"Who was that?" Chloe asked as she was being pulled away by Aubrey. She looked back at the small brunette and smiled once more before she was being pushed down to sit.
"That's Beca. My cousin" Aubrey said with the roll of her eyes. She wasn't embarrassed of Beca, not at all, she was embarrassed by the OCD. It took a toll on her even though she wasn't the one who was suffering from it. She can admit though she did make fun of Beca in the presence of her friends, she wasn't proud of it but hey, she's human and she makes mistakes and family makes fun of family, right?
"The weird one that has to do things six times before she can actually do something?" Stacie one of Aubrey's friends said as she was filing her nails. She wasn't really trying to be rude. She was calling it how she see's it and from what Aubrey has told her it's a weird attention seeking habit so she thought it would be okay to joke about it but judging by the way Aubrey was looking at her made her feel otherwise.
"Stacie" Aubrey said with a warning tone "She's not weird and she has OCD" Aubrey said.
Stacie held her hands up surrendering to Aubrey, letting the blonde know that she was sorry and didn't want anymore problems.
"Why is she here?" Chloe asked as she took a bite of her lunch "And why aren't you sitting by her? She looks so lonely and people are staring at her all weird" Chloe said as she looked over at the small brunette. She saw Beca pick up her water bottle and put it down six times. She could notice the eternal struggle that Beca was dealing with. She felt bad for the girl. She just wanted to give her a big hug. Chloe started to pack up her things.
"Where are you going?" Aubrey and Stacie both asked at the same time.
"I just want to go say hi" Chloe said "The boys are making fun of her" Chloe said and pointed to the table filled with the football players. You could see them picking up items on their table and putting them down and picking them back up and laughing as they did so. She just wanted to say hi to the girl, make it seem like she had friends. The last thing she wanted was for some of the football guys to come over and start talking to her because she knew that they would cause a big scene.
Beca knew she was being made fun of. She could hear the boys laughing at her and every time she looked up she saw them mocking her. She would just roll her eyes and try her hardest to ignore it but when she was nervous her OCD became worse and right now if she didn't do her rituals then her body would hurt and she would just panic. She was just setting her phone down for the last time when she felt a presence at the table, she was afraid to look up. Afraid that it was one of the football guys coming over to taunt her and make fun of her and she didn't have the patience or the time to deal with it "Can you just go? I already know im a freak. I don't need to hear you say it" Beca said as she began to pack her stuff.
"Well, it's a good thing I didn't come over here to make fun of you or call you a freak" Chloe said as she sat down. She undid the lid to her salad and began to eat "So, you are the infamous Beca Mitchell" Chloe said with a smile.
Beca looked up. She was a bit shocked, The person who she knocked to the ground was sitting at her table talking to her and she was being nice? She was in no way used to this. Beca was used to people coming up to her and starting random shit with her. Even at her old school, even though she had her set group of friends she still had people that would tease and torment's her. There was this one girl, Sarah, who hated Beca for no reason. She would push Beca, steal her homework, lie on Beca, just do everything in her power to bring Beca down and for a little while it worked. Beca was homeschooled for a little while because of it "Infamous? How do you know who I am?" Beca asked as she looked at the redhead who was sitting across from her "And you might be?" Beca said as she raised her eyebrow.
"Chloe Beale" Chloe said with a smile as she took a sip of her water. She smiled because she could see how Beca was trying to put up a front but that just wasn't going to work with Chloe. She had a habit of worming her way into peoples lives.
"Well, I have to get going" Beca said as she stood up. She put her phone in her back pocket before taking it out and repeating the action six times.
"OCD right?" Chloe said as she watched Beca walk away. She turned and saw Beca stop in her track. She smirked to herself. Checkmate "It's okay, why six? and is it always six?" Chloe asked softly.
Beca sighed. She was about to sit down and tell Chloe that she doesn't know anything and to just fuck off but she was saved by the bell. She shook her head and walked off
Chloe packed up her things and caught up with her friends. She felt horrible about putting Beca on the spot like that. She's never been one to just air someone's dirty laundry like that but she just wanted to get to know the brunette a little better. She caught up to Aubrey. The two had a free period so they were going to go sit in one of the study rooms and just talk for the hour "I think I made her mad" Chloe said as she set her stuff down.
Aubrey sighed and took out some of her homework for the night "Chloe. What did you do? If she goes to her mom and says that you were an ass it's just going to go back to my parents and I am going to be in so much trouble for not watching out for her" Aubrey said. Her parents were strict. They believed in family and taking care of family.
