*Fast forward 6 months*
As the two suns set in the distance and the multiple moons gradually became more visible, a lone hooded figure watched the birds fly north. She took a long sip from her canteen and sighed. After the war 6 months ago, when she had died, and then been revived, it would be an understatement to say a lot had changed.
Rey felt for the holster around her waist, and grabbed the familiar object it held. Fingering the button, she eventually pressed it, hearing the familiar phseww as it lit up. Closing her eyes, she remembered the first, and last time she had ever kissed a boy. She missed him a lot. Why, why, did he have to be the one to save her?
The unanswered questions whirled around her head, like a fly trapped inside a closed room. She longed for the instinctive connection. Anything. Anything. Anything for him to speak again. But as had been the new normal for the past 6 months, there was nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada.
Rey yearned to hear his deep, sexy voice, feel his lips on hers, just anything to prove he wasn't dead.
She knew she missed everything, not just Ben. BB-8, Finn, Poe, Rose, Chewie, the base, everything. But she couldn't go back. Not anymore. And not just because she purposely crashed her spacecraft and watched it burn, though that was part of the problem. What on earth would her friends think? How could they bear being with her, when she had abandoned them all, just for her personal feelings?
"I'm turning into fricken recluse Luke Skywalker!" she thought angrily, as she kicked a rock. "And I thought he was an absolute jerk, so what would my friends think?"
She wasn't going back. At first she thought maybe, after a couple of weeks she might consider it. Those weeks turned into months, then the idea just was scrapped completely.
"No one would find her here." Rey reassured herself. Hopefully they had just all forgotten her, and just moved on with their lives. But there was a nagging feeling that they never would, that kept on tugging at her.
Rey just pushed it back, deep into the back of her brain, and continued to eat.
