"4th avenue and Cherry Street - Central Library stop, please use the back door exiting the bus" a female voice sounded on the crowded bus.
"This is our stop." Annabeth said, pulling me toward the open door. She consulted the map that was grabbed from the train station. "The library is just up ahead."
It was mid-winter break and though I had suggested visiting Camp, Annabeth insisted on visiting some 'cool' buildings. Whatever. If it made Annabeth happy I was definitely good with going. As we neared the tall glass building you had to admit it looked pretty cool. I slid my hand into my girlfriend's and looked down at her to see her face in a slightly disappointed expression. "What is it?" I asked her.
"It's not as interesting as other the other buildings were."
We were following this list that one of Annabeth's friends at school had given her of the top 20 buildings to see. "Yeah," I said, leaning down to whisper in her ear "this is nothing compared to Olympus." thinking of the palace she had designed. She punched me lightly and strode ahead of me across the street toward the library.
We entered and my eyes quickly took in our surroundings. We hadn't been attacked by anything yet but you could never be too cautious. The only people who stood out were the nametag-wearing librarians. Strangely dressed people with horned rimmed glasses and sweater vests talking and scanning the crowd's faces nervously. Annabeth looked up and saw me looking around.
"Maybe it's a weird dress code thing the west side has." she said, pulling out the blueprints from her pocket.
I laughed and suggested we get a bite to eat at the indoor cafe. I got us both coffees and we sat down to discuss our plan. "So there are 12 floors counting the basement, but we only have access to the middle nine. I guess we could try to get into the others." I glanced up at her from the blueprints and saw her looking away.
"Oh gods." she sighed, looking away and putting her head in her hands "don't look now." I looked anyways. Where she had been looking a moment before there was a man walking our way.
"Heroes! yes. Perfect!" He smiled widely. "I need a job done!"
