Chapter 2: Moving in with Night Raid

"Sensei, your total amazing students have returned." yelled Ieyasu leading the trio as they made their way through a forest that they've been calling home for a little over a year now.

"Ieyasu calm down, if you get too excited now you might fall asleep during the celebration." said Tatsumi "Man I hope sensei prepared a lot of food tonight." thinking of the party they're going to have.

"Look who's getting hyped now."

"Guy calm down." said Sayo as they arrived at their sensei's tent. "Sensei were back." waiting but they didn't get any response. "Sensei?"

Tatsumi raised an eyebrow. "Um guys, do either of you sense any Nen?"

They both use En to try and sense the surrounding area, but found nothing but a few woodland creatures. When they couldn't sense anything they entered the tent to find it empty void of anything except a small letter on the ground. Tatsumi reached down and opened the letter and began to read the letter out loud.

Dear Brats

Congrats for passing the test for becoming a something you guys are no longer brats. Well your still brats but brats that have at least proved to be capable of something. So here take my license, what you think you've earned or something, nope I'm going on vacation and if you want the last part of your training to be complete come find me. So you won't learn my secret technique unless you find which means with you guys I got a long vacation ahead of me. Might go to a beach and find some hotties to have fun with. Anyway good luck, I'm heading out good luck, also if you don't accept my challenge well your chumps, that don't deserve the title you were giving. Have fun, don't die.

The three stood there for a moment after Tatsumi read the letter all feeling the same thing but Ieyasu decided to make himself vocal. "SON OF A BITCH"

That's when Tatsumi decided to wake up. "Man it feels good to finally sleep in a bed." he said as he stretched. "Huh the suns already up, I think it's time to go check up on my new test dummies, I mean trainees."

"So let me get this straight, you guys ran into three kids with Teigu and One of them was able to take you all on at the same time." Said Najenda the commander of Night Raid. She was wearing a black eye patch on her right eye and had a robotic right arm. "How the hell did that happen?" she couldn't believe her elites had their ass handed to them so easily.

The group shifted a little still finding it hard to believe a kid was able to single handle take them on and even though he never gave them a full attack he showed just the vast amount of difference in their strength. "He said that it was some power called Nen. He also said he would be willing to teach us." said Akame

"And why would he do that?"

"Because this country sucks." said Tatsumi entering the room. "I've been in this country less then a week and I've had more people try to kill me or try to fuck over someone else life more then anywhere else I've been. This country is garbage."

'This guy was able to over power my men. He's just a kid and he doesn't give off a warrior vibe.' thought Najenda. "So on that alone you would teach us your power?"

"Hell no. My sensei and friends would have my ass if I taught you guys on that alone, but I am willing to think about it because of your unique nen weapons."

"Nen weapons? You mean the Teigu."

"And we need to have a chat." he said, sitting down on the floor. "Tell me about yourselves. I would like to know who the members of Night Raid are. Hell I barely know any of your names."

Najenda looked at her men and could feel all of her members eyes on her. "Can you give us a moment to talk about this?"

"No." he said while giving them a smile.

Najenda was shocked by the quick answer and was about to argue. "I think we should accept his offer," said Akame cutting in. "He has shown his strength and he is willing to help. Not only that but my gut is telling me we can trust him."

Leone whistled. "Akame's gut has given him the approval. That's rare and I have to agree with it. I want to know what that power was. When I was in my lion form I could sense a strange power. I'm sure if we had that power we could win easily."

Slowly but surely each member began agreeing with them and it became clear if Tatsumia was willing to teach then they wanted to learn. "Okay fine. It seems your power has captivated my men already so what would you like to know."

Tatsumi gave them a look of confusion. "That's not why I said no. I said no because you guys have intruders incoming."

Najenda gave him a blank stare. "What?"

"You guys have invaders coming from the east, I can sense them. There's eight of them I think." he said so calmly that some in the room thought that it might be a joke.

Lubbock's wires began to move and make a few wire noises. "We have intruders, eight of them." After Lubbock said that they all looked at Tatsumi wide eyed.

"Told you." he said as he stood up. "But don't worry, they won't make it far."

"Are you going to handle them?"

Tatsumi thought for a moment. "I guess i should give you guys a demonstration. It won't hurt to show you guys cause even then I doubt you'd figure out how to do it." As he made his way to the door.

Najenda got up and began to follow. "Alright everyone pay attention. We'll see if this kids power is worth anything."

