I know that Zim has brainwashed Elle into saying those things and made her move to Beach City with him, so he can get away from me. Well, this will show them that they can't get rid of me that easily."
Gaz growled, "Grrr! You're such an idiot, Dib! Can't you see that Elle is finally happy where she is?" I leaped off my chair and started packing my suitcase. Gaz sighed, "Fine... If that's the case, go ahead and make Elle's life miserable. I'm not taking any part of this."
I waved my hand and continued packing the things I need. Clothes. Pajamas. Toothbrush. Computer. Briefcase. And... Other necessities.
Within 15 minutes, I packed up my suitcase and exit my house. Outside my house was a small, white car with a large sticker of fries on it. The passenger window lowered to reveal a teenager with curly blonde locks and a chubby face behind a pair of glasses.
"Agent Mothman?" The teenager asked in a familiar voice.
"Agent FogBlog?" I recognized.
The teenager nodded and gestured to the back seat, "Hop in."
I smiled and entered the back of the car. Once I closed the door and put my seat-belt on, the driver of the car rode it down the street into the highway. After over an hour drive, we exit the city, drove through the highway and into a small town on a beach, with a cliff and a lighthouse on the other side.
So... This is Beach City... Why does it look so familiar?
The car came to a stop at a house in the center of the city and I exit the car. I couldn't believe how different this city was to my home city. It's smaller, more eco-friendly, and peaceful. Like the world is at peace in this town. This is a place I can grow to like.
Now, to find Zim and Elle and finally end this feud.
I walked down the street and found a small bakery store at the end of the beach. Inside was three people. A tall and slender male with tan skin and ginger hair in a poofy mohawk. A shorter and stout female with blonde hair and lighter skin. And a teenage boy with black hair and wearing a pink shirt and jeans. The tall male and female were wearing matching dark purple shirts with a bitten doughnut designs, so they must work in this establishment. But the young boy... I don't believe I've met him before. And yet, I feel like I have...
"Dib? What on Earth are you doing here?" A voice spoke from behind me.
I yelped in surprise and turned to see who was behind me. It was Elle.
"Elle!" I sighed in relief, "You almost gave me a heart attack."
Elle narrowed her magenta-pink eyes at me, "Dib, why are you here? Shouldn't you be not here?"
"I'm here to bring you back home and bring an end to Zim's tyranny." I answered heroically.
Elle's expression turned sad, "Dib-"
"Now that I know where he is, Zim cannot hide from me any longer!" I grinned.
"Dib-"
"And we can finally go home and return you to normal."
"Dib..."
"And we can be a family again. You and me and Gaz. Defending the world against any-"
"DIB QUINTONUS MEMBRANE, WILL YOU SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME?!" Elle shouted at the top of her lungs.
I instantly closed my mouth, as Elle used my full name. She only does that when she's angry with me. Elle calmed down and looked at me with a sad look.
"Zim... Zim is dead, Dib." She told me in a sad tone, "Zim's voot cruiser was attacked. Gir started malfunctioning when into self-destruct mode. Zim sacrificed his life to save me."
I was taken back from this news. Zim sacrificed his life to save Elle? Who was responsible for this attack? I wanted to take Zim down, not someone else!
Elle's eyes began to well up with tears, burning down her cheeks. I wrapped my arms around my twin sister, "I'm sorry, Elle. I should have listened to you."
Elle sighed and hugged me back. I can't believe I was so stupid. I was so caught up in my own beliefs that I didn't realize what I was doing to my own sister. Of course I knew she was part-Irken. I didn't tell her because I was trying to protect her. But, now I realize Elle can take care of herself and I don't need to hide the truth from her anymore.
"Hey, Elle. Why are you hugging a stranger?" A young voice asked from behind me.
I released the hug and turned to see that the young voice belonged to the teenage boy from the store.
Elle wiped her tears and smiled, "Oh, Steven. I was just looking for you." Then she looked at me, "Dib, this is Steven Universe. His father runs the car-wash just across town." Then she turned to the boy, "Steven, this is Dib. My older twin brother by 2 minutes."
The boy, Steven, smiled and extended his hand to me, "Pleasure to meet you, Dib. It's always nice to make new friends."
I smiled back and shook his hand, "Please, the pleasure is all mine, Steven."
Elle smiled, "Well, I'm glad everyone is getting along." She turned to Steven, "Steven, would you mind helping me get these groceries back to the Temple?"
Steven smiled and picked up a brown bag of food, "Sure. I was on my way to the Temple anyway."
"Can I help too?" I asked, picking up the third bag, "I've never seen the Temple."
Elle nodded, "Of course, Dib. There's some people there who have been dying to meet you."
I smiled and nodded in agreement.