Chloe felt bad. It wasn't that she was trying to anger Beca or make the small brunette feel some type of way but she honestly just wanted to get to know Beca. Aubrey was one of her closest friends, she was honestly like family and if Beca was a part of Aubrey's family then she needed to know what was going on with Beca and let the brunette know that she has a friend in Chloe and that she could be trusted "I just pointed out that I noticed her OCD and asked why she had to do things in sets of six and if it was always six and what the reason behind six was" Chloe said as she avoided eye contact with Aubrey. She felt a pencil hit her head and she brought a hand up to baby the spot where she was hit "OW. There was no need for that. I said I was sorry" Chloe said as she finally looked at Aubrey.
"No you didn't" Aubrey said as she threw another pencil "Now, you better hope she doesn't talk to her mom because if I get grounded because you decided to be the typical Chloe Beale and force people to talk to you" Aubrey said with a smile. She laughed as she remembered Chloe walking into her second grade class and talking her ear off until the blonde spoke "You remember that? You would not stop talking to me. You just kept talking and talking until I finally answered you and I haven't been able to shake you since" Aubrey said jokingly.
"Hey" Chloe said with a little pout "You always told me you thought it was cute and that you were happy that I came and sat at your table" Chloe said as she threw the pencils right back at the blonde "And I am sorry. I just wanted to get to know her. If she is your family then she is kind of my family right?" Chloe asked the blonde. She pulled out some of her worksheets and began to answer some of the questions. She really did feel bad but she honestly had the best intentions when speaking with Beca at the lunch table "I really wasn't trying to make her upset or anything" Chloe said honestly.
Aubrey sighed "Yes, I know" Aubrey said softly "Just, if you see her around can you please apologize and tell her that it's just who you are and you have a bad issue with boundaries and that you are working on it?" Aubrey asked. She just didn't want to go home and be yelled at for something Chloe did. Even though she should've just introduced Beca to all of her friends.
Chloe nodded "Yeah, of course"
Beca sat in her graphic design class. Her mind wasn't in it, she was really mad at Aubrey and she was mad at Chloe and she was just mad in general. She pulled her phone out and texted Aubrey 'How many of your friends did you tell about me, Aubrey?' She put her phone away and tried to focus on what the teacher was trying to teach her. The one thing she liked was she basically had the exact schedule she had at her old school. It also sucked because no one was making an effort to even talk to her, granted she also wasn't making an effort to talk to people but cut her some slack she was the new kid and she knew no one. Shouldn't people come up to her and try and pry and get to know her? That's besides the point, she was just ready for the day to be over so she could go run. She really hoped that she made the team because she needed the distraction. She needed to be free, free of stress, free of embarrassment, she just needed to run. To feel normal.
The bell rang. The small brunette picked up her bag. She was excited that her last period was her free period. It gave her time to destress and just clear her head. She walked into the library single study room and set her things down, she took out her headphones and started listening to some music as started to work on her homework. She just wanted to finish all of her work so that way she could focus on running and then sleeping when she got home. She felt her phone vibrate. She pulled it out and scoffed at the text. Aubrey was so annoying. Her only response was that she should be proud that she was being talked about. She pocketed her phone and continued to do her work.
She was lost in her own little world. She didn't see and or hear the door open to her single study room. It wasn't until her headphone was ripped out of her ear "What the actual fuck" Beca said as she turned around. She saw Chloe standing there with a small smile, Beca rolled her eyes "Okay, what do you want? come here to ask more questions about things that don't concern you" Beca said as she turned to face the redhead. For some reason she had no idea why she was acting this way towards the redhead but for some reason she didn't like the fact that she was so nosy.
Chloe sat down and looked at Beca with these sad puppy dog eyes "Look, I wanted to apologize about what I said at lunch. I never meant to be so forward and so rude. Aubrey just told us about your OCD and for some reason I just wanted to know more. I have never meat someone with OCD" Chloe said "I realize now that it was awful and I shouldn't have been so rude, it's not Aubrey's fault, okay?" Chloe said softly. She gathered her things and started to walk out of the room.
"Wait" Beca said. She stood up "Look, I am not mad at you. I just don't like when people think they know everything" Beca said softly "Let's just act like we don't know each other and go our separate ways" Beca said. She packed her things up and walked passed Chloe.