The small group of mercenaries were moving quickly through the forest trying to find the night raid hideout when they made it to a small clearing their group instantly felt a presence. This presence sent such a chill up their spine that it made each and every single one of them to freeze in place.

"Hi there." the group looked up to see Tatsumi standing in a tree. He jumped down in front of the group. "So who are you guys, do you work for this empire."

Even though to them he looked like a normal teenager, he was giving them chills as if they were face to face with death itself. Which they pretty much were. So the idiot in front tried to intimidate him. "Yeah we're the mercenary group hired by the empire. We have killed hundreds of people and I'm not talking about as a group each of us has killed warriors and innocents alike so if you don't want to join them, I suggest you run as fast as you can."

Tatsumi was unfazed by the idiot's speech. "What you say is true. I can tell that blade has killed many. I won't have any regrets taking you guys out." The second the words left Tatsumi's lips the idiot with the speech made a quick dash aiming a downward slash hoping to split Tatsumi in two. Though to Tatsumi this was all going in slow motion. He focuses some Nen to his head to make his head harder then any helmet. The sword shattered on Tatsumi's head. He then focused some nen on his fist and punched a hole through the first idiot. "Yep you guys are nothing."

The members of Night Raid watched the one sided fight in complete awe. None of them could comprehend what was going on, all they knew was that Tatsumi was using an invisible power to take each of them out. Soon there were only three left and Tatsumi barley did anything.

At that time they decided to try and run. "We'll see about that," said Tatsumi as he raised his hand. "Nen Dragon Scales" he said as his arms were coated in dragon scales that detached from his arms and flew past the three remaining mercenaries and reformed into an invisible fence right in front of them. None of them could get out, they tried and struggled to get through. "You guys aren't going anywhere, no lets try this." as he concentrated his nen into the palm of his hand making a small ball.

"He's doing something," said Akame. "There's something in his hand."

"What are you talking about," asked Lubbock, trying to make sense of any of this. "And what's stopping those guys."

Leone starred at the mercenaries for a moment and saw something. "I think there's some sort of fence in front of them."

Some of her friends looked at her for a moment and thought she was crazy. "She's right, there's something there." said Bulat, seeing some sort of solid energy cutting off their escape.

Tatsumi after focusing for a moment through the small ball of nen at the girl mercenary. It hit her in the head, knocking her back and putting her unconscious. "I guess I should have expected that. I'm not an Emitter, so I guess I shouldn't have expected anything better." The other two made a last ditch desperate charge at Tatsumi, who calmly raised his hands again as two swords appeared in his hands out of thin air. These swords were clearly two big to hide up his sleeves. The split second surprise was more than enough of an opening for Tatsumi, with two quick strikes the last two remaining mercenaries' lives ended.

The members of Night Raid could tell this was amazing, none of them had anything to say. Even Sheele could tell with power like that they could win a lot more battles with ease, even Mine had no witty retort or complaint for their new ally. Najenda wanted that power to finally free the country and kill the prime minister and that ice bitch, she clutched her robotic arm at the memory. "Well let's go and talk to him." she said as her and the rest of Night Raid followed her.

As they began to approach Tatsumi he waved to them. "Hey so what did you-" he turned as he heard the sound of running. The girl mercenary that he knocked out got up and was trying to make a run for it. "Oh should have seen that one coming."

"I got her." said Mine pulling out her gun. To only have Tatsumi put a hand up to stop her. "Hey what are you doing?" Tatsumi only smiled as he pointed to the direction in which the girl was running.

The group watched as the girl made it to the bushs and for a moment she thought they were actually going to let her go. This hope faded when Ieyasu came out of the bushs and pointed his weapon at her. "Mind breaker" She felt a wave of nen flow through her before she collapsed to the ground.

"What was that?" asked Sayo coming out of the bushes behind Ieyasu.

"That's my new mental attack," he said with pride. "See I can do it too."

"That's not at all what my Heart Prisoner Arrow does at all."

"It's a mental attack it's the same thing."

"No it's not." Sayo growled in frustration at her idiot friend.

"Hey guys." said Tatsumi with Night Raid in tow. "Glad you found me."

"It wasn't too hard, we just followed your scales." said Ieyasu, earning an elbow from Sayo. "What, oh hey you're the guys from last night so are we friends now or something."

"Something like that." said Najenda "I'm Najenda the leader of Night Raid." as she gestured to the group. "Tatsumi wanted to make a deal with us and teach us this Nen power you all have."

