EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO

I took the first breath I could remember, my lungs feeling like ice. Eyes opening revealed a bright shining half moon in the dark alley.

"Where am I…? Who am I?" The questions continued to buzz in my head. First things first… where… in an alley yes but what country, what prefecture? What is a prefecture? Why did I think of prefecture?

My gut growled. An annoyed sigh blew past my chapped lips. "It doesn't matter… maybe there's something near here?" The ground around me was slick with some sort of mud, covering even the walls of the alley as they reached towards the sky. To be honest this scene scared me for some reason. My heartbeat skyrocketed as I tried to stand, my hand having nearly planted itself in the mud as I righted myself. I jumped back in a panic. "Don't touch the mud!" Instinct screamed at me.

"I'm afraid of mud…" Unused vocal chords made the whisper even rougher than it should've been. "Truly I'm one of the paragons of humanity."

Turning my head revealed two different points in the alley where I could walk out. One way went into the busy streets of people. The other went even further into the quiet dark. Which way was better? To be honest if I'm out here cold and hungry then I probably don't have anyone who cares whether I'm alive or dead, so… talking to other people might be a nogo… WHAT DO I EVEN CALL MYSELF?!

Maybe there's something on myself? Patting down my body I managed to find out that A. I was wearing pants, and B. The male school uniform top was completely shredded and burnt. (Still covered my private parts luckily.) "Well, identifying what school I went to isn't going to happen. If I was a student though then I have to own a bag... right?" Sure enough I found a schoolbag a little bit away from where I woke up.

ID was a bust, completely covered in a thick viscous liquid that wouldn't come off no matter how hard I tried. Spare change of clothes is appreciated, they were still mostly boyish clothing even though I am a girl. I'm fairly certain on that one. I'm not completely broke. What a nice surprise that is, which means I at least have enough for something like a cracker… scratch that… No, I cannot afford a cracker.

"I've gotten myself into quite the situation here… how did this even happen in the first place?"

It took me what felt like an hour to find a sizable box in a trash can. Walking down the alley only gave me a crossroads of more alleyways which then broke off into even more alleys. This went on for several hours until I reached a building under construction, a box held under one arm, bag slung over the other.

"This'll do for tonight." Climbing over the fence and sneaking into the building I kept to the shadows. "They must be just starting the insides by the looks of it." The walls hadn't gotten the final layer of plaster so the supports were still showing.

"Good night…" I opened up the box and crawled into it. "Sleep tight, don't let the mud bite."

Am I hung up on that? Pfft! No, what makes you think that?

Note to self, find a better friggin shelter… My back hurts, neck might have a krik in it… yeah, doin just peachy. Dream I had was weird.

"Where am I?" The young girl hesitantly stepped forward. "A library, no… a study?" The room was a tad bit cluttered, various books piled on surfaces like the floor, or even on the steps leading to a second floor. "It has an old feel to it." The nameless girl inhaled slowly, enjoying the smell of mildew that seemed to carry through the room. "Windows open, what's it look like outside?" Answer was fog. There was so much fog in the air. "Wow, where am I?" Continuing her search she passed by some sort of music player. The shiny brass bloomed outward like a flower as singing echoed through it. A needle gently pressed against a disc of some sort reminded the girl of a record. Next was the main desk on the first floor. "A book?" Indeed there was a book. Unreadable to the girl partially due to her lack of knowledge of the english alphabet."D█n██ic█ of ██ ███er██d." Setting the book down the nameless girl started to walk towards the steps to the next floor of the library section the study room had. "You shouldn't be here…" The voice knocked me out of my wonder and I woke up.

Throughout all of that I was the nameless girl. I still am nameless I guess… whose voice did I hear though? I stopped walking, leaning up against a wall my mind slowly clicked through the events. "Male? I think so, the words though 'you shouldn't be here' make me believe the room is either a private study or it could be a college study which would fit given my age and identity. As he said I shouldn't be there so then the question becomes why. Why was I there? How did I get there?"

PRESENT DAY

Yoru Negai sighed as she walked away from the apartment she was staring at. It had been so long since that fateful night. "Wonder if they fixed the floor?" A sarcastic smirk played upon her lips. "Maybe added some carpets eh?"

She remained quiet for a few seconds before letting out a small snort. "Of course nothing is softer than a fluffy tail but still, the first night had to have been the hardest on my body."

