Ch. 2 Pull the Trigger

Karen became enthralled by the rites of motherhood the meta way. When It was time for Rhea's first bath, Karen turned into Bumblebee while Mal washed her with a gentle touch. Karen would buzz and fly about for baby Rhea to play with then became large enough to not get crushed when Rhea almost caught her.

Within three months Rhea began to amaze her parents with abilities of her own. Not only could she mimic her mother's ability to shrink and become larger, but she could change phases of matter and become elastic.

When Rhea wanted to play hide and go seek, she would shrink and leave Karen to become small as a quarter. For that reason, they had a temporary tracker placed on their daughter until she could consciously control her powers.

Raquel

was having her own challenges with Amistad 's powers manifesting. He would create forcefields around himself when he didn't want to be put to bed and spit plasma along with vegetables.

When the women of the Justice League and Young Justice League met up for their girls' brunch reunion, they all looked a shade past beat. Karen had more bags under her eyes than a back alley full of trash cans.

Raquel wore more makeup than the joker with eye shadow to hide the tiredness in her eyes and blush to put life back into her cheeks.

Iris, however, was the first one two speak, seeing that the twins inherited the speed gene and she literally couldn't keep up with them. "It's so nice to see you guys," she said in an exhausted tone with her eyes bloodshot.

"Yeah there 's nothing like girl time," Karen said nodding of and waking up like a bobblehead.

A young childless waitress with a perky smile and her skin full of life, as supposed to the women at the table she saw before her who looked as drained as withered reeds in a field.

"Good morning ladies. My name is Lori and I'll be you're server. May I serve you anything? "Lori said, ignoring that the women looked like they'd been run ragged or simply run over by a bus.

"Rejuvenation please," Karen said forcing a limp smile on her face.

"You ladies look like you could go for a round of Caramel Crazy and Free lattes, hot with triple espresso."

"Thank you and please," Artemis said with a cracked voice.

"I say we should get deep tissue messages at the spa, my treat," Karen said.

Everyone thanked her and nodded their heads, still looking stupefied and half alive.

"Girls, we need to pull the trigger on the school for the kiddies. Parenting solo is sucking the life out of us all," she nodded looking around the table at their faces.

"The men do their part, but these aren't ordinary kids and they need training to hone their powers. The world will need them to," Raquel said with less animation than a zombie.

Lori came back with trays of caramel drizzled lattes on the tray. Before Lori could ask if anyone was ready for their orders, the women were on the drinks like Dracula on a jugular vein. "I take that as you will be needing another round?"

"Yes! I'll have the apple cinnamon French toast with the side of scrambled eggs and bacon," Rocket said with pep in her voice.

"I'll take the chicken and waffles," Karen said while thinking of Mal and their high school dates at the Happy Harbor Diner.

"I'll take the quiche with a side of pancakes," Iris said drinking down the last of her latte.
Lori Looked at Artemis who now had the energy of the Energizer Bunny.

"I'll have the meat lovers' skillet with the two pancakes on the side," Artemis said handing the glass back to Lori.

"Alright ladies, I be back with another round of Caramel Crazy and Frees then have your orders placed." Lori smiled a peppy cheerleader smile as if to say, "You've got this ladies, don't lose your shine!"

Karen took another warm gulp of her latte then said, "What we should do is have a mixer to kick off Young Justice Elementary and I know just thing; a 90s party."

"That sounds great! It'll be like that Halloween party back at Happy Harbor High," Raquel said.

"Oh, that was fun! Remember when Conner and M'gann busted Marvin on his alien invasion prank?" Karen asked.

"Yeah!" Raquel said.

"Happy Harbor High sounds like it was more fun than Metropolis High. We had a lame Turnabout dance at the Metropolis Museum of Founders. The encased wax dummies were so creepy; the eyes followed you whichever way you danced," Iris laughed.

"That sounds very sexy," Artemis joked.

"You're telling me. Try kissing a guy while you have a granny pioneer staring you down like you're a harlot for showing some wrist," Iris laughed a laugh full of life.

"I know just the place for this party," Karen said with a glint in her eyes.

"Do you mean it's actually ready? Wally and I have been counting down the days!" Artemis said with her pupils dilated and a smile on her face like a child in a candy shop.

Dick Grayson, Kaldur, Connor and Zatanna had been overseeing the reconstruction of the Mount Justice Cave. It was were the whole operation began and now that Queen Perdita and Garth were engaged, she was more than happy to fund its reconstruction. Afterall, Wally was able to save her life because of the cave's operations.

The women ate their brunch with hearty appetites and then continued to plan the 90's themed school opening party over deep tissue messages.