Sayo and Ieyasu looked at her as if she just grew rabbit ears on the top of her head. They slowly turned to Tatsumi who was scratching his head and giving them a guilty grin. Sayo ran to her friend and slammed her fist into his skull. "What the hell were you thinking, you told them about Nen." as she kept hitting him.

"Ow Sayo stop I only told them that nen exists, that's it I haven't told them anything else, I swear." he said trying to calm his friend down. "I haven't told them anything else."

"Why did you tell them anything in the first place?"

"Easy, take a look at their weapons." he said pointing at Night Raid. They looked at each other for a moment a bit hesitate to show their weapons but they got a nod from Najenda. They each held out their weapons for the trio to see.

Ieyasu took a good look at them. "Nen weapons."

"Nen weapons, I thought these were Teigu." said Sheele

"No, what you guys are holding are Nen weapons." said Sayo as she focused her Nen outwardly and into her eyes. "Powerful Nen weapons, powerful enough to alter your own nen."

"Our Nen?" asked Akame as this nen piqued her interest. "We have nen?"

"Everyone has nen but yours is different." said Sayo, taking a good look at each of their auras. "Is this why you told them, because of their odd nen."

"Kind of. The weapons definity got my attention." he said "but not going to lie this country is crap and there are enemies of the state so I saw it as a win win.'' Before their conversation could continue the girl that was knocked out was stirring. "We should probably do something about her. Hey Ieyasu what does that ability do anyway?"

Ieyasu thought for a moment and his friends could already tell this wasn't good. "I have no idea. I kind of forgot I made it in the first place."

"What, how in the hell could you forget one of your abilities."
"Sensei told me it would be a good idea to prepare a mental attack just in case the situation ever happened that one was needed and Sayo was complaining about her ability and I wanted to show I could do a mental attack as well."

"Oh yeah, Sayo what did you do with that rich girl?" asked Tatsumi remembering that Sayo used one of her Arrows on the rich girl.

"Sold her jewelry for some money. Used some of the cash to pay the docs at the clinic to keep her under and watched. The doc said the drugs should keep her under for three days." she said, a little uncomfortable. Something that Tatsumi noticed and made a mental note to talk to her about it.

"Okay well for now we should take her with us and find out what Ieyasu's new ability can do. If Night Raid is okay with it we can put her in one of the spare beds or in the bed I used."

"WHHHAAAAAT." screamed Sayo at Tatsumi scaring him. "You slept in a bed. A real bed and not on the dirt like we have been for the past few weeks. I slept on a bench last night."

"Um well Night Raid has beds and...and they also have hot springs." Said Tatsumi getting Sayo off of his back.

Sayo turned to Najenda with stars in her eyes that practically begged the leader of Night Raid. The whole thing made Najenda loosen up a little and chuckle. "Sure you can borrow the hot springs and we can give each of you a bed, even this girl." she said pointing at the girl on the ground. "But I would like to have that conversation now." Tatsumi nodded as Ieyasu picked up the unconscious girl. They went back to the Night Raid hideout.

They had returned to the Night Raid hideout and put the girl into an empty room that was surrounded by Lubbock's wire. Sayo decided to hold off on the bath until the three of them had gotten finished with their conversation. Najenda just gotten done explaining that Night Raid was a part of the revolutionary army and that they examine each target and research their background so that they make sure their target deserves death.

"So what, you guys are like assassins of justice or something?" said Ieyasu who was half paying attention.

Some of the members of Night Raid openly laughed at Ieyasu's remark. "Hey Ieyasu was it," said Leone "No matter how you dress up. What were doing is murder."

"There's no way there's any justice in that." Sheele agreed

"That's not true." said Tatsumi. "You're not killing for simple blood shed, I will not deny that everyone in this room has killed people before. We all have stepped on the battlefield before prepared to lose our lives and to take lives. You all have stepped on to the battlefield to bring justice to those who have passed and to bring down the ones who've done so much damage. In this world there are so many reasons for someone to kill another and I would say a majority of the reasons aren't good reasons but after hearing your stories I think you guys have come the closest to justice. You make sure that those who have hurt others gets what's coming to them, you have simply chosen to become evil to slay the greater evil. I would say that's justice."

Everyone had to take a moment to ponder Tatsumi's words. Some of them wanted to say something but they could tell that the three have also shedded blood before so they weren't delusional, it was just another way of thinking.

Sayo smiled at the group and clapped her hands, getting their attention. "Philosophy aside, I agree with Tatsumi to teach you guys Nen, if you allow us to take a look at you nen weapons. It will also give us a chance to see if we can find any clues to our sensei's whereabouts."

