A/N: Surprise! So didn't think there was going to be a follow up to this one-shot I did, wow, like 8 years ago, however, inspiration hit and I decided to extend this one shot and give y'all the chance to see their love story unfold. Along with an extended story also comes with a new plot summary which I'll update shortly after this chapter is posted. This was really exciting to write and gave me some motivation for my other story "When you Love Someone" which I highly suggest you go read. Don't forget to let me know what you think and Review!

8 years earlier…..
Walking the campus grounds, I felt the spring breeze hitting my face, as I tried to not let the annoyance show on my face. The breeze was flapping the campus map dangerously out of my grip and thanks to a wrong turn I was now late to my 8 am lecture and I didn't even get my coffee yet. A terrific day so far.
Being a transfer student was hard but transferring to a small college where everyone knows everyone is even harder. I felt like the shiny new toy everyone wanted to play with but once the excitement wore off, I was left to my own devices. It's been two weeks into the new semester and today was the first day of classes. I just hope the professor was understandable and didn't make a big deal out of my tardiness.
Finally finding Rico Hall, I entered the auditorium as quietly as I could and took a seat in the back as the lecture went on. I'm just happy I didn't miss much of the class.
"Hey" Startled by the whisper I turned to my seatmate who was a petite girl with a small smile on her face.
"Uh, yes?"
"I'm sorry but do you have a spare pen? My laptop died and I don't have one?" She asked sheepishly as I smiled back and gave her my blue pen.
"No worries" I replied handing it to her as she smiled gratefully and turned back around. A full two hours later and the class was finally done. As I was putting away my materials, I felt a tap on my shoulder to see the same girl smiling down at me.
"Thank you so much, I really appreciated it, I'm Alice." She smiled as she held out her hand.
"Bella" I smiled
"Bella, your new right? I don't think I've seen you before"
"Yeah, I just transferred from Florida State," I said a bit uncomfortably as I zipped up my bag.
"Oh, that's cool, well hey, if you're not busy would you want to go have brunch and go compare notes? I have a feeling this class is going to be a real doozy" She asked, staring back to the class with a worried expression
"Yeah, sure, I haven't had breakfast yet, so food sounds amazing right now" I chuckled as I followed her to the lunch hall.
"So, what did you think of Professor Cullen?" She asked as I poked at my eggs.
"He seems very knowledgeable, but I can already tell he's going to be tough. I mean it's supposed to be syllabus week and we already have a paper due." I groaned
"Ugh, I know, but at least he has late office hours. I don't know how I'll survive his class, but you seem to have it handled. Did you take bio already?"
"I took a few courses back in Florida, but I was still undecided until I came here," I explained, looking around the cafeteria as students slowly filed in.
"Not a fan of crowds huh?" She asked and I snapped my attention back to her and blushed. "Yeah, I get it, I'm not a huge fan of a lot of people too. I get really bad social anxiety even though I'm an extrovert" She said laughing before she spotted a girl she knew and waved her down.
"Oh, Jane! Over here!" She was waving as another petite girl walked over, her hair in a high ponytail, wearing an overly large sweater and leggings.
"Bella, this is my cousin, Jane. Jane, this is Bella from my Biology class." She introduced us as Jane sat down and put her head immediately in her arms.
"Ugh, good luck, I had that class last semester and Professor Cullen was a hard ass. Of course, that may be why he's the best, I'm taking Bio 2 with him this semester." She smirked at me as I gave a small one in return.
"Please don't mind me, the mornings are not my friend and I have class in an hour." She grumpily said while sipping from her thermos.
"Yeah, without coffee I can't function" I laughed taking a sip from my mug.
"Oh, then you and I are going to get along fine. I assume you're a bio major?" She asked nodding towards my textbooks.
"Yeah, I decided to pursue it to see how I like it. Although I might change it, I don't want to be a doctor." I said and at her raised eyebrow and Alice's inquisitive look I explained "I actually want to be a psychiatrist"
"Oh cool, a head doctor. See how the brain and body work no?" Jane asked as I nodded
"Exactly, I wanted to see how the brain works and maybe do some research on how the brain works with different mental health illnesses"
"Cool! I never really thought of it that way, the mind being my study buddy for the rest of the semester. I want to go into medicine and this way we can help each other?" Alice asked excitedly and I nodded my head in agreement. She seemed like a nice girl if not easily excited, but I found quickly that was just part of her charm.
