Jaune reached over and turned off his alarm. The sun was beginning to color the sky with its light. Weather outside was overcasted with a blanket of clouds.

Jaune pushed the blankets off and looked out his wall sized window before walking downstairs through his well decorated house of glass structures, creminac items, and well furnished chairs and couches. A few picture frames housing memories of the love of his life, reminding him every day of what he once had. He would take them down, but he didn't want to forget her either, after all, it was her that got him out of the underworld that hides itself innocently in the world he lives in. In the blind spot of the law.

The fresh smell of coffee was always a delight to wake up to. Grabbing a mug and serving himself, the mug he didn't grab had a red circle with a red feather tipped spear going through it.

Going to the bathroom to clean himself up, he instead looks into the drain of the sink, gripping the creminac sides as the memories began to upwell. He tried stopping it, but it played like a ring in his ears.

He remembered having dinner with a beautiful red haired goddess, her laugh made his heart skip a beat, but all he could do was remember how it sounded.

He looked over at the other sink that was littered with feminine hygiene products.

The feeling of kissing her was just a phantom feeling now, something you think about so much you almost feel it, but it's never truly happening. Same thing with the smell of her citrusy scent hair, her perfume seemed to linger in the air at the thought of her before disappearing.

He looked into his own reflection, a forest of blonde bed head hung in his face, and crystal blue eyes looked at him, but they weren't focused on the reflection of the man in the mirror. They were watching it happen all over again, them being on their date, swimming in each other's gazes more than they were the beauty of Vale city during the night. When suddenly the love of his life fell to the ground just out of the blue.

She had to be hospitalized, she was sick, very sick, and she didn't have much time. All he could do is be at her side as he watched her pass, the ringing of the monitor flat lining cut deep into his soul. The doctor in the back could only watch as another patient of his was going home with his life in pieces.

Before Jaune left, he looked at her face one last time, drinking in the beauty he would never be able to see in person again, and planted a warm kiss against her cold forehead. He gave the doctor the 'ok', but Jaune didn't leave her yet, petting her hair like he was petting a newborn. He rested his head on hers, clenching his eyes shut and praying that this was all just a horrible dream, that he would wake up from a nightmare in bed with her by his side, ready to comfort him.

But he couldn't escape the reality that had unfolded itself to him.

He left the hospital room and made way for the exit with a gold tiara in hand.

Jaune cleaned himself up and left the bathroom, dressing in a all black suit'n tie before grabbing the gold tiara that once dawned the head of his purpose in life. Remembering the way her emerald eyes popped and the face she made when he presented her this gift, how stunning it made her look.

Jaune sighed, hanging his head, placing the crown back on his head board and grabbing his scroll, ready to start the day.

The day he would dread for the rest of his life.

*vvvrrOOOOOOMM!*

His mustang roared to life, it was painted white with a gold trim along the whole thing, the grill had a symbol of two yellow arches on each other, and on the side in gold was 'Crocea Mors'.

Jaune looked to the passenger seat, its absence of another presence was off putting. He backed out of the garage, and made his way to his destination.

The sky cried it's tears of sorrow for Juane's loss as the red and gold coffin was lowered into the ground.

Everyone present bore a black umbrella and appearance. They began to depart from the area after giving their condolences, except for Jaune of course, who starred gloomy down into the hole. After some time he turned and left, the muddy ground squishing under his shoes.

A figure in the distance held an umbrella and watched Jaune step by step as he made his way back to his car. That person turned and followed.

The mysterious person got in the way of Jaune and his car, it was a woman, she was petty and just short of his nose. She adored a black dress that hung just below the knees, and revealed a slight bit of bust. Her nails were painted red, just like the hood that hung lazily behind her pinned around her collar by a silver rose emblem.

The sound of rain filled the silence between them.

The woman tilted the umbrella to reveal the smiling face and the sterling silver orbs of Ruby Rose. She'd certainly matured over the years, her body development made sure of that. She even let her hair grow down to her shoulders while keeping the tips dyed red, "Long time no see Juane." her voice sounded more grown up from the last time they spoke.

"Ruby, it's good to see you again." Jaune mustered up a sad smile before the two grasped in a long awaited hug.

"I'm sorry to hear about Pyrrah, Jaune. You've been doing ok?" she broke off and spoke with more sympathy.

Jaune couldn't help but drop the fake smile, "I…" he was looking for the right words, "Why her? I finally had a purpose that I enjoyed, something that made me feel like more than just a tool." he showed no sign of tearing up, but the pain was still evident on his face, "Am I just cursed or something?" he asked mainly himself.

Ruby had never seen Jaune this broken. Before Pyrrha he was just a guy that was the best at what he did, but getting to know him and befriend him. She saw more than just an assassin with a reputation for killing three men at a bar with a pencil. That side of Jaune blossomed when Pyrrah entered his life, his dedication to leaving his old life was a power you didn't dare want to get in the way of.

Now though, now he was just a shell. Hallowed out of emotions that even resembles happiness.

"Life isn't always a fairy tale, I learned that a long time ago. Not every story has a happy ending." Ruby preached. The memory of her mother ran through her brain.

Jaune knew what Ruby was referring to, or more so WHO. That's why she understood his pain the most right now, "What did you do?" he asked for advice.

Ruby closed her eyes and sighed, "Don't blame yourself Jaune. It just hurts more when you do." she looked upward into the crying clouds.

Jaune sighed, "So… what are you really doing here Ruby?" his tone was more serious.

Ruby didn't let his intimidation scare her, instead she tilted her head slightly and smiled innocently, "Can't a girl just catch up with her friends?".

Jaune just stared at her with a blank expression, "You've changed." he stated.

"It's been almost five years, we've all changed, some more than others." she replied. Though she felt like she could do more to try and help ease her old friends' sorrows, "You know you don't have to be alone. If you ever feel like talking…" she popped out her scroll, "Gimme me a call. I got milk and cookies." she showed her pearly whites with a bright smile.

Jaune let out a quiet snort, "I take it back, you haven't changed that much." he joked, earning a cute giggle from the cookie monster woman.

Ruby went in for a hug which Juane accepted, "See ya, Juane." she broke away with a warm wave, her Cape fluttering slightly behind her.

Juane turned and looked to the cemetery with one thought.

Why her?

You like it huh? I think it's pretty good so far, but let me know your thoughts, plz.