"Your sensei? Are you looking for someone?" asked Bulat

"Yeah our sensei," said Ieyasu "The last clue we got was that he came down this way. It's kind of like a bullshit game of hide and seek. He's been leaving us clues to find him but it keeps leading us all over the place."

"I can ask our information network to keep and eye out for him, our network spans the whole country, if he's here we can find him." said Najenda "but first I would like to know where we should start with our deal. Would you like to look at our Teigu first or train us."

"Oh we will begin training right now." he said with a smile.

"Huh" most of night raid response was surprise.

"Wait right here right now." said Mine "Should we put workout gear on or something.

"That's not necessary for this first part. All of you have had your natural nen altered because of your weapons so it stands to reason we can most likely get through the first few steps fairly quickly. So any volunteers?"

"I'll go first." said Akame as she stepped forward.

"Okay put down your sword and turn your back towards me and you're going to feel something a little weird here in a second." Akame turned her back to him as he placed his hand on her back. Tatsumi channeled his nen through her opening her nen nodes. Akame could feel an energy fill her body as white energy began to flow out of her body. It was clear enough for everyone in the room to see.

Akame moved a little looking at the aura around her body. "What is this?"

"That's Nen, your life energy. Usually it takes a bit longer to bring enough of it out but I think using a nen weapon long enough has brought most of it out. This method of unlocking your nen would usually take a bit longer and in some cases push you to death if you let out your aura too much for the first time." he said while examining the smoke like substance. "So who's next. One by one each of them had gotten there nen unlocked. When each of them had their aura unlocked, tatsumi had them stand in a line. "Okay your first task I want you to do and try to do for the rest of the day and in whatever task you're trying to do is keep your aura from leaking out." he demonstrated by focusing the aura around him by keeping it surrounding him causing it to change from a smoky looking to something more solid. "This is called Ten. It's one of the four basics of nen."

It took a moment of them to focus but eventually all of them got Ten down. Though when they did they were surprised by the feeling of the Nen covering their body. "Man this feels weird." said Lubbock "Kind of like some sort of soup."

"Soup" Said Mine "How in the world does this feel like soup?"

"I wouldn't say soup but definitely like a thick warm liquid." said Leone with a teasing grin.

Bulat laughed while the others looked at her in a bit of disgust. "I was going to say Milky but I guess that works." he said "Hey boss, what does it feel like to you?" they all looked at the boss who was staring at her robot arm. She was slowly turning it, moving each joint and finger one by one. "Boss?"

"I can feel it." she exclaimed, catching everyone by surprise. "I can feel my robotic arm like I could with my real arm and no this is definitely not phantom pain. Are we doing this right, is this another power of nen?"

The three hunters didn't respond as they were too busy looking at the Nen of the Night Raid. "How in the hell are you doing that, you guys already have Ten down." said Ieyasu in shock. "And what the hell is with your Nen, it's shimmering, how is it shimmering?"

All of Night Raid looked over the aura covering their bodies and even though they had control over their new power and it was solid but on the surface each of their Nen were shimmering slightly. Tatsumi stood silently while watching the other. Sayo decided to take a closer look at them, after examining them she then asked if she could see one of there Teigu.

"Sure." said Sheele pointing to the wall where her giant pair of scissors were. "You can borrow my Extase. Though i don't think you'll be able to use them."

Sayo walked towards the giant blades and put her hand on them before quickly pulling her hand back. "What the.." she said as she looked at her hand.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine it's just," she said as she put her hand on the blade again. "I've never felt anything like this before. My Nen, it's being powered and drained at the same time, what the hell is this?"

"It's most likely the weapons Nen conditions." said Tatsumi "Each of their Teigu works if it's being wielded by someone who is compatible with them. When it does it forcibly acclimates the users Nen to work with it. It's why they can already use Ten so quickly. These weapons have been running on their Nen and subtly been pushing their Nen out. Though it isn't complete, the shimmering shows that they have the Nen but they don't know how to use it yet."

"So our Teigu really are Nen weapons." said Bulat

Mine began to grin as she thought she was getting the idea. "So cause we have been using Teigu, we're super strong. Meaning learning this Nen stuff will be a piece of cake."

"I don't think so," said Tatsumi "Akame would you mind picking up your sword for a moment."

Akame gave a little nod before picking up her sword, she slowly drew the blade out of its sheath but as she did she began to feel woozy and light headed. Tatsumi quickly caught her before she hit the ground. "What happened." as the other went to her side to make sure she was okay.