Yoru wandered -something she knew how to do very well- through the streets, her mind focused on the kid she had encountered earlier. "Male uniform, didn't really strike me as masculine though. Quirkless too." With a click of her tongue she dropped a scowl before it was all the way formed. "Would Aimi have done more? Maybe investigate the school, Aldera Middle School might just need to find some new management."

The wanderer was broken from their thoughts as they noticed a crowd of people gathering up ahead.

"Uwabami!" A young man held up a microphone.

"Look over here Uwabami!" A woman this time had a recorder. "Pro-hero Uwabami, is it true that you're on track to figuring out the identity of the villain Tsumetai Kitsune?!" That question grabbed Yoru's attention fast.

"Oho? My my so that's why…" A malicious grin spread across the villain's face, hidden by a scarf she had pulled out from her coat. "Uwabami if you wanted to play with me earlier then you should've given a bit more than just lip service hmm?" Yoru licked her own lips in anticipation, for a minute there, if anyone had looked at her, they would've seen three dots in descending order down her forehead and her eyes switch from red to a warm caramel brown. "I'll think about my problems later Fox-Tale, right now I need to have some fun!"

DAWN OF THE SECOND DAY/ EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO

It seems as though everyone has some sort of power here. I've been wandering the streets in my back up clothes and so far I'm not really impressed by what I'm seeing, I've tried going into bookstores for information but all I'm seeing is hero analysis and gossip rags. It's not even close to what I need right now and it's infuriating.

Doing my best to try and look like I was seriously searching for something I entered a market place. In a way I was seriously looking for something and that was food. It was relatively easy to steal a few apples. Did I feel sorry? No, why? Should I have been? I was hungry.

"Hunger is the enemy…" I took a bite out of one of the apples I had 'appropriated' for myself. "So is anyone else who will hamper my ability to survive." I need an objective, something to pursue while I still can. Possible objectives… my name? That's a possibility but how much danger would I be putting myself in to accomplish it? "Haahhh… never mind that, let's gather some info."

(GIRLS ARE DOING THEIR BEST, PLEASE WAIT, YOUR ROOM WILL BE READY SHORTLY)

The rest of the day was for lack of a better word, boring. Sure I now know what year and month it is plus the new profession that people are beyond interested in but it just feels… wrong. What's with this world that anyone can be a hero? What happened to the trials and tribulations that went to proving yourself to the people? Seriously it makes no sense!

I continued walking, my next ideal place to sleep would have to be located by the ocean. My plan is rather straightforward, stick to the streets and alleys while taking refuge within any sort of abandoned warehouse or area that could protect me from the everchanging elements. Breaking and entering someone else's home would only put me on the radar so no to that. I really don't want to deal with the local law enforcement if I can help it… superpowers against someone who can't even fight back, yeah no.

In all honesty I'm a child even with more intelligence than I should have doesn't make my body look any older. Now this begs a few questions actually, just how did I become so smart? Why don't I remember anything about who I am/was? What was that dream I had last night? So many questions with no answers!

My thoughts were interrupted as I passed by some steps leading down towards a beach. It was a nice looking beach or it would've been if not for the beginnings of trash piles forming near the stairs and the lower parts of the walls. "Dagobah beach, 'A Place to Find the Other Half of Your Heart'. I suppose it once did have that effect for people, now what is it? A dumping ground. A place where dreams of old lay to rest, abandoned by the tide of reality."

"ORAH!" A shout drew my attention.

(MUSIC PLAY! TOUHOU PERFECT CHERRY BLOSSOM: DIAO YE ZONG)*

She was older than me, by quite a large margin I think. Three- maybe four- years difference put her at possibly twelve or thirteen. A large red coat hung off of her body, the sleeves folded over themselves in an attempt to keep them from going over the owner's hands. Blue jeans clung tightly to her waist but hung loosely around her legs while what were once white shoes now scuffed and dirtied to a grey held their stance. Messy bright blonde hair shined in the sunset with dark blue eyes blazing with determination. They were contrasted by dark circles underneath her eyes and greyish teeth.

"Flame Revolt!" The teenager brought her hand up before bringing it back down in a striking motion. I could see in that moment though what she was trying to hide under those long sleeves. Bandages, lots of them were wrapped around her upper arms and her neck. There was even one on the lower left of her cheek.

