Daughters of Rivendell

Chapter 1 - Evil rises
It was a cold morning in Rivendell. Kaedra was walking in the gardens, her favorite place in Rivendell. She was just thinking about her fiancé Legolas. When she first met him , she thought that he will be spoiled prince. She was wrong. He was very kind to her and they quickly became friends. But these past few years she was starting to feel differently. Kaedra knew that she was in love but she didn´t know how to say it to him. Her sister however instantly knew they Kaedra´s feelings changed. As Kaedra was strolling through the gardens something or someone jumped from the bushes. Kaedra went for her dagger but when she looked at her attacker she saw her sister Kaya. ,,Well good morning to you too sister. Never thought that you would try to welcome me with a pointy end." Kaya said as she chuckled at Kaedra´s surprised face. Kaedra frowned at Kaya at started speaking. ,,You scared me. How can you think normal elf would react ?" Kaya just smiled and shook her head. ,,Kaedra you were lost in thought, weren´t you ?" Kaedra´s face became red and Kaya laughed. ,,Oh I see how it is. You are thinking about your husband to be. I knew you had feelings for him." Kaedra offered her a smile and nodded. Kaedra thought that hers and Legolas´ story is like a fairytale. ,,Yes I´m thinking about him. But how can I not? He is so kind and..." Before she could continue Kaya stopped her. ,,I didn´t ask for details. You can keep them to yourself." Kaya winked at went to the training grounds.
Day went calmly by and as the sun was setting a lonely rider was riding towards Rivendell. He had a pointy hat and grey clothes. He had staff in one hand and in the other reins. It was Gandalf the grey also known as Mithrandir. Guards recognized him and allowed him to enter. Elrond was informed of his arrival and went to speak with him. ,,It was as I feared my lord Elrond. Ring of power was found. Bilbo Baggins found it 60 years ago in the Misty mountains." Elrond nodded and Gandalf continued. ,,I told his nephew Frodo Baggins to meet me at Prancing Pony after I will go speak with Saruman. However he will have his friend at his side I cannot help but ask for one of your guards as extra protection." Elrond thought carefully who would he choose. One of the best fighters was Lindir´s daughter Kaya. She had skills with both sword and bow. Elrond smiled at Gandalf and said. ,,I know one that could go on this task. Do you remember Lindir´s daughter Kaya ?" Gandalf nodded and said. ,,Yes she was always wild spirit. She will protected both of them." ,,Then it´s decided I will send Lindir to inform his daughter of this task. " They smiled and Gandalf went back to his horse. His way would brought him to Isengard, where he would discover a treason.
Kaya was shooting an arrow from her bow on the training grounds, her favorite place. She was never that lady her father or sister wanted her to be. She often wondered what her mother Edea would thought about her choice of being a fighter instead of a lady. She was often envious of her sister´s perfection. Kaedra could do anything. Sing. Check. Drawing. Check. Playing instrument. Check. Etiquette. Check. There was only one thing Kaedra was very good at. Fighting. Kaya was expert in fighting. Sure Kaedra could defend herself she needed to but she didn´t like it. As Kaya was shooting another arrow her father came from the stairs that leaded to the training grounds. ,,Kaya, training again are we ?" Lindir asked his daughter. ,,Yes ada, you never know when you will need it." Kaya smiled at her father. She could see that he was hesitating . ,,What is it ada?" Lindir looked at her and started talking about her task. ,,Gandalf came here few hours back and told us that ring of power was found." Kaya´s eyes widened as she remembered stories about it and what the ring could do if Sauron would get his hands on it. Lindir continued. ,,Your task is to protect a hobbit that carries to ring. He is set on a journey to Bree where he is to meet Gandalf in the Prancing Pony. However he fears that enemy knows who has the ring and asked for the hobbit´s protection. Lord Elrond chose you as you are one of the Rivendell´s best fighters." Kaya´s eyes sparkled with joy that she was chosen on such important task. Lindir saw this and quickly schooled her. ,,My daughter this is very important and is no laughing matter. You must not fail." Kaya smiled and nodded. ,,Yes ada I will try not to fail you and lord Elrond." Lindir hugged his daughter and said. ,,You must ride as quickly as you can, we do not know where the enemy is. And the hobbit will need your sword." Kaya nodded and headed to her room to get changed to her travelling gear.
It was evening at Kaya was ready to head out. Her father, her sister along with Arwen her best friend and lord Elrond himself came to bid her farewell. Guards held Kaya´s horse by the reins as she went to hug her sister. ,,Be safe Kaya and don´t you dare to come back with a wound." Kaedra said as they were hugging. Kaya smiled and said. ,,Me ? Never." Then she went to hug her father. ,, Be safe my daughter." Lindir says as he hugs his younger daughter. She responds with. ,,Always ada." She then goes to hug Arwen. ,,If you need me just yell." Arwen says as she hugs one of her best friends. Kaya smirks and whispers to Arwen. ,,Shouldn´t you tell that to Aragorn ?" Arwen blushes and hits Kaya playfully on her shoulder. Kaya then bows to lord Elrond. ,,May your journey be safe Kaya." Lord Elrond says as he watches her mount her horse. ,,Thank you my lord, I will not fail." Kaya then smiles and waves at the group one last time before she heads into the direction of Bree-land.
A/N: Ada means father in elvish. Next time we will meet our favorite hobbits.