"I figured as much. If the weapons force the Nen out then using it at the same time might cause some sort of side effect."

"Wait you mean we can't learn Nen?"

Tatsumi went silent for a moment to think as everyone looked to him sense he was the weapon expert. "Well I have an idea, let's see if this works Nen Dragon scales: Sonar wave." As he raised his arms several scales flew off of his arms and began to vibrate as they did; ripples began to fill the air around them. "This is my Nen ability. Dragon scale. I use my Nen to mimic a very rare dragon's scales. One that works very well with Nen, and by vibrating them like this I can use them like echolocation to find things in my surroundings. In this case I'm looking to see which of your weapons I'm compatible with."

As the ripples reached the Teigu, they too began to vibrate but not at the same rhythm as the scales. The closest one was Bulat's Incusio. "May I?" Tatsumi asked which Bulat quickly nodded, he couldn't hide that he wanted to see more. Tatsumi picked up the blade and inspected it for a moment. "Okay let's see what you can do." as Tatsumi activated the blade a giant set of armor appeared behind him. It glowed for a moment before breaking apart and surrounding Tatsumi causing fire to erupt around him. As the smoke and fire cleared what stood before them wasn't the set of armor that Bulat would wear. This armor looked more dragon-like and it looked like it was made up of Tatsumi's scales.

They all could help but marvel at the new and clearly improved Incusio armor. "Hey big guy could you do that before?" asked Sayo

Bulat slowly shook his head. "No this is…" he couldn't finish as he was at a loss for words along with everyone else. They all watched as Tatsumi moved around a little testing out the armor before he quickly dispelled the armor. "How did you do that."

Tatsumi handed Bulat the blade. "Because I know Nen. These weapons are designed to cut corners. As you all saw everyone who uses Nen has there own ability. These weapons are designed to give people with no knowledge or Nen, powers and abilities to fight. If you know how to use Nen and control it, it can become an extension of your own Nen."

"So these Teigu are like the weapons that you made for us." said Ieyasu. "They boost our abilities."

"Sort of these can only be used by certain people that meet some sort of prerequisite. My weapons can technically be used by anybody. I just made them with you guys in mind so they just work a lot better for you guys then they do for other people." explained Tatsumi.

"So wait, why did Akame almost collapsed when she tried to use Nen with her weapon?" asked Lubbock.

"I'd say it was because your Teigu pushed your Nen out, it doesn't help with your control over it. It may help you learn the basics but it doesn't help with the complicated stuff. You're gonna need to learn that stuff before you're able to combine your Nen with your Teigu."

"What, oh come on." complained Mine

"So how many more steps are there?" asked Leone

"Yes, and what else will we be able to do?" asked Akame quietly but excitedly in her own way.

"How difficult will it be?" Asked Lubbock

"I hope I can help." asked Sheele hoping this will be something that she will be good at.

"Hold up all of you." said Najenda "I want to learn as much as the rest of you, especially if it can help with my arm but we are still Night Raid and we still have work to do."

"We can help with that." siad Tatsumi. "If we are fighting scum like that family from last night then we will be more than happy to help.

"Oh yeah I have no problems with kicking some ass." said Ieyasu

"Besides we're already teaching you guys so might as well help out." said Sayo "Besides we kind of need your help to figure out what to do with the two girls we dragged into this mess."

"Oh yeah that's right, the mercenary. I kind of forgot about her." said Leone

"I guess we should discuss what to do about them, the sooner the better." said Najenda

Before anyone could throw ideas out, a mighty growled rang out through the room, somewhat scaring the hunters as they turned to the origin of the sound to discover it was coming from Akame. "Akame what was that?"

"Hungry" said the girl.

"Oh yeah we missed lunch didn't we." said Lubbock as the rest of them realized they were hungry.

"I guess we should begin dinner." said Najenda. "We can discuss what to do next as we eat."

"Okay what's on the menu?" asked Ieyasu

"River Tuna." said Akame

"Um Akame we don't have any." said Lubbock

"River Tuna." she repeated

"Well it looks like we are having Tuna." said Najenda. "Someone go help Akame."

Tatsumi volunteered to go help out Akame. The two quickly left and just as quickly came back with a lot of Tuna to cook for dinner. There they began to discuss what to do with the prisoners and how best it would be to train in Nen, and the three gave the others ideas and tips on ways to use Nen. It was safe to say the others were eager to train. The three also bore witness to Akame's appetite, which left them wondering where she was able to put all that food.