"Awesome! Also, Jane since you already took his class…" Alice looked at her expectantly and she just rolled her eyes and gave a chuckle.
"Yeah I can help you, I think I still have my old notes somewhere too or you can ask my brother."
"Yeah, that's right, is he still in bio or did he change his major?" Alice asked
"He ended up changing his major; bio wasn't doing it for him and now he's declared computer science, although I give him a month before he changes it again"
"Yeah, he does do that. Jane's brother always ends up changing his major every semester to something different, it's become a running joke between us." Alice said turning to me
"Yep, but I just hope he decides soon. He's going to be a junior next semester." Jane said into her thermos. "Anyways, I better get going, but I'll see you later. Nice to meet you Bella" She said before hopping off the bench.
"She seems nice" I commented
"Oh yeah, she's a real doll, super nice but blunt. I need to introduce you to my friend Rose when their together shit always goes down I swear. I think we're going to be good friends Bella, I know it" She gave me a big smile and I smiled in return. "So, are you living on campus are you commuting?"
"I live on campus, but I'm a late check-in so I'll be assigned my room later tonight. Right now, all my stuff is being held in student services" I admitted with a hint of annoyance
"No way, really? I can help with that" She said cheerfully as I turned to her, skeptic
"really?"
"yeah, I have a friend who works there. I think he may still be on shift if you want to check it out. If he is, I know he'll help you, do you know what building you're going to be living in?"
"Um, yeah, I'll be Reinhold I was told"
"No way! I live there! Oh, shit I wonder if you're the missing roommate? Pretty much all the rooms are filled except ours, we're waiting on one more girl" She said as she started jumping in her seat.
"Now we have to check it out! Do you have any more classes today?"
"Uh, not until 5 which is why I wanted to do a late check-in, plus I didn't know who my roommates were and didn't want to move in the morning just in case" I explained
"Oh, don't worry! Even if you aren't I can help, I like getting to know people and this way you can probably move in sooner but, only if you want too, I don't want to pressure you" She backtracked and seemed nervous she offended me.
Smiling I said quietly "It's not a problem, in fact, I appreciate you helping, yeah we can go plus it wouldn't hurt to meet some of the student services people"
"Great! If you're done, we can head over now" She clapped her hands and taking the dirty dishes we started the trek towards the office. Alice's bubbly personality and her ease with conversation doing me a favor as I walked and listened to her talk. I could tell we were going to be good friends, a good balance already forming. She can talk and I can listen, something I am all to pleased with.
Seeing the big white building, Alice opened the door and yelled "Emmett, you here?"
"Geez, Alice you don't have to yell" Came a voice from the back of the counter as big, linebacker looking man came around, with a large smile and the cutest dimples I have ever seen.
"Sorry, I'm just excited, I think I may have met our missing roommate," She said excitedly as dimples turned his smile to me.
"I guess so, I assume your Isabella Swan?" He asked
"Yeah, how did you know?" I quirked
Barking a laugh he went to the computer and said, "We rarely get late check-in's and you're the only one on the list." He explained
"Welp, Alice, your right again. So, Isabella Swan, meet one of your roommates, Alice Michelle Brandon." He smirked
"Oh, I knew it! I have a sixth sense for this kind of stuff" She said looking immensely proud of herself.
"Sure, okay, well you're officially checked in Isabella or do you have a nickname?" He asked
"Bella is fine, I don't usually go by my full name"
"Bella it is then. Welcome to Reinhold. I'm Emmett" He reached out to shake my hand and mine was engulfed in his giant hand.
"Cool, so if you want you can move in now if you want, no doubt Pixie here will help" He smirked at her as she glared
"Shut up Emmett, that nickname won't stick" she huffed as he winked at me and I couldn't help but chuckle at their antics.
