Blazekit steadily blinked open his eyes, lifting his head as his jaws parted in a long yawn. Giving his legs a long stretch, he slowly stood up and looked around the nursery, everyone was still asleep and he was free to move around on his own. He carefully crept over tails and paws, making sure he didn't disturb the other queens as he made his way towards the nursery entrance.

His bright golden tabby pelt glowed in the morning sun as he wriggled out from under the small entrance to the nursery, his tail bushed slightly as he felt the warmth of morning. Blazekit lifted his muzzle towards the rising sun; it peeked over the tree tops at the top of the ravine to bath the grass blades across the clearing. His paws lightly grazed the grass blades, the warm smells of the prey pile drifted towards his small nose.

The clearing was lively, worn out cats emerging through the gorse entrance. Turning to head to the warriors den, as new and awoken cats poke their heads through to push through; leaving the darken den to those who were returning. Blazekit turned his gaze towards the high rock where Echostar sat communing with Lionfire , the golden tabby tom bowed his head in respect before turning head as a dark shadow moved from the warriors den.

Blazekit turned to see Archscar trudging towards the high rock, his slumped over head low and closer to the ground. the black tom dipped his head before turning it to the apprentices den, where Archpaw emerged treading carefully towards her mentor; muttering something under her breath. The black tom then led the way out of camp as Lionfire left his spot at the bottom of the tallrock.

Blazekit lifted his tail in greeting as his father approached him, the golden tabby tom nodded. "Good morning Blazekit, your mother and sister still asleep I'm assuming."

"Unless they died of some mysterious force in the middle of night, then yes they are still asleep." Blazekit answered, his eyes turning back to the dark entrance to the nursery.

Lionfire chuckled, his tail flicking. "So what are you going to do then? The none of the other kits are awake either, so you got that to think of." The tom meowed.

"Go out hunting?"

"No."

"Come on, its boring here in camp where there isn't much to explore." Blazekit begged, his tail flicking.

"You have two moons before you are able to leave camp, it is against our warrior code to leave before the age of 6 moons." The golden tabby tom.

A cool breeze ruffled both Lionfire's and Blazekit's thick neck fur, Blazekit slumped over his posture as he looked at his paws. "None of the other cats have time to play with me…" he mewed.

"Give it a little time, Graypaw and Leopardpaw ought to be back soon." Lionfire meowed.

"But even then, they don't have a lot of time because of responsibilities." Blazekit meowed.

"Responsibilities are a part of life, they ensure the safety and stability of our clan. If all cats shun their responsibilities, the clan will suffer in due course." Lionfire meowed with the flick of his tail, his eyes staring up at the fading night sky.

"It's not fair though, why do we kits have to stay in camp while the others get to go out and play."

"There is very little play that goes on out there, the world beyond is rough and anything could get you before we arrive." Lionfire meowed,

"You could come and help me out, we can explore together."

"And let your mother worry?

"Please?"

Lionfire sighed, a smile spreading across his face. "No, you can wait two more moons to see the outside world. Life may be short, but there is a long journey ahead of you if you play it safe."

Blazekit slumped over his shoulders, his tail flicking. "But the camp is getting boring, how can I wait that long."

"There are always new opportunities in camp, you can assist your clan mates with regular camp duties. I'm sure the apprentices would approve of a helping paw with sorting moss, the queens are always nice when you deliver food to them… you can't hunt yet but you can take something from the pile to them and the elders. Don't do too much work for everyone else, the clan is a busy tight fit system and a helping paw is very much appreciated. It'll make you a better apprentice when you become one. And thinking up new games to play with the other kits keep things from getting boring if you don't want to do any work."

Blazekit nodded, looking down at his paws. "Okay… I will see what I can do to help our clan." he meowed softly.

Lionfire nestled his muzzle on top of Blazekit's head. "Don't over work yourself though; it is good to take a break every so often."

"Okay, ooh! I can go help get ticks off elders!" Blazekit spoke, his eyes lighting up as he rushed towards the elders den.

Lionfire watched him leave, before turning back to the high rock.