What snapped me out of my staring was the glint of metal as it passed by the sun. From the girl's hand a sword had popped out. The handle was swathed in flames, going around even her hand as she deftly held it with what could be possibly years of practice. The steps were like a dance, deadly, alive until the end where the beat died off to allow the next dance to form.

"How can something so broken look so beautiful?" I continued to stare until I realized that the girl had noticed me. My cheeks heated up as I took that as a cue to run.

"Eh? Wait! Where are you going?" She shouted after me.

"I can use some of that junk down there… I'll come back tonight to scavenge it out." Completely ignoring the girl I kept running.

(MUSIC STOP)

PRESENT DAY

"Not bad!" Yoru slightly smirked under her mask. "For a 'hero' focused on her image she's actually not that bad!" Sure Yoru wasn't using much of her strength and Uwabami knew it but damn wasn't this fun! This is the part of the job that let her get all her anger out. Sure she could go home to her love to 'aggressively get it out' but the last thing she wanted to do was injure her love.

Uwabami's next punch jarred Yoru out of her thoughts. It met against the villain's upper arm before a hand reached out to snap up the opening. Uwabami looked shocked as she flew over the Tsumetai Kitsune's shoulder and slammed into the ground.

Yoru grinned before looking around. "Heroes will be coming soon. Should vamoose if I know what's good for me." The wind picked up and the onlooking crowd watched in shock as the villain seemed to vanish. Yoru had to keep walking, fighting to not show any sort of mirth on her face as she continued doing what she does best…. Walking.

SIDE STORY 1: YUU ARE?

Izuku Midoriya continued to pick up trash and haul it up the stairs. Sensei had told him this was necessary to train but had neglected to explain just why it was so necessary.

"Maybe I don't have a good reason." Sensei had called from the stairs earlier that morning. "Maybe there's no reason at all. What would be your reason to clean all of this?"

"Why would I do all of this if not for training?" Midoriya's eyebrows scrunched up in thought. "Part of me bets sensei just wanted to use this place for an upcoming anniversary."

Dropping the tire on the ground by the slowly amassing pile of trash Izuku sighed. The past month had been hell on earth thanks to sensei. When she had said that there wouldn't be any punches pulled she had meant it. Every day it felt like Midoriya would tear a muscle or fall over unconscious into a coma but then the sun would rise the next morning and he would feel perfectly fine.

For now it was all mostly physical with a few medical books thrown in. When Midoriya asked why he had to learn more about the human body sensei responded with a sarcastic 'why indeed?' It made sense in a way, sensei had never taught anyone before. She didn't know that a person's interest made the experience easier, or she knew it and she kept Midoriya in the dark for a reason. "Why indeed? What would be your reason?" What reason would Izuku need to help out the community? "No reason at all."

"That's right…" He felt a smile stretch across his face. A hero doesn't need a reason to help someone. "That's what you meant sensei… thank you."

Smile still stretched gratefully wide, he moved to get back to work. The next piece of trash he decided to grab would be high up. Sure sensei had said to have someone to spot him when he went after those pieces but maybe a little bravery wouldn't hurt.

(?'S POV) (QUIRK: P*O*&T*#E S*#E / G& ANT!F* A N)

There he is… I can see the resemblance but it's not truly him. The differences are jarring, personalities, faces, hair, even drive has changed. Her hand tightened into a fist. Yet… why is he so alone?! It hurt more than it should've… but it didn't have any effect on her. It couldn't have any effect because she needed to do this. How long until I realize just how fake I sound?

Currently her target was cleaning a beach. Dagobah if the sign was correct. She didn't remember a beach by that name but it might just be something she had missed.

Anyway, her target had been alone for a while now. Earlier in the day another woman had called out to him. The two had conversed for a time but she hadn't been able to gather what they were saying. Then the woman lightly cuffed the back of the target's head before leaving. Enough time had safely passed now that she was certain the woman wouldn't appear again.

It's time. She walked down the steps as the target climbed up another tall pile of garbage. How would she do this though? Crushing him would be enough right? Maybe she could do one better and just make a simple 'accident' happen. The target was at the top now, carefully pulling out a microwave.

What happened next she didn't quite know.

