Chapter Two

Without having to call for her Gisela flew into the room and instantly began assessing the Maou taking in the sheen of sweat building on his forehead and the labored state of his breathing.

" How long has Heika been ill?" she questioned as she tried to use her majustu to determine the cause of Yuuri's condition.

"He was fine when he greeted me this morning although he seemed tired I assumed it was just the stress from the amount of paperwork he had! Its all my fault I didn't notice anything was amiss! Forgive me Heika!" Gunter wailed.

The room was silent after that, they had told Gisela what little they knew about Yuuri's situation and watched as Gisela preformed her thorough examination. After what seemed like hours to the worried group of the Maou's closest advisors or friends as Yuuri would refer to them the young medic stood and began rooting through the bag of supplies she had brought pulling out a vial of bright orange liquid which she poured into the unconscious kings mouth and gently forced him to swallow. She then turned and addressed the room

"Heika has been poisoned with a plant that is native to Dai Shimaron! Luckily I happen to have the antidote for this one but we might not get that lucky next time we have to figure out how this happened immediately!" Gisela barked her tone colored with the fear she felt at losing the Maou and therefor the peace that had settled over the land since his arrival

"The only thing Yuuri Heika consumed this morning was the tea I bought him but I made that tea myself it isn't possible that it was the source!" Gunter yelled animatedly.

"is it possible that the poison could have been in the cup before Gunter used it?" Conrad question.

"No of course not everyone here loves Heika and has since he arrived! He is always talking and laughing with the maids and…..and we just hired a new maid from out of town….EVERYONE TO THE KITCHENS WE NEED TO APPRENHEND HER FOR QUESTIONING GO! Gunter cried!

Everyone raced out the door and down the halls to the kitchens, leaving the defenseless king to rest and allow the antidote time to kick in. They burst into the kitchens throwing the door open and startling the maids causing them to scream and drop what they were doing.

"Conrart! How rude! What would posses you to frighten us in this manner!" questioned the redheaded maid they had known for years.

"Yuuri ….poisoned…new maid…culprit.." Wolfram panted.

the three maids in the room paled as they realized that their new friend had maliciously tried to hurt their precious Maou and was now somewhere in the castle posing a danger to him while he was weak from the poison.

"She could be anywhere in the castle she went on break 15 minutes ago!" the nurse screeched.

Yosak then spoke up "Captain whose with Heika? He asked panic clear in his tone now and not just for the sake of peace for their country but for the sanity of his favored captain and friend who he knew wouldn't be able to bear the lose of the double black.
