The next day, the war began. Zoro opened his pocketwatch and looked at the picture of the general. It was a picture of the two of them, they were celebrating his 21st birthday.
He was waiting outside for an order as another division was in charge of creating a distraction for them to sneak into the enemy headquarters.
"Alright, this is it. Our job is to get in and destroy the place from the inside out." Robin explained. "The Water Seven squad has our backs on the outside with projectiles if we need help. Let's do our best and go back alive." Robin commanded her team.
She gave the signal to go and Zoro lead them through the sewers to the base.
"Alright everyone split up into the 4 squads. Squads 1 and 2 will shoot the enemy while squads 3 and 4 will advance. Go!" Robin commanded.
Robin didn't actually need a rifle, since she had devil fruit powers. She and Zoro were odd. However, they were still some of the highest ranking soldiers in the military.
Zoro wiped out most of their forces and led the rest of them to follow the others. However they had hidden snipers which began taking down multiple of their soldiers.
"Squad 4 is down-" one soldier tried to report before falling to his death.
"We have to keep going." Robin ordered as the rest of her squad moved forward. The sniper shot Robin in her shoulder and her stomach, causing her to fall over.
"General!" Zoro cried running over to her, unfortunately the sniper nailed his left eye.
Zoro didn't let the pain stop him from taking the sniper down. He finished him off with a Dragon Twister.
"General! Are you alright?!" he asked frantically. Zoro was breathing heavily, he couldn't understand what he was feeling at the moment.
"We have to get out of here." Zoro had no choice but to carry Robin bridal style into a nearby tower.
"Zoro, just leave me. Go help the rest of the battalion." Robin let out hoarsely.
"No! I'm not leaving you behind!" Zoro retorted as he tried to pick her up again, but the pain in his eye and the blood loss was getting to him.
"Save yourself Zoro. Don't die for my sake!" Robin begged. An explosion was heard behind them and Robin knew that the military hadn't planned on using bombs.
"They're bombing their own fortress. You have to leave. Now." Robin begged, tears filling her eyes.
"No! You're coming back home with me!" Zoro responded still attempting to carry her.
The ground shook. More bombs were being thrown at their location.
"Listen to me Zoro. This is the last order I'm going to give you." Robin bit her lip in agony as tears streamed down her face.
Zoro felt tears well up in his one eye, but he didn't bother wiping his face until he heard the order.
"Live. Live freely. Go out and see the world. Go meet new people. Make friends. Laugh and enjoy yourself. You're more than just a military soldier!" Robin cried, the floor shaking.
"One more thing Zoro..." Robin said softly, the ceiling began caving in and debris was flying everywhere.
That was the last thing he remembered before he blacked out.
Zoro awoke to the sound of a machine of some sort. He rose from his bed and realized he was only seeing out of his right eye.
"Zoro, you're awake." It was General Franky.
"Where's the General?!" Zoro asked.
"She's not here at the moment. And I'm afraid you can't see her right now." Franky said calmly.
"She gave me an order for you. She told me that I'm in charge of taking care of you." Franky added.
"I see."
Franky was a much different general than Robin. He was half robot and much bigger. The two of them rode a train to the town where Franky's work was.
"What kind of business do you run?" asked Zoro.
"It's a delivery service. Since the war, people can't contact each other. We send letters and packages to people who are too far from the senders." The robot explained.
"Did the General give you any orders before the war ended?"
"She said to live freely, explore the world, meet new people, laugh and enjoy myself..." Zoro's voice trailed as he finished.
Franky's eyes widened. "I see. Well I can help you with that. Your general told me you're not too familiar with feelings yet, right?"
"Yes. I'm not very emotional."
"Why don't you work at my company? You can meet people there." Franky offered.
"Yes sir." the man bowed.
"Yo! I'm back!" Franky announced.
"Welcome back! Who's this?" A little reindeer walked up to them.
Zoro immediately took a fighting stance. When the reindeer saw this he cried in response.
"Zoro, this is Chopper. He's a doctor. My company also offers special services. But that's limited to Medicine, Music, Cooking and Entertainment." Franky sighed.
"Nami! Everyone get down here please!" Franky bellowed.
"This is Nami, she's in charge of taking orders and writing letters. Sometimes, people who are blind or deaf can't write letters so she writes for them." Franky introduced the orange haired female.
"Sanji's the cook. He's in charge of delivery since he runs the fastest."
"Usopp is in charge of orders and packaging. Chopper is in charge of sorting and addresses. Brook is in charge of..." Franky introduced the rest of the employees.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all." Zoro bowed.
After Sanji cooked them a meal, Zoro went up to his room and went to sleep.
"Franky, what's with him?" Sanji demanded as he began cleaning up the dishes.
The robot sighed as he handed the cook a dirty plate. "His army general might be gone and she told him "I love you."