(MIDORIYA'S POV) (QUIRK : NONE)

He screwed up! The step he took was on a piece of trash that wasn't stable enough to hold his weight! Mouth open in a voiceless scream Midoriya fell. USELESS! His broken heart nearly shattered. She warned you didn't she! Sensei told you what was expected when she wasn't there to supervise and here you go messing it all up! DEKU!

I'm sorry mom! Tears quickly flooded up in Izuku's eyes. The terror palpable to any that could see him. Terror which ended as his fall ended quite abruptly. H-huh?!

Izuku let his gaze wander about, the fox mask looking down at his face was the first thing he zoned in on. A hand gently touched his cheek, the warm touch of his sensei felt reassuring after the fall Izuku had just taken.

"Izuku…" A scratchy sigh could be barely heard from his teacher. "Baka. You are the biggest moron I've ever met and that is considering something!"

"E-eh?" Midoriya's mouth flapped open and closed in embarrassment, his cheeks already colored pink. "S-sensei isn't that a bit unfair."

"Mm? Baka Izu say something?" The amber yellow light coming from the eyes of the mask shine for a second. Uwaah! Scary! "Sensei thinks she heard baka Izu apologize for his bakaness and for not waiting on his beloved sensei before doing the hard stuff."

"Y-yes sensei…" Izuku shrunk in on himself.

"Good. It won't save baka Izu from the work he has to do now though so get to it!" With that he was unceremoniously dropped to the ground. "And you-" she pointed towards the stairs "-... come down here."

Midoriya tilted his head in confusion before a teenage girl stepped into sight. She had longish light brown hair, the tips reaching her shoulders (Midoriya could see two cowlicks poking out from the sides like drooping dog ears… it was adorable). Her face was stoic, with eyes the same color as her hair.

"Kuudere much…?" Sensei muttered to herself. "You came to watch the show or something hmm?"

"MhM." She nodded. "I heard rumors…"

"What kind of rumors?"

"Someone cleaning the beach."

"Really…?" Sensei's right index finger tapped thoughtfully against her right pant leg. "What's your name and quirk kid?"

For a second there was hesitation in the girl's eyes but then it vanished, just as quick as it had come. She walked closer until she stood right in front of sensei, eyes steely and determined she said. "Name, Yuu Uraraka. Quirk, SIZE OR GIGANTIFICATION."

With a bow she continued. "I am in your care."

TADA! Small update is small but it helps give ideas on where I'm pushing forward with this!

So you say... seems like lazy writing to me.

E-EH?! Y-Yoru that's too mean! Sure I'm not good at connecting dots but I think I did pretty good with the side story at least...

Shouldn't you be focused on the actual script you're putting up here? They're all expecting some sort of rhyme or reason that all of this makes sense. Why are you flashing between past me and future me anyway?

Well it has to do with your skills.

Skills...?

Yeah! The one you're showcasing! EVER ON THIS WINDING ROAD:EX. The skill is a metaphorical luck check sure but the basic gist is that every time you go on a walk something will happen to you. It's a coin flip of good and bad.

And? What are my stats?

Oh, yeah. Servant stats. Well here, just for you and the readers.

SERVANT: YORU NEGAI

ALIGNMENT: LAWFUL NEUTRAL

ATTRIBUTE: EARTH

STRENGTH: E+

AGILITY: D-

ENDURANCE: D+

EVER ON THIS WINDING ROAD:EX

...?

Something the matter?

Why is there no ranking on NP?

Because you don't have any discernible one. It's either blank or EX due to its' nature.

Wha-

NO MORE QUESTIONS! BAJEEZUS! Almost let the cat out of the bag to early there! Now two things before I shut the curtains on our little talk. I got two reviews! SQUEE!* Let's have a read!

Cookies: ...I had a sneaking suspicion of who that Kitsune was but I'm not entirely sure now. I should probably wait several more chapters before starting to guess. This seems to be one the more tricky fics (for me at least lol).

My reply: There are a total of three servants who have made their appearance already. Yes, you're correct (in a way) but also not correct (in a way). I really want to get some people to guess what servants I'm gonna throw in here because that's the fun of these kinds of fics. I also noticed that some of these characters don't really show up that often due to... personality traits.

Reviewer:wait izuku is ... it can't be, but being for me wants Altera now

My reply: I don't understand about Midoriya but alright... and Altera is an interesting choice. Now do I be good civ or bad civ?

SERVANTS SO FAR: FOXTAIL, ?, ?

HAVE FUN GUESSING!