"Yeah if you don't mind. I don't have a lot of stuff, just a few boxes and things like that." I said
"Yeah, Emmett do you mind helping too, that way it can get done faster and I can show Bella the room?" She asked
"Sure, it's not a problem. Right this way ladies" he opened part of the counter and we went on back where I saw the familiar brown boxes sitting.
"I think we can do this in one trip, Bella do you mind if we put them in my jeep. Reinhold is a bit of a walk from here?" He asked
"Yeah, I don't mind, I packed light and I figured I can get anything else from the store or secondhand shops."
"Oh no worries, our dorm is sweet, I don't think you'll need much if you do, I can recommend some shops, or we can go shopping some time." She excitedly asked
"Oh no, Bella, shopping with this girl is an extreme sport, dare to go at your risk" Emmett piped up as we moved the last remaining boxes into his car as Alice smacked his arm lightly.
"Oh, shut up, if I may remind you, it was you who asked me for my help in shopping for your girlfriend."
"Yeah, yeah, and I'll never forget it either, or before you say it, thank you for Rosie's gift she liked it" He drawled as she smiled before getting in the backseat.
"You can have shotgun Bella, that way you can see the way," She said
Climbing into the huge jeep I smiled and laughed at Emmett's crude humor and Alice's commentary all the way to the dorms. Making the trip quick all the boxes were out and stacked neatly in front of a brown door as Alice, bubbly takes out her key and unlocks the door.
The room was spacious with a living room in the center and a small kitchen to the side, Alice explaining two hallways on either side held the bedrooms. Alice took us to the right and showed me my room.
It was surprisingly roomy with a window facing the side of the school, a standard twin bed, nightstand and desk on the far wall and plenty of opportunities to make the room my own as Alice had said.
Smiling and walking around the room I slowly grew more comfortable with space and smiled at Alice and Emmett at the door.
"This is awesome. Look at all the space!" I beamed as they both laughed
"I know right, the school recently made a lot of changes regarding student living and thank God cause freshman year was hell," Alice said, dramatically draping herself on the couch as Emmett moved the rest of the boxes inside.
"Well, ladies this is where I leave you. Bella, you're in good hands. A group of us are having dinner tonight actually, Bella your more than welcome to come after class" Emmett invited and I shyly nodded my head.
"Sweet, well I'll see you both later" Walking out the door he closed the door as I sat down opposite Alice on the couch taking a better look around.
"This is really nice Alice and thank you, for all your help today. Honestly, everyone so far has been so nice. It's a nice change in recent weeks" I admitted as Alice nodded, understanding on her face.
"Oh yeah, I mean I've been there. During my freshman year, I transferred mid-semester and it was not fun. It took me forever to make friends and feel like I fit in here. I'll tell you sometime, but it's not a happy story though" She said as her eyes looked to the wall behind me as a hunted expression crossed her face.
"Are you okay?" I asked, concerned reaching hand out to her.
'Yeah, sorry about that, flashbacks. Anyways, let's not focus on that, do you want help unpacking or oh!" She exclaimed looking at her watch. "I'm sorry I have class in a few minutes," She said apologetically as I waved her off.
"Don't worry, honestly, you've been a great help," I said sincerely as she grabbed her bag. "Well, hey I'll text you when I'm out and we can meet for dinner." She offered taking out her phone as we exchanged numbers. "perfect! Text me when your out and I can meet you."
"yeah, for sure, have a good class Alice" I waved as she quickly made her way out of the room giving me one last wave before closing the door.
So, I guess I have dinner plans; I wonder who else I'll meet this time?
A/N: Ah first (or should I say second?) chapter done! This story, I plan on being lighter and 'fluffier' than what I do but of course it is under hurt/comfort and this will show why Alec and Bella reacted so strongly in the one-shot, but first! Some fun and light heartiness before we get into the serious stuff.
Updates will happen once a week starting this Wednesday!
*Also, to answer the question as to why I removed the lemon from the original, Fan Fiction at the time was removing stories that had X rated content and I didn't want my hard work taken down. If you want to read the original version, I might reupload it as a separate story that way if it does get flagged, some version of it will still exist. Tell me what you think and please Review, Review, Review!
